Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park), Melbourne Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over Christmas in 2016. The park was almost completely full but it didn't feel crowded. Many people had decorations out and some folks down from us even made snow at night! There was a good breeze that helped keep the noseeums at bay but they were out when the breeze stopped. We cooked out in the park provided fire ring every day. We had a partial view of the water. Christmas morning I was waiting for our dogs to finish eating when a pod of dolphins started jumping out of the water about 40' from the back of my RV!!!! It was magical and made the holiday trip that much better! The bathrooms aren't new but they were reasonable clean. I only took one shower there to keep from filling my grey tank towards the end of our stay. Using the dump station was very fast and easy. There was constant ranger presence as they drove around on golf carts all day and night. We were very close to the bathrooms and saw him cruising by at 2am when I went to the bathroom. Made me feel very safe. The air does have a brackish water smell but you are staying on an island surrounded by brackish water so I feel that is to be expected. Overall we REALLY enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Because of the lack of natural shade, it will always be in the winter months though..... We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Manatee Hammock Campground, Titusville, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

You can see the vehicle assembly building from your campsite if you are down by the water. There is a Walmart a few miles away if you forgot any items. They have a great pier for fishing and we were able to catch a lot of fish but they were all small. They have a dog park but it looks like people don't pick up after their dogs. It rained VERY hard one night while we were there but there wasn't any standing water the next morning. I thought that we were going to have to leave early but I was pleasantly surprised the next morning. My only criticisms of this park was the check in process - make sure to bring the tag numbers for your trailer and your tow vehicle or you will be running back out there like I did. Also, there were people across from us with a dog that would not stop barking any time it saw another dog. That meant that my dogs were stuck in the camper the entire time because they weren't considerate enough to silence their dog. That was a bummer because we like to have our dogs out with us but I wasn't willing to disturb the entire campground. We camped at Manatee Hammock Campground in a Travel Trailer.
