Shady Grove Campground, Seibert, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, clean, small park, gravel sites, in a quiet small town neighborhood. It is divided in half by the office, so full timers (only a few) are separate from short stay campers. Owners are friendly, very helpful, and very appreciative of us "choosing to stay with them"! No dog park, but the surrounding area conducive to dog walking. It is close to I-70, can hear traffic with windows closed (August so AC in use), but we don't mind it. There is not a lot of traffic in that area anyway. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Coral Sands RV Park, Bluff, Utah

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Out of the eleven campgrounds we stayed at during a five week trip, this was one of our favorites! Because the stay was for a week, we received a discounted weekly rate. The camp host was very helpful, knew a lot about the area, and checked every afternoon to see how the day went and what we did. The only reason I rated it an 8 is because there is no bathhouse or dog park. There are limited picnic tables. We got there early enough to get the only one left. The spaces are very big so there is plenty of room between campers. The trees were just beginning to leaf out, so I can see how all the shade would be welcome when the weather heats up! There are two good restaurants within walking distance, one across the street serving three meals a day. The other is a steakhouse a couple of blocks away. Did not eat at that one. We did try the one at Twin Rocks, and that was very good. Had the Navajo taco. We camped at Coral Sands RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The area is full of Indian archeology and rock art. Lots of great hikes! Especially enjoyed the one that was part of the Morman wagon trail that ended at the San Juan River and an awesome panel of petroglyphs. Wagon trail was a real challenge for the pioneers. Visitors Center in Blanding has lots of info. Don't miss Edge of Cedars Museum.......is a repository for artifacts found in the area! Pretty amazing! Fort Bluff is great along with the cemetery and early Native American archeology.

Grape Country RV Park, Altus, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Our starting point was NC, and we wanted to get in a good days drive farther than Little Rock but closer than Ft. Smith and not far from I 40. There are not many parks in that area. We were told by the people at Wiederkehr Winery to give this one a call. Calls were returned promptly and the park turned out to be small with less than ten spaces but with full hookups and perfectly level gravel. What a surprise this area turned out to be, a big grape growing area! It was next to AR 186 but not a lot of traffic on a Saturday afternoon and evening. It is very peaceful with a vineyard directly across providing a gorgeous sunset. Oh, and by the way, there is wine tasting directly across the road close enough to walk! Toward the trees along the back of the park is a great area for dogs to either walk them on a leash, let them run, or throw a ball. Be mindful the road is not THAT far away for a rambunctious one!! There are some picnic tables among the trees for anyone to use. Would definitely stay here again! We camped at Grape Country RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ten Broek RV Park, Ten Sleep, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground for rv's, tents, and horse people. There is lots of shade everywhere. Horses have well kept corrals. The four nights we were there included horse trailers each night. It backs up to the rodeo arena and a football field. There is a nice dog walking area through the gate in the perimeter fence. The only thing that is different is the way the RV's park. There are about seven very long rows of parking, all lined with grass and trees in between so parking is front to back. The owner is right there with a bobcat to push or pull you in or out if you end up in the middle. Vehicle parking works in front of your RV if you are the first one in, or since you had to unhook anyway for bobcat assistance if you are not first, parking is along the perimeter. It really works well!!! A longer sewer drain could be needed. All sites have picnic tables. Would definitely stay here again! We camped at Ten Broek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has a central location in Cody, convenient to everything. Check in was easy however credit cards are not accepted, only cash or checks. There is a large gift store with a few camping essentials plus Walmart and Albertsons are not far. Dog walking is fairly easy. There is no enclosed dog area. Tent camping is available. There are even several big tipi's to use. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Conestoga Campground / Smith River Valley, White Sulphur Springs, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here four nights to attend the Red Ants Pants Music Festival!! Nice campground, close to town (within walking distance), quiet and clean. For the festival it was also a bus stop for transportation to and from the ranch area where it was held. Wifi was good, also cell phone (Verizon) reception. Nice places for walking dogs along outer perimeter or even all the way out along the road. Would stay here again. Overflow sites available with water & electric only, also dry sites. There is also a nice tent camping area in the middle with convenient shower, bathrooms, laundry close by. We camped at Conestoga Campground / Smith River Valley in a Travel Trailer.

