Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $125.00
Overall Rating:

Very expensive, but a great place to visit the Niagara Falls area. Lots of amenities, beach, catch and release fishing, kayaks, canoes, zip line, daily activities, animal show, free root beer floats on Sat Night, Gaga Pit, Basketball hoops, Swimming Pool and lazy river, movies on Fri and Sun night. Very quiet after dark. Very friendly staff and good camp store. We camped at Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great place for a base camp to visit Niagara Falls, both American and Canadian side. If you are into wine, visit the wineries in Canada around Niagara on the Lake, they compare with those in Napa Valley. Crossing the border into and out of the US can be time consuming at times.

Hammondsport / Bath KOA, Bath, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has recently become a KOA campground and the owners are making improvements. Lots for the kids to do, 2 swimming pools, Miniature Golf, Gaga Pit, Petal cars, nice playground, activity center, dog park. One issue with the dog park is the bottom of the fencing in areas has a gap of 6 to 9 inches and small dogs can crawl under the fence. Staff was very helpful but did not use the information I provided on the size of my motorhome and tried to put me in a site that the RV would not fit. The girl at the front desk worked with me to find a spot that would accommodate my 41 ft RV. Roads are dirt/gravel with lots of pot holes. Have to go very slow to avoid damaging your rig. Very quiet, but most sites are very close together. Little shade for the section for large rigs. We camped at Hammondsport / Bath KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in Hammondsport except for lake activities. Watkins Glen is close by and the state park in the middle of town was great for hiking and viewing waterfalls.

Sunsetview Farm Camping Area, Monson, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Campsite in Mass are hard to find. This one is good enough for over night stay. Staff very friendly and help show you to your site. Roads are gravel/dirt and very narrow. Have to take it very slow but manageable. Lots of seasonal sites, but seem to be clean for the ones we saw. Very family oriented and had a program with various activities. Not much to do in the local area. Site was just long enough for our 41 ft motorhome and toad. We camped at Sunsetview Farm Camping Area in a Motorhome.

Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Very large campground with many spaces that were very long. Sites were very narrow though. Great location to visit Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park. We used this campground as a base camp to do daily visits to Arcadia and Bar Harbor and did not use any of the amenities. Our initial site did not have sewer hook ups, but the staff worked very hard to find us a site a couple of days later that had hookups. Staff was very friendly and helpful about things to do in the local area. No Cable and Wifi was very weak. We ended up using our Mifi to get connectivity. Verizon coverage was great at the campsite, not so in the Park. Lots of seasonal visitors but most sites were well maintained. Would use this campsite when we return to the area. Site was more than long enough for our 41 ft motorhome and toad. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Arcadia Park is a must. Lots of hiking trails and things to see. Make sure you go to Schoodic Point on the other side of Frenchman's Bay. Hike up to Bubble Rock and go to Cadillac Mountain, views were outstanding. Visit the Traveling Lobster for the best Lobster on the island. Great restaurants in Bar Harbor also.

Black Bear Campground, Florida, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Large campground. Site was located on the upper level. Roads very narrow but paved. Staff was very friendly but you were left to find your assigned site. Site was long enough that we did not have to unhitch our toad. Site was gravel with some grass. Did not use the bathhouse or rest rooms. Only there for one night as we were traveling to Maine from Virginia. Very quiet and was good for the one night stay. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.
