Evergreen Coho SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only), Chimacum, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Not like any SKP park we've ever stayed. We reserved two months and tried to find other campgrounds, but it was summer and all were booked. The park manager lacks people skills, and they expect him to tell newbies about the socials gatherings, etc. No SKP member ever greeted us or told us anything about the park, unlike all the other SKP parks we have been. You have to sign up on an hourly slot to do laundry. There are 8 washers. Twice I signed up to use the remaining washers in a time slot requiring three washers by another member, and twice I was asked if I had signed up for that time slot. It's like they do not want anyone else in there when they are doing theirs. My husband threw some extra birdseed into the forested area behind our MH, and here comes the park manager to rail on us about it, even though nothing grows back there, and the seeds were all eaten by the birds the next day. Some campers/residents were cordial to us during our stay, however, we strongly suspect a vast majority of the residents have never RV'd in their lives, and Evergreen is their only alternative to a nursing home; an unfriendly and curmudgeonly folk. The SKP name should be replaced with Chimicum Convalescent. We will not return to this park. We camped at Evergreen Coho SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Ancient Redwoods RV Park, Redcrest, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stay while exploring the Redwoods. While the park is in the redwoods there are no redwoods in the park, just kinda an open space in the forest. We arrived on opening day of the park, so they we just getting started for the season. There had been record rainfall in the park so they had not had time to mow, but they apologized for it. No OTA TV channels or cable. T Mobile is dead here also. The WiFi, not owned or run by the park, is a ripoff. We were given 7 passes good for 1Gb each, they lasted a very short time with us not streaming, just doing our normal activity. We purchased 12 additional Gigs by the weeks end, at $5 each. These had a very short life too! We lived on 10Gb a month plan at home for years with no problem. Just remember you are here for the Redwoods, not to play on the internet. In our defense it rained non stop for 7 days so were kind of shut in. Entrance to park is a little hard to find coming from the north, it's out of site from the main road, just turn into the Immortal Tree Parking lot and you are there. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Get out and hike the Redwoods, there is nothing like it anywhere in the USA! Nearest real grocery store is in Fortuna, 25 miles away. Check out the Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka. Make the drive over to Shelter Cove and have a beer with the locals at Mario's. DON'T try this in your RV, can't be done!! Eat at the Avenue Cafe in Miranda, it's great. Walk the main street of Ferndale, lots to see.

Willits KOA, Willits, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park as a base to explore the Ft Bragg area, not wanting to travel CA 20 in our 40ft bus. The park was very nice and clean with all hookups working fine. There seem to be a lot of things going on during the summer, but most were shut down during our stay in the winter. The staff was very friendly and easy to deal with. Pool and hot tub were closed for the winter, this was posted on their web site. There are 3 sites with your own hot tub, they are $20 a night higher. We upgraded for 2 nights of our week long stay to one of them, money well spent!!!! We camped at Willits KOA in a Motorhome.

Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park in a great location. They work very hard to keep the park clean and neat. All hook ups worked great, water pressure was a little low, but not a problem. Cable and WiFi were good too. Price is a little high for me, but you have to pay to be in a great location. Office staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a pull in site, we do not see many of these in our travels, but caused no problems. Be very careful of letting your Garmin RV GPS getting you there. Ours sent us Coleman Valley Road, don't try it!! Was a big mistake. Take Hwy 12 to Bodega Hwy, then to CA1. Park entrance is a little hard to find, just look behind the La Bodegueta Mexican Food restaurant, yes the food was great there. We camped at Bodega Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tiki Lagun Resort & Marina, Stockton, California

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

No,No,No, not for the traveler, only long term should stop here!!!!! Unlevel mud sites with poor 30 amp elec, terrible water, no cable or wifi. Hard to get to, hard to get a big rig in. Booked for 2 months over 4 months ahead, got there they had no record of me calling, gave me a 5 page application wanting more info than a bank loan requires. Paid for a week so we could regroup, even then they wanted insurance and registration!!! Park looked like most there had neither. Not a good place in anyway!!! We camped at Tiki Lagun Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

The park was a disaster, but found some fun with a few locals. Yongs Delta Tavern up the road has great food and drinks!!!! DO Not try to come in on Holt road, has a 13.5 high 9' wide "Subway" bridge on it, use Island Drive! McDonald road coming in, the only way in, could be the worst paved road I have ever been on.

Lake Park RV Resort, Lake Elsinore, California

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Park is really set up for long term, but there is a short time area. Good price for So Cal, with a good location from the beaches, LA and San Diego. Paid $700 with elec for first month, then $550 plus $150 elec deposit for second month. Elec was 259.00 the second month. They keep your deposit saying they will mail it to you. The town around you is full of homeless, but they caused no problems in the park. Pool was heated. Laundry was small, so get there early. Cable and WiFi were great. I would not call Lake Elsinore a lake, just a very nasty body of water. We camped at Lake Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed here during off season,we were the only travelers in the park. Park is going through some up grades for the new season, pool was not finished. All hook ups were fine, no cable for us. Laundry was great, did not look at rec room. Once we checked in never saw the staff again, but that was OK we did not need them. We camped at American Trails RV Park in a Motorhome.

Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only), Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Could be the nicest place we have ever stayed! It's a Co-op so you rent a lease holders spot, that is very nice. Great deal for all. No reservations taken but did not see them turn anyone in the week we were there. Lots of dry camping for only a few dollars. There was some type of activity going on all the time. We attended "Happy Hour", went to a dance with great band and took a day trip in the mountains with the Jeep group. You better be ready to visit and wave at everybody you meet! Park was very clean and organized. All hook ups were perfect with great cable TV. This stay alone paid for our Escapees membership. Stayed a week for $100.00 including electric! We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Hiking trails were easy, but offered a great way to explore the area.No paved roads anywhere, lots of dust to get your rig very dirty.Park was very tight for our 40 ft motor home, but we got in and out with no problems.Cost an extra $14.00 to book online, would recommend reservations as park was full when we were there in the middle of the week. Overall Rating:

Beautiful park in a country setting. Only a few miles out of town, but very easy to get to everything. Staff was very easy to deal with. Grandkids enjoyed the playground, we enjoyed the changing of the trees. We have stayed in other parks in Lubbock during our travels, but this will be our go to park in the future. All hookups were great with super WIFI. No cable but plenty of channels with antenna. Concrete pad made parking easy and clean. We camped at Lubbock RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed a week here to kinda rest and relax from being going hard for the last month. Most people are in and out in a day or two, but we enjoyed the clam peaceful setting. Owner and staff are great people, very friendly. Beautiful setting away from anything. Yes it's close to the Interstate but the noise is not a problem. WiFi worked great. A few Over-The-Air channels, but who needs it with the views around here! DON'T use GPS to get there, it will send you through town to an entrance you cant use!!! No major chain stores nearby so stuff costs a little more but keeps the small town feel alive. Cork Town bar was great!!!!!! Be sure and take the country drives - all are great.
