Lancaster Campground, Lancaster, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night as we were passing through the area. Park was clean, site was adequately sized, utilities were easy to access. We were a little confused about how to 'check in' but only one site was empty and it had our last name on the post, so we parked and called the number on the website to let them know we'd arrived and found our site. The park is in a good location, not far from downtown where there are lots of awesome food options. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lancaster Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Campground, Beckley, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Small, wooded campground located on top of the coal mine. As others mention, the short road up to the campground is a little steep but we ad no issues. Roads in the campground are large and easy to navigate. We were assigned a beautiful site at the end giving us lots of privacy. Site was gravel and we had to level our trailer. Utilities were easy to access and each site had a trash receptacle at the rear of the campsite. Short walk to the coal mine visitor center - be sure to try the fudge and take a tour of the mine. A walking trail runs right by the far end of the campground and is great for walking dogs or going for a nice walk or run. We were pleasantly surprised with this campground and would return if in the area again. We camped at Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tuck in the Wood Campground, St. Helena, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over a long weekend as a home base for visiting the nearby towns of Beaufort, Hunting Island, and Hilton Head. Park was easy to find and we had no problems maneuvering to/from our assigned site. Most sites are well spaced and private, while others are oddly arranged. Within a few hours of arriving, a fellow camper stopped by to warn us of the large number of copperhead snakes in the area and mentioned that another camper had been bit multiple times (sending her to the hospital) just a few days prior while staying on our site. While we were thankful for the warning, we were surprised that this was not mentioned by the staff at check-in. We were diligent to avoid the wooded areas and thankfully did not encounter any snakes during our stay. Roads and sites are dirt and left us covered in dust when spending any time outside. Ant hills were everywhere, otherwise bugs were present but not unusual for this time of year. Park has a boardwalk that goes out over the marsh, very scenic. There looked to be a fitness room in the park, but after asking around it seems that it is only for the owner and is not for use by campers. If we return to the area we will probably explore other campground options. We camped at Tuck in the Wood Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Magnolia Springs State Park, Millen, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

What a wonderful park!! Not much to do in the area, but this park is a true hidden gem. We visited to attend an annual family reunion and this was the first time we brought our camper. Staff was very friendly, site was easy to back into and had a beautiful view of the lake. The only reason I didn't give this park 10 stars is the lack of sewer connection and lack of cell service. Will definitely return if the reunion continues to be held here. We camped at Magnolia Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Flamingo Lake RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, we had a great time at Flamingo Lake RV Resort. Check-in was fairly quick. We were escorted to our site and found that our campsite was angled opposite the direction we were pointed on the one-way street. Site was easy to back into once we were approaching from a good angle. Site 16 had a great view and we would book that same site again, but we were disheartened at how many other campers cut through between the lakefront sites in order to walk along the lake (behind the campers) to fish, etc. This was frustrating and definitely took away from the illusion of 'privacy' of the wooded campsites. Our site had a small (4 person) picnic table and no sites in the campground had fire pits. We had family staying across the lake in one of the more expensive campsites with a wooden deck, but we preferred our site and site location due to the foliage, paved roads, and proximity to the cafe. The cafe was VERY convenient for when you arrive late and are tired and hangry, when you want a tasty breakfast but are feeling lazy, or when you're looking for a quick snack and coffee before departing. Everything we had from the cafe was tasty and the staff was very friendly. Some roads in the campground are paved, but over half of the roads are 'gravel'. By gravel, I mean mostly dirt and sand, and full of massive holes. Paved roads (or even fresh gravel) would really make a huge difference. We all remarked that unless we would definitely return to the park, but only if we had a lakefront site. A significant rain storm had come through before/during our arrival, which left most campsites in the 'unpaved' loop under several inches of standing water. We rode through the campground several days later and those sites still had standing water all in the roads and around the campers. Campground location was convenient to stores and downtown Jacksonville. Overall, had a great time and would return, depending on which sites are available. We camped at Flamingo Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The Barnyard RV Park, Lexington, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here overnight as we were passing through the area. Site was long and fairly easy to maneuver into and out of. I could see larger rigs (like motorhomes) having a difficult time due to the angle of this specific site. Park was convenient, staff was friendly, utilities worked well. Would return if passing through the area again. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

