Withrow Springs State Park, Huntsville, Arkansas
Date of Stay:
May, 2018 -
$25.00
Overall Rating:
We camped here midweek and even though there were other campers, the sites are well spaced and not noisy. The bathrooms are new and clean. It was odd that a highway runs through the park. The ranger even provides canoe and kayak transportation. It's a half-day float trip but fun and reasonable rental rate ($30). Canoe, paddles and life jackets provided. We camped at Withrow Springs State Park in a Tent Trailer.
We visited Bentonville and it's attractions. Walton's Museum and Crystal Bridges Art Museum. Both are worth the time and they are free.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$41.00
Overall Rating:
We stayed here for a week during Fiesta. The park is located on the hike/bike trail and bus line. We utilized both on our trips to the River Walk and parades. The lady at check in was very helpful and provided bus schedules and local information. The park was very clean, and well maintained. Lots of amenities, game room, dog park, playground, library, exercise and yoga rooms, swimming pool and hot tub. They decided to renovate one of the bathroom buildings during this week, which left two showers for the entire park. However, I only had to wait one time for a shower. We camped at Travelers World RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
The park is at a great location to everything, River Walk, Missions, Alamo.

Mother Neff State Park, Moody, Texas
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$25.00
Overall Rating:
We were very impressed with this newly renovated park and campground. We reserved on line for a Friday and Saturday night stay. On arrival we were shown the available sites and they have a notebook of pictures of each site, which helped us pick site #7. They also gave a welcome packet and the boy scouts sell firewood by the stick (not the bundle) so you can pick your 12 pieces for $5.00. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've seen at a state park. There are lots of trails, a playground, a cave and some of the original CCC structures. We camped at Mother Neff State Park in a Travel Trailer.
Short drive to the Texas State Botanical Gardens in Goldthwaite. Several geocaches in the park and area.

TeePee Camprground, Mackinaw City, Michigan
Date of Stay:
July, 2017 -
$38.00
Overall Rating:
Older, fairly well maintained campground. Bathhouse is heavily used, but usually clean. Sites are close. Trees are helpful is giving privacy. Nightly bonfires on the beach are fun. Sandy beach, rocky water, but it's Michigan, too cold for Texans to swim! Free shuttle to the ferry, discount tickets available. We camped at TeePee Camprground in a Travel Trailer.
We took our bikes on the ferry to ride around the island (8 miles). Spent 2 days on island, couple of days in town. Rode bikes to town and on the rails to trails path.

Jamaica Beach RV Park, Galveston, Texas
Date of Stay:
June, 2017 -
$44.00
Overall Rating:
This is our second stay here and will likely stay again. We like that it is near Galveston, but not in the traffic and parking fees of Galveston. Also like the convenience of driving on the beach just across the road. The bathroom and showers are clean and air-conditioned. The pools are nice. Enjoyed the beach pool to lay on the chaises in the water to keep cool. The lazy river is open and we love it! The Wi-Fi was not reliable. We camped at Jamaica Beach RV Park in a Tent Trailer.
We always eat at Shrimp and Stuff. Happy to see they opened a food trailer on the weekends just down the road. Moody Gardens is fun and they have a senior discount of half-price. Lots of stuff to do on The Strand and Seawall Blvd. Just know that the parking is not free.

Caddo Lake State Park, Karnack, Texas
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$15.00
Overall Rating:
A nice, clean park. Lots of hiking, plenty of room between sites. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Tent Trailer.
We hiked a little, found a geocache as well as a letterbox. Having been to Jefferson many times, we ate a The Hamburger Store on the way to the park. (as usual, slow service). Can also recommend the catfish restaurant just down the road.

Grand Gulf Military Monument Park, Port Gibson, Mississippi
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$23.00
Overall Rating:
What a nice campground! We were pleasantly surprised at this out of the way place. Since we are not self-contained, showers and bathrooms are an important criteria. From earlier reviews, we knew we needed to park in the upper area. The facilities were well kept and clean. We camped at Grand Gulf Military Monument Park in a Tent Trailer.
We stopped at the Vicksburg National historic site. Checked out the cemetery, museum on site, as well as the Mississippi River across the street.

