Boomland RV Park & Campground, Charleston, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here because it was convenient and had full hook up. The price was VERY affordable. This campground seems a bit of a mixture of overnight rest area and a temporary residence for some campers. We spent no time at the park other than to sleep. There's an all night truck stop on one side, and a trucking co. On the other. Truckers arrive and leave at all hours of the night. A great place to sleep, not a place for kids as there is no play equipment. We camped at Boomland RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Charleston is about 15 miles from Sikeston, mo. Home of Lambert's cafe, famous for throwing hot rolls to customers. If you are in this area, you HAVE to eat here. Bring an appetite, they know how to feed you!

Round Spring Campground NPS, Eminence, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I practically grew up in this campground. When I was a teen, we tent camped here at least twice a summer, and sometimes many more. The tent sites are mostly shady. The terrain is very hilly so finding level tent sites can be a challenge. But tent camping is not what I wanted to review. I camped in one of the brand new electrical sites in the campground. The sites were fairly large, and mostly level. Pretty easy access for parking as far as I am concerned. One IMPORTANT thing, you HAVE to put something under your support legs or jack supports. The asphalt is soft and you will sink in the Missouri sunshine! I had nylon pads under my front supports and even they sunk in the sunshine! The sites didn't have as much room as many of the camps that I have camped at. The ARE 50 amp service which was problematic for me because I didn't have the 50 to 30 conversion pigtail. Luckily the park ranger lent me one with relatively little hassle at all. There was water at the site, no sewer however. Clean out can be tricky with larger rigs. Can be challenging to get close enough to the dump station. We camped at Round Spring Campground NPS in a Fifth Wheel.

Vandalia Lake Campground, Vandalia, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and of course the campground was EXCEPTIONALLY busy. There was lots of traffic in the park, but overall it was a great place to stay. The 'sites' aren't actually sites at all. You are allowed to park any way you like as all of the camp is grass. Nearly all of the electric sites are situated near the lake. The campground is nice, and for the number of people there exceptionally quiet. We truly enjoyed our stay. In fact, we are planning a trip back two weeks from today. One downfall however, when we stayed the water that is available from the faucets is well water. This water is high in iron content, and although I was assured it was safe, appeared green to me. So bring plenty of fresh water! We camped at Vandalia Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