CreekFire Motor Ranch, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $84.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, the park itself is top notch. Conveniently located near the city but away from the crazy traffic. Amenities were all great and exactly as expected. The park and sites were very well maintained and manicured. Staff was friendly and prompt with anything we needed. HOWEVER, we did feel fairly misled with our site. We booked a "lake concrete back-in" and chose the site (88) based on the map provided on the campground website. This site was indicated to back up to woods, while having a front and curb-side full view of the lake. We were also told over the phone that this is a great and desirable site. We were so disappointed to arrive and find that not only did our site back up to the 'backyards' of 7 cabins (only 3 are indicated on the campground map), but our view of the lake was completely blocked by a bathhouse (also not indicated on the map). Most sites of this type are large and have great views, but site 88 should not be in the same pricing category as other lake back-ins due to the obstructed view and close proximity to the bathhouse (just a few feet, literally). Our receipt reflects a cost of $79 per night for this site, plus a $5 per day 'resort fee'. The cost seemed a bit steep when booking, but we were excited to try out such a new, beautiful park and we were willing to splurge on a nice site offering a great view and a bit of privacy. If we had an accurate idea of what to expect with this particular site when booking, we probably would not have moved forward with reserving it. The park is very nice and we may stay there again when in the area, but we will definitely choose a different site. We camped at CreekFire Motor Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night at Downtown Riverside RV while passing through the area. Had fairly low expectations after reading reviews stating that the park isn't in a good area, that it's just a large parking lot, etc. Yes, these statements are true, but we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and they had reserved the best site in the park for us (or at least what I consider to be). The views were simply incredible. Sites are fairly close together but since our site was on the end, we didn't mind. After reading other reviews, I confirmed when booking that the hookups would be on the correct side, and had no problems when we arrived. All sites were very long, plenty of room for large rigs. Individual sites do not have picnic tables, but there are several picnic tables and benches in the grassy area along the river for community use. The park has a secure walk-thru gate that takes you straight to a stairwell up to the pedestrian bridge, so even after dark you can walk back over the bridge and come straight to the park without having to walk through the surrounding area. The bridges light up at night and are so beautiful. We wish we could have stayed another night so we could walk over the bridge and explore the Clinton library, park, riverside market, etc. We plan to return soon and will stay longer next time. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Treetops RV Resort, Arlington, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night at this park while driving through the area. We were a bit confused when trying to locate the office to check in. There are signs directing you to where to park while checking in (which blocks several campsites?), but from there we weren't sure where to find the office. We stayed in a pull thru for convenience, but we generally prefer back-ins. Back-in sites looked very pretty but overall the park felt a bit crowded. Staff was pleasant and it suited us well for one night. We stayed on 118A and based on the site number I was concerned that it might be a buddy site, but 118A and 118B actually back up to each other (versus facing each other). Site was a bit sloped but leveling wasn't difficult. We camped at Treetops RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeview RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Booked one night at Lakeview RV as we were passing through the area. Staff was friendly and the park and all amenities were immaculate. Enjoyed our first night so much we decided to stay another night. No privacy between sites but we didn't mind. Sites are short so most park their tow vehicles along the road in front of their site. I recall some reviews complaining about this, but the roads within the park are very wide and I had no issues navigating through the park with or without the trailer. Large recreation center, walking track around the lake, several outdoor kitchens and community fire pits, pool, large professional laundry, free popcorn machine and coffee, business center, dog wash, separate walk through gate to gas station, and more.. this park has it all. I can see why this park comes highly recommended. Will definitely return. We camped at Lakeview RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Belle Ridge Retreat, Monterey, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park, only a couple of years old. Set in the woods but is also conveniently located right off the highway. Sites are spacious and ours backed up to woods and a field. Only stayed one night as we were driving through the area, but plan to return soon. Staff was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only 'dislikes' were that the bath house was a rather long walk from the RV section (we like to wash hands and use the restroom as we're leaving a campground) and the dumpster was at one side of the park and not easily accessible when exiting the park. Neither of these items would prevent us from returning, but we're hopeful the owners may take these things into consideration as they make improvements to the park. We plan to bring family and friends back as we know everyone will enjoy the amenities the park offers. We camped at Belle Ridge Retreat in a Travel Trailer.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night at Tom Sawyer's while visiting Memphis. Park was a short drive from the city and we found its location fairly convenient. Our site had a beautiful view of the river, but it's important to note when booking if you want a view out the front or out the back. One riverfront section faces the river, while the other riverfront section backs up to the river. Thankfully, our camper has windows on both end so our view was great either way. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Pontchartrain Landing for two nights while visiting New Orleans. Like others have mentioned, the road to the campground is horrible - I could barely go 15 mph. However, once you get past that, the campground itself is great. Staff escorted us to our site and helped us back in. Campsites are gravel but ours was level enough that we did not have to use leveling blocks. Gravel/dirt streets within the park so dust could be an issue, but it had recently rained when we visited so it was no an issue during our stay. We were on a deluxe waterfront site so our site backed up to the marina and had a beautiful view of the sunrise. We took advantage of the $6 shuttle to/from the French Quarter and found it very convenient. We also ate at the on-site restaurant one night for dinner and found it to be very delicious. We plan to stay at this park again when we return to the area. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.
