Yuba State Park - Oasis Campground, Levan, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

I had such high hopes for this State Park; but alas, this stay was a disappointment. First: Verify your map program takes you to I-15 Exit 202, Yuba State Park, if you attempt to take Exit 207 (thanks Garmin), you will have to drive over a rough gravel road. Second: we disconnected our tow truck for easier entrance into the park (several 90º turns at the entrance) and were charged an extra $15/day for the truck, after speaking with the park supervisor the next day, he refunded the 2 day total of $30 (thanks!). Third: Sites are not well marked. Fourth: Our site was not level, high in the rear, so our front jacks were fully extended. Fifth: Although the website does not mention available water, there are spigots at a few sites (not ours). Sixth: Electricity was terrible. Our surge protector registered Reversed Polarity at the pole. The incoming voltage varied greatly throughout the 2 day stay; it varied from 119 down to 108 incoming voltage. Little things: lots of big black flies. The shade tree on our site is dead and gives Zero shade. Pack your provisions before coming here - no food or gas for 30+ miles away.
Now for the Pros: Very quiet and DARK at night! Lots of opportunities to star-gaze. Nice setting with many trees and great views of the lake from our site. There is grass at each site (with a sprinkler system - why doesn’t every site have water then?). A wind blew most of the time to keep you a bit cooler (98º the first day!). We camped at Yuba State Park - Oasis Campground in a Motorhome.

Great park while visiting Dinosaur NM and surrounding High Desert areas! Not much shade, but a wind blows most every day; temperatures in July 90º's in the daytime; 50º's at night! Good site for star gazing! Friendly and welcoming host! We camped at Outlaw Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Campus RV Park, Independence, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Easy campground for us while working in KC area. Lots of nearby attractions and history. Yes, there are nearby trains, but most of the park backs up to Community of Christ campus and is quiet. Big soccer / baseball field in front for our dogs to run a bit. Have recently stopped accepting Long Term rentals! We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA, Eureka, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

As with all other reviews, this is your average KOA with Six Flags nearby. Overpriced for water/electric hookup only on gravel sloped site right up front. Wish St. Louis offered better campgrounds, but we've tried them all and it's not good. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Gunter Hill COE, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Our favorite Corps of Engineers Campground! Perfectly level concrete sites with FHU’s, our only complaint is the lack of cell service — but in a beautiful place like this, 2 bars is just enough! We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Motorhome.

Easterlin Park Campground, Oakland Park, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Closest park to our kids! Nice sites, paved with FHU’s, shaded. Cons: Lots of iguanas who climb up in the trees and poop on the roof; had to wash the roof multiple times. Backs up to train tracks with frequent freight & Tri-Rail trains passing by day and night. We camped at Easterlin Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Great State Park: long sites, some pull-throughs, good water, 50 amps, sewer, level with sandy gravel and curbs. Picnic table and fire pit included. Try to find a site with shade! We camped at Lake Louisa State Park in a Motorhome.

Elijah Clark State Park, Lincolnton, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

The nicest park in the area!! We had a pull through FHU 50 amp site looking right out at the lake; our patio sat below the site with easy steps. After visiting the other parks in the area (across the Savannah River in South Carolina), we verified that this park was superior by far! Lots of room around our site, nice and dark and quiet at night; not too many boats on the water, mostly fishing. Our only complaint was the lack of cell coverage for working while there! The campground roads are not well marked - get familiar with the map! We camped at Elijah Clark State Park in a Motorhome.

Camp Lake Jasper RV Resort, Hardeeville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with easy access to Savannah and Hilton Head and the Low Country. Paved roads, unpaved sites with concrete patios. Nice restroom, shower house, wished for more time to try the pool; lake alongside as well as a dog park. Our site was a back-in 50 amp with FHU’s on hard-packed sandy dirt with an oversized patio, picnic table & fire ring. Gated campground for better security, nice staff - super clean all around. Our only complaint was the lack of cell coverage for our phones & hotspot. We camped at Camp Lake Jasper RV Resort in a Motorhome.

La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Although this is an Expensive campground, it checked all our boxes. Nice space although our site was not quite level. Great location, easy access to shopping. Full hookups, good water and electric. It was FREEZING while we were here so we did not get to use the pool area; fitness room and shower rooms are nice. Two dogs parks with ample trash/baggie receptacles. We would stay here again! We camped at La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

I-35 RV Park, Elm Mott, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 3 nights in February. Full Hookups, good water pressure, consistent electric. As others have said, the WiFi is not that good.
Cons: Spaces are fairly tight. Gravel sites, not quite level. I-35 highway noise (although it was too cold to have the windows open to hear it).
Pros: Easy access off interstate. Pull through sites in front of park. Very friendly and helpful staff. Dog park and nearby dog wash area! Little golf area and a catch & release fishing on site. The cutest herd of goats in the back area with tons of brand new babies this week! Free breakfast cooked to order with coffee, milk and juice! They are building covered seasonal parking in the very back of the property....weekend campers don’t go that far back.. Close enough to Waco to explore!
We would stay here again. We camped at I-35 RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thousand Hills State Park, Kirksville, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, some paved sights with 30/50 amps. Some paved basic sites. Second campground has gravel sights and 30 amps only. Clean shower houses and bathrooms. Nearby lake with boat and kayak rentals but you have to drive to it. The only issue is that many of the sights are short and not level. We camped at Thousand Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 weeks to visit our son; cannot recommend this campground. PROS: FHU, have to request a 50 amp site. I made my reservation months in advance online, would not guarantee a site #, even after I called a week ahead to confirm. Arrived to a 30 amp site that was too tight, had to go back & complain to get moved to a 50 amp site. If you like tall pine trees and an occasional bear, this is a good place for you. CONS: No discount for extended stay = $54/night Weak WiFi, could not log on most days. West AT&T signal, no Verizon. Tall trees = difficult DISH signal. Terrible entrance, either of 3 possible choices, not well marked from Hwy. 50. Rough roads, partly paved, so many pine needles it was hard to tell road from not road. Poor signage for the interior roads to find your site, roads wind in and around all the trees, sites not well marked. Dusty dirty sites, not paved at all. Airport just behind campground, lots of helicopter and plane noise. Airport is used for military high-altitude training at times with heavy helicopter traffic. Lots of staff, don't know what they do all day, did not seem to care about guests or their needs. Not many RV choices in South Lake; but I would rather not stay here again. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.
