Preferred RV Resort, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is Good Sam and open to the public. It is also part of the group called Resorts of Distinction which we are part of along with being a member of Good Sam and AAA. This park is a nice little oasis in the desert. All of the facilities are very nice and clean. The restrooms and showers are kept very clean and are well accommodated for handicap people. The laundry room and machines is one of the nicest I have seen. 3 washers, 3 dryers and a folding table. The pool is very nice. It is heated and has a retracting roof over it so it can be closed off from the elements if necessary. Yes, it can get quite cold in Pahrump. The hot tub is indoor and is very well maintained. They have a children's playground, horseshoe pit, bean bag toss and they also have daily activities anyone can join at the clubhouse like pinochle, poker, board games, crafting etc. All of the sites are gravel and fairly level. There are really only two drawbacks we could find with this park. 1) The sites are very close together. I heard our young neighbors one night at 3:00 a.m. and because the sites are set up to where you pull in with the nose of your rig facing one way and your next door neighbor pulls in with the nose stopping at the back end of your rig your cabin doors are on facing each other. This is great if there are two of you with rigs traveling together, but if you don't know your neighbor prior to you pulling in to your site or them pulling into theirs you will get to know them very quickly. The second was this park accepts long term RV'ers. Yes, there are several long term rigs in sites all around this park, but they are well maintained and the condition of the rigs are mainly fading paint and decals from the sunlight in the desert. They have all the shopping you could need and this RV Park sits next to two casinos. You are also only a days drive from the easiest route in and out of Death Valley and a one hour drive from the Las Vegas Strip. We camped at Preferred RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Anaheim RV Park, Anaheim, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

Our first visit to this RV Park was in November of 2016. We were quite impressed at this little jewel in the concrete jungle of the Los Angeles basin. They had recently finished putting in a new Restroom/Laundry Room facility. Each of the 4 non-gender specific restrooms with showers showed they were handicapped equipped. Each of them were big enough for someone bound in a wheelchair to move around and use the facilities. They also had shower chairs in each of them. This was great, but there were also a couple of draw backs which have not been improved upon in 3 1/2 years. The shower heads are fixed and do not have a removable shower head wand for someone seated on the shower chair or in a wheelchair to use. To add to this problem, the water drainage in each of these 4 restroom/shower rooms varies as the decline for the water to run down is practically non-existent. There is nothing to prevent the water from the shower stall from running out across the entire floor of the restroom/shower room you are in. So, if you were at risk of slipping on the tile floor in the shower stall you are now also at risk of slipping somewhere on the entire bathroom floor that is flooded and slippery. It is very obvious management is not making a good effort to maintain these showers. Toilets were plugged, paper towel dispensers were empty or not functioning properly. Because of the water on the floor from the poor shower drainage the entire bathroom floors were dirty from dirt and leaves being drug into them by shoes and the breeze. The fans in each of the restroom were black. There were other areas of black mold in the shower rooms like the legs of the shower chairs for the disabled, the windows, ceiling skylights and mirrors. The pool is nice and the sites are maintained very well. We camped at Anaheim RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a really reliable shuttle bus to and from Disneyland every day or if you are energetic you could walk to and from Disneyland from this location.

Fairmont RV Park, Anaconda, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Nice space between sites. Gravel parking pad and dead grass. Very few trees. Some young trees. Bathrooms are extremely clean. Staff was not very welcoming upon arrival. Grounds are not real appealing. When we booked they were still a Good Sam park. They gave us the discount even though they are no longer a Good Sam park. That was nice. Older park which needs improvements, but hear there are new owners. Don't know that I would return. Only here for one night. Picnic table in bad shape. We camped at Fairmont RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We are relatively new to RV'ing. We stayed here for a week in April 2017. It is a very nice RV Resort. The spacing between the units is better than many RV resorts/parks. The grounds were clean and pretty well maintained. The pool and the area around it was clean. Parks/Resorts generally have quiet hours as this one does and security was very regular coming through the park checking on everything. We were disappointed with the dog park area. Not every dog owner is courteous and responsible when it comes to picking up after their pets. The dog area was nicely fenced with a grassy area and a dirt area. The grass did not look as though it had been mowed in a couple of weeks and it would have been nice to have gravel instead of dirt. They had a couple of bench/table combination places for sitting, but one was broken and they were dirty. The worst part was the cigarette butts laying all over the ground. There are no signs stating "no smoking" and there are no ashtray type receptacles for people to dispose of their cigarette butts. The showers were pretty well maintained, but the water last about 15 seconds every time you push the button. The restroom buildings needed power washing as they were covered with cob and spider webs. The laundry room also needed attention with regards to cleaning. Would stay here again, but would hope they fixed these things. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Motorhome.

Club Royal Oak RV Resort, Kingsburg, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We booked our reservation at this RV Resort in October 2016. We arrived at the resort at 3:00 p.m. on 4/29/17. The sign shows office hours of 10-4. The office was closed when we arrived. Rang the buzzer, no one answered. Called the after hours number. Woman who answered said she was in town and would be back in 10 minutes. When she arrived her appearance was less than business like even for a campground. She was courteous and explained they had experienced some flooding from the river and the ground was till drying out. We understood. She offered us site 44 and it was a good thing we took it as site 43 still had standing water in it. When we got out of our rig we were greeted by an unpleasant smell. Thought it was from the flooding until we read another review from two weeks prior stating the river flooding had caused the sewer system to back up onto the grounds covering his patio rug and hoses in feces. Now we know what the smell was as the ground was still wet. It would have been nice to know this problem had occurred before my husband crawled on the ground under the coach to put the jack pads down so our jacks would not sink into the soft, wet ground. Many older, unmaintained permanent RV's in the park. All amenities are in much need of repair. Not well maintained park at all. Extremely disappointed. Will lose one day's rental fee and be inconvenienced, but we are relocating our rig to another park as even one more night in this park is not worth the price they charge. We camped at Club Royal Oak RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't waste your money. Any discount is not worth staying at this resort. Poorly maintained and managed. Nicer park down the road is less money per night. There may be rules, but they are not enforced. Permanent resident next to us was out using power tools at 7:00 a.m. and the children were running around screaming. Will be letting Good Sam know this park should not be on their recommended list.