Shell Campground, Shell, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for two nights to be able to do things in area. About 15 miles from Greybull, WY. Nice quiet campground, very well kept by a young couple. Shaded tent sites and cabins are also available. Small area for RV's but certainly adequate with some shade. They have Cornhole and free popcorn available. Enjoyed two types of local beer on tap from Ten Sleep Brewery. Would definitely stay here again! We camped at Shell Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Acres Campground, Lewistown, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived late afternoon on Sat. No one in office but name and site# was on bulletin board. Received a phone call once someone returned to office, which was nice. Check in was a little laborious due to main person being ill. This is the only campground in Lewistown. It was busy due to a state swim meet for kids. We stayed here to tour Bear Gulch Pictographs. Spaces were adequate, all with picnic tables, lots of garbage cans convenient to all sites, some trees, nice park across street for walking, good for dogs. Everything was clean and well kept. Permanent area was kept separate from vacationeers. Would stay here again. We camped at Mountain Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rio Verde RV Park, Cottonwood, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very convenient to Sedona and the attractions in the area. Our back in site looked down on the tent area and the river. There was no dog area as shown on the map. The site itself was adequate. Now for the rest. Upon arrival I was stopped by a couple who had been there for 3 weeks. They wanted to let me know about the water. An official governmental notice about it was up under the pavilion, but no one made mention of it at check-in. Apparently the arsenic levels are above the recommended levels. Not by a lot, but above. The park was mentioned specifically and not as part of a general area and/or city problem. The couple said to consider bottled water, which we did. There is a Walmart not far away. So, basically this was a place to sleep, not one to relax and enjoy this beautiful area. It was hard to find any vacancies in the area due to Spring Break, so was happy this was available. If the same situation arose in the future, I would return, not happily, but prepared! We camped at Rio Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Manzano's RV Park, Silver City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is awesome! It is what the owners wanted to do in their retirement, and they work tirelessly to make it top notch. Most spots are back in and ours was a little troublesome getting into only because we tried the quickest way first but no problem going around the circle and backing into from the other direction. The road coming in is a dirt road but short and maintained. Owners even call you the day before to give you precise directions as GPS doesn't. All sites have a picnic table and a small bench to sit on. Our spot (17) looked out to the west, so beautiful sunsets. As said in other reviews the clubhouse is a converted former home. There is a small workout room, library, kitchen, laundry room (one washer and dryer but $1.00 per load). Everything is spotless! The grounds are nicely landscaped with desert plants. Owners are friendly and helpful. Would definitely return! We camped at Manzano's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Awesome park! Sites are great, some more open than others. Ours, #17, was tucked back in some trees with a shaded picnic table. Other sites more out in the open had covered picnic tables. Bathrooms very clean, dump station easily accessible. Rock art is some of the best! Guided tours very informative. There is limited admittance to the park due to its sensitive historical significance. Reservations needed for guided tours. Call way in advance. They are popular. Lost Alaskan RV Park, Alpine, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice RV park. Owners work hard to keep it in tip top shape! Sites are big, with trees (pine trees so there will always be shade), cement picnic table on a raised pad. There is a play area for kids, nice pool, sheltered tent sites, and a pretty big dog park, but it was pretty dusty if they ran (got dirty pretty fast). There was even a place to wash your RV!! There were quite a few full timers, but that was not a problem at all. Laundry room was spotless! Located just outside of Alpine on north side, medical center across the main road, convenient to town and attractions. Burning ban in effect, grills OK, no open fires. Fresh eggs for sale in office! Big Bend Resort & Adventures RV Park & Campground (Big Bend Motor Inn), Terlingua, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is right on the main road going into Big Bend National Park. A couple of restaurant choices are across the street and one at entrance to RV park. It is a very big park, not much space in between campers but quite a lot of space in between rows. There is some sort of facility that has a pretty loud generator type piece of equipment. It makes a loud humming sound and is very noticible at night. Any sites at the center or the north side would probably not notice it. Our site (98) backed up to some big dirt mounds which the grandkids loved playing on. There were a few instances I witnessed where people had to return to the check in office because the space they had been assigned was already taken. This kept us from being able to be next to family arriving the following day. The folks next to us pulled into the spot after arriving around 8:30 PM. Their assigned place was taken, so they pulled into the one next to us rather than return to office. We understood completely as they were traveling with 3 kids, two of which were twin infants! Pretty hot, would not want to be here any later in the spring. There are very few picnic tables. You can get your name on a list to have one moved to your site. We did that but never received one. Bring a table. Burning ban in effect, grills OK. We camped at Big Bend Resort & Adventures RV Park & Campground (Big Bend Motor Inn) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

First time experience in a state park, and it was great! Spaces far apart with some plant/tree separation. Picnic tables are covered. Fire pits provided. Bathrooms and showers (2) were very clean. There are hiking and biking trailers. Guided tour of pictographs was very good. Visitor Center's small interpretive center was great! Staff even let us move our travel trailer close to Visitor Center due to attending another guided program that ended after checkout time. Area patrolled often by State park official and even state park police. Site was a little tight for our travel trailer but due to space between sites it was not a problem. Will definitely return if in the area! We camped at Seminole Canyon State Park in a Travel Trailer.
