Banner Creek Reservoir and Campground, Holton, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

When we first entered the park it looked well above what we expected for a county park, however, after we settled in for the Labor day weekend the park management allowed a group with 4 pick up trucks, two travel trailers, 2 generators, 2 boats and two Jet Skis to park in the tent camping area where they quickly took over the whole place with the gear/toys parked all over the place and running the generators which made it impossible to sit outside and have a conversation. Two additional car loads of visitors showed up for the first night as well. When management was contacted they made the group place all of their equipment on the tent area but did not have them turn off the generators. The generators ran for the whole weekend, day and night, quiet times meant nothing to them and management did not correct the issue. Other campers did not pick up after their large dogs and still others claimed the only water spigot as a personal hook up which is designed for 4 lots to share. All in all, the park is a nice place to visit for a day of fun and play but it is not a place to camp for the weekends or holidays. I will not return to this location and we stayed only 4 days of the seven we paid for. Do not try to camp here on weekends or holidays. Management is no help when it comes to regulation enforcement. We camped at Banner Creek Reservoir and Campground in a Motorhome.

Harbor Lakes RV Resort, Port Charlotte, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First up, would I stay here again.. absolutely. The rate reflects the price for a week long stay. Convenient to the training sports park for the Tampa bay Rays and local amenities. 50 amp service, pet friendly, good WIFI coverage from both Verizon and the paid provider. We had just purchased our motor home and this was our first RV park location. We lived in the area and picked this park based on location and the ability to get set up in our new home. The park has excellent WIFI coverage from Verizon and 5 meg download speeds from the JABBA wifi provider which is a little pricey. No free WIFI is available at the site but free WIFI is available in the club house. The very professional & friendly staff is excellent and the park is well maintained with the streets in pretty good shape for the most part. Nice and wide for large rigs and few, if any, bad spots. The site is considered grass but most of the grass has worn away from heavy use which leaves mostly sand and dirt that is easily tracked into the coach even with an outdoor rug to mitigate for the lack of a pad. However, the site is very spacious and very well maintained with rock solid 50 amp electric and the water pressures were very good. There are a lot of permanent modular homes in this park but it is still a quiet and very safe location. No garbage pick up at the site, you have to take your garbage to a central location near the entrance. The garbage drop off site is large and it's not difficult to use with plenty of space to turn around in. Overall, this is a great park for the most part and would have received 5 stars in every category if the site had a concrete pad and garbage pick up had been provided. The price was a little high for being in April and charged as peak season which should have ended at the end of March when most snowbirds head North but that seems to be standard for Florida's west coast parks. We stayed 2 weeks. We camped at Harbor Lakes RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Publix grocery store just down the road going toward Englewood on 776. In the same little shopping center is a gas station that has snacks available day and night with reasonable gas and diesel prices for the area.
