Korte's Checkers Welcome Campground, Welcome, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a campground not an RV Resort, but it is a really good campground. The staff is very helpful and they "think like a camper". For example, our 41 foot 5 slide 5er filled up our site and a tree limb was brushing one of our slides ... without us asking, they came by and trimmed the tree limb. The park is clean and well kept. A number of "long termers" but the area was kept very neat by all occupants. Plenty of room for our dually. Enjoyed our stay and very likely to return. We camped at Korte's Checkers Welcome Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fairmont is about 10 miles away and offers a Walmart, BK, McDonalds, several nicer restaurants (we liked Bean Town), liquor store. Reasonable diesel.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We asked for and got a satellite friendly spot. It was a 90 degree jack knife and the road was narrow. I had to ask others to move their cars/trucks so I could get in ... and again so I could leave. There is insufficient parking in the area I was in. Otherwise this was a nice park. We took the NY bus tour which is offered by the campground ... highly recommended way to see NY City. Friendly staff. Above average park ... just need to fix the parking thing. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Take the NY City bus tour offered by the campground ... let someone else deal with the traffic and the tour guide offers a lot of interesting info ... including where to get the best NYC Cheesecake ... that's all I'm saying.

Katy Lake RV Resort, Katy, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

A lot of full time residents. Although the park was paved, the maneuvering area is tight ... this is because most sites are 90 degree backins, so jackknifing was necessary. There is a nice area to walk around the centrally located man made pond/lake. We camped at Katy Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Philadelphia / West Chester KOA, Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

All the comments made by others about sites being unlevel and the park being very hilly are true. Sites are gravel. The roads leading to this campground are very curvy and NARROW. While this is not the park's fault, it is something you will have to deal with nonetheless. Call for arrival directions ... your GPS will certainly get you lost. Friendly and helpful staff. If you have a roof mounted satellite, you'll need to be selective on your site as there are many tall trees to contend with. Site 31 is big rig friendly and DirecTV roof mounted dish friendly. It is an expensive park and rates go UP on the weekends. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Beautiful area and good shopping within 20 minutes. Take the tour of Philadelphia offered by the campground. The tour guide (Rick) is super knowledgable and makes the tour a high value purchase. Bring cash on the tour as the deli we went to didn't take credit cards (but it did have an ATM).

Close to a couple of nice public beaches without the beach front prices. Cottages are very nice too. Pool is screened so bugs are not a problem. Nice place, definitely will stay again. We camped at Live Oak Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Pelican Point RV Park, Cherry Point MCAS, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Of the nine famcamps we have stayed in (so far) this was the best. Very well maintained, clean, quiet and well laid out. Paved roads (blacktop) and large concrete sites (pull thru and back in). Would definitely stay there again. We camped at Pelican Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Use the Slocum gate ... both it and the main gate (Rosevelt) are just off 70. The main gate has a 13'6" clearance (unavoidable) and the Slocum gate has no such restrictions. After entering the Slocum gate, go straight until you turn left on Rosevelt ... follow that to the campground using the very clear and obvious signage.

Moon Landing RV Park & Marina, Cross Hill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here because of the two 5 star ratings ... they were wrong. Nice people who run the place, but the mostly permanent residents kept their places surrounded by junk. I won't go back. Repeating myself, nice folks running the place but it is a mess. Below average IMO. These reviews are supposed to allow us to help each other and the two people who gave this place top reviews have done a disservice to the rest of us. We camped at Moon Landing RV Park & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Alsatian Resort & Golf Club, Castroville, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was the very first RV Resort we ever stayed in ... and we have come back every year. After two years of travel, this may be one of the nicest RV Resorts we have ever stayed at. Great spots ... lots of concrete and angled parking, so no jack knifing needed, pull thrus are available for those who prefer them and Motor Homes can select a Casita site on the golf course. Awesome management. Friendly and helpful ... more importantly they are present. It's easy to find someone to help. The facility is clean, well run and safe. Near a small town (Castroville) that has a super Walmart, what more could you ask for? We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Castroville Cafe and the Alsatian Restaurant are both very good. The Resort is very close to a nice golf course, which has a pretty good restaurant (set to open in April 2018). Close to San Antonio ... so the Alamo, Missions, top shelf restaurants, River Walk, many golf courses, shopping malls are all very convenient. Love this place.