Gunter Hill COE, Montgomery, Alabama
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$13.00
Overall Rating:
We stayed in the Catoma Creek campground, very nice, new campground. Since we are not self-contained, showers and bathrooms are an important criteria. These were individual (private), very clean facilities. The sites are incredibly long, with plenty of space between sites. When we pulled up to the lady standing at the check-in building, she turned around, went in the building and shut the door. Not the friendliness expected in the south. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Tent Trailer.
Due to spring break, the campground was full with lots of kids playing. But talking to locals, this is a popular park at any time.

Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground, Lizella, Georgia
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$25.00
Overall Rating:
This is a nice campground. Since we are not self-contained, showers and bathrooms are an important criteria. These showers were very nice, hot water, good pressure, clean. Just no bench or hooks to put your things on while showering. The sites were all bunched together and we had noisy neighbors. The water connection was in a box in the ground, making it interesting to hook up. We camped at Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground in a Tent Trailer.
We stayed here while attending the Macon Cherry Festival. Lots of activities. We also checked out the Air Force Museum at Warner Robins AFB.

Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park, Cordele, Georgia
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$35.00
Overall Rating:
This is a very nice campground. Unfortunately, there were gnats everywhere and made it impossible to sit outside. We parked in the loop not by the water. The sites were spaced farther apart and not as many people. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Tent Trailer.
We were able to find a couple of geocaches in the park. Next time we'll check out the lodge lounge and restaurant in the park.

Foscue Creek COE, Demopolis, Alabama
Date of Stay:
April, 2017 -
$13.00
Overall Rating:
We were hurrying to get here and set up before a big storm was to hit. The lady checking us in, pointed out that there was a storm shelter if needed. Thankfully, the storm passed us by and there was no need to shelter. The campground is a very nice COE park. The sites are a bit close, backing up to the lake. The showers and bathrooms were clean and nice. We camped at Foscue Creek COE in a Tent Trailer.
It looked like the camp hosts had firewood for sale. There are a couple of playgrounds. Most sites were on the water with fishing available.

Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area, Minden, Louisiana
Date of Stay:
March, 2017 -
$18.00
Overall Rating:
This campground was a disappointment. It is in need a of an update. As a previous camper stated, the signage was lacking, even once we found the campground. The sites were large, with picnic table and fire ring. The asphalt pad was not in good shape, and hard to find a level spot. Since we are not self-contained, bathrooms and showers are a necessity. These were ok, clean and flush toilets, but we declined to take a shower since we would be home the next day. After dark, be sure to take a flashlight, since the lights are not working. We probably not be camping here again. We camped at Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area in a Tent Trailer.

Savannah South KOA, Richmond Hill, Georgia
Date of Stay:
March, 2017 -
$41.00
Overall Rating:
We used this campground as our base for Savannah, Hilton Head, St Simon and Jekyll Islands. We weren't here much during the day, but it was certainly quiet in the evenings. The staff is helpful with arrival and parking the camper. Also, the power went out on our row of sites, but they were able to fix the problem quickly. We camped at Savannah South KOA in a Travel Trailer.
We enjoyed the trolley tour in Savannah, interesting and informative. Jekyll Island was very relaxing and would like to spend time there.

River View RV Park & Resort, Vidalia, Louisiana
Date of Stay:
February, 2017 -
$41.00
Overall Rating:
We were only spending the night on our way home. Wanted to check out Natchez and this park was very convenient. Our site was concrete and level. It was a cold February night so we didn't use the pool or hot tub. Enjoyed watching the river traffic. Disappointed there was no electrical plug in the bathroom. Wi-Fi was ok. We camp in an A-liner camper. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Travel Trailer.
Natchez has an interesting Natchez walk to see lots of beautiful old homes.

Paul B. Johnson State Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Date of Stay:
February, 2017 -
$21.00
Overall Rating:
If the bathrooms had been cleaner, I would have given a better rating. No divider between shower and dressing area. No hooks to hang anything on. The park was very nice, lots of space and big lake. No fire ring. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Travel Trailer.
