Van Hoy Farms Family Campground, Union Grove, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is convenient to the interstate and the manager was chatty and engaging. Sites are a little rustic. Restrooms are below average. The area is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but there is a good little diner that is pretty rustic with good down-home type food near the interstate. The campground is overpriced for what it is. This was the highest priced site we hit on the trip from the northeast to FL. We camped at Van Hoy Farms Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Winter Quarters Manatee RV, Bradenton, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We are staying from late Dec through early April. We had a waterfront site which has beautiful views of the lake and community building with is really pretty with the light reflecting on the lake at night. Noise from I-75 is constant, but tends to blend into the background. It can be annoying at times though. The location is very convenient with lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities within a 5 to 25 minute ride. About 40 minutes to the sugar sand beaches on the gulf. The sites vary in the campground - some, like ours have been upgraded with full pads and paved drives. Most are fairly tight. Some are pretty much just gravel with a small patio pad. Two nice pools that are well heated. Lots of activities, though we did not participate in many. Laundry facilities are pretty good. There are a lot of permanent sites with Park models, but there are still lots of RV's in the park. Lots of RV's that come for 3-6 months through the winter like we did. We enjoy the waterfront site and looked around the area to find something similar but with larger sites and a little further from the interstate traffic noise, but didn't find anything better. This is basically our winter home. The location in Bradenton and close to Sarasota as well as family a few miles north of here make this best choice currently available for us. If we found a RV resort with waterfront sites, a little more elbow room and less highway noise, we would be interested in moving, as long as it was in the same general area, but for now we are going to come back for a second season. We camped at Winter Quarters Manatee RV in a Fifth Wheel.
