Ike Kinswa State Park, Mossyrock, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Great place. We stayed four nights four week nights in mid Sept. All the campsites are in a mature woods. Smooth paved roads with paved camp site parking. Out site was a paved loop large enough for our 25 foot motor home but there are also large paved back in sites for long motorhomes or trailers. Beautiful lake with no development except for one house far away on the other side of the lake. There is fishing here but we did not do so. The only thing we would like to have had was a laundry facility. Otherwise, 10 out of 10 - probably the best we have seen in two years of full time RVing. We camped at Ike Kinswa State Park in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails - Paradise Resort, Silver Creek, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Surprisingly bad. Inexcusably rough road leading to the camp ground. The whole facility is worn down and not well maintained at all. Even the grass was not cut. We were here September 14 so perhaps they don't bother after Labor Day. In fact we were told the camp store is closed after Labor Day. The lake was covered in algae. We have been RVing full time for two years and this is one of the worst places we've seen. It could be a nice place and may have been at one time. We camped at Thousand Trails - Paradise Resort in a Motorhome.

Village Camper Inn RV Park, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice setting among very tall redwoods. Paved roads are in good condition. Our site was odd. It was so narrow I had to put the right side tires on the concrete pad which tipped our rig a bit. The fire pit had debris in it when we arrived and was never cleaned in the six days we stayed. Neither were any of the many other firepits I walked by. The sour old man I assumed to be the owner never smiled and when he did happen to look my way several times, just kind of glared each time. The ladies in the office were nice however. The mens shower was never cleaned and I know this because the whole room looked like it and there was a plastic water bottle on the floor of the one shower stall I used for the six day stay. It really needs a complete remodeling but a daily cleaning before that is the least that could be done. However my wife said the women's shower was fine. I gave the overall rating of 'average' but it's really below average. It would take just a little to get this place back up to what it could be. However, you don't see much staff working here and it shows. They have added new electric boxes that look nice and also installed new cable TV hookups but left the old cable boxes just lying on the ground or hanging from the posts. The whole place just has a tired look. We camped at Village Camper Inn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Paso Robles RV Ranch, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice facility. Nothing fancy but well maintained. The grounds workers are out working every day and it shows. Clean restrooms and showers. The staff are friendly and take a sincere interest in how things are going for you. The wifi was terrific for the first several days and then slowed. Two bars on Verizon most of the time. This "ranch" is out in the countryside with views of the rolling hills and vineyards but just a ten minute drive to Paso Robles downtown which is nice with shops and good restaurants around a large town green. Nice walking path around the park for dog walking. There is also a very tiny, fenced dog exercise area that was hardly worth the effort to build. It is about the size of three large dog crates. We camped at Paso Robles RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are more acres of vineyards here than Napa but the area is not as "touristy." Come here for a more laid back experience. 45 minute drive to Hearst castle, San Simeon (giant elephant seals on the beach), quaint village of Cambria. If you like to take your dog to dog parks, there is Sherwood Park, a very nice and large dog park about a 15 minute drive away.

River's Edge RV & Cabins Resort, Evansville, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very well run facility. Super clean and modern showers and restrooms. Nice amenities like patio with grill, small playground, billiards room. Mother and son managers are helpful and friendly. The park is located near an industrial park but it is quiet except for trains a couple of times a night. Also located on scenic river with excellent trout fishing - about a quarter mile of river frontage. Close to I-25 but no traffic noise. Easy access to Casper and malls. The best choice we found near Casper. We camped at River's Edge RV & Cabins Resort in a Motorhome.

Dayton KOA, Brookville, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is the standard that all KOA's should strive for. We had a back-in elec/water, cable tv site for our 25 foot motorhome. Like camping in the woods w/lots of shade and even a small stream right behind the site. Many more amenities than most KOA's- see their website. Super clean and very well maintained. We stayed here early August for a couple of nights. Campground was busy but not jammed. Highly recommended. We camped at Dayton KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Air Force Museum is outstanding. Minor league baseball Dayton Dragons team has a very nice stadium in downtown Dayton: Fifth/Third Field, on East Monument Ave. One of the most popular spots in Dayton is the restored Oregon village area with bars/restaurants on East Fifth St with a beautiful neighborhood behind. One of the best steak houses in the country is the Pine Club on Brown St. No reservations taken. Can be a long wait at peak time but well worth it.
