Louisville South KOA, Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times since it is a few miles from family. They have made some recent property upgrades...better and new play area, better dump site, premium tent sites, many workers making sure place is clean. Pool, propane fill, activities at this KOA Holiday Park. We camped at Louisville South KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Clinton / Knoxville North KOA, Clinton, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Conveniently located off of I75 but far enough so road noise not an issue. Near restaurants and stores but a little too far to go into downtown Knoxville. KOA Journey park with mix of seasonal campers on one side and short termers in a separate pull through section. Strong water, wifi, cable and electric. Friendly and service oriented staff. Typical KOA experience ...would use again for a one-two nighter. We camped at Clinton / Knoxville North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Really enjoyed the Appalachian Museum, spent several hours touring buildings and tons of artifacts...make time to see surplus it is 5 minutes from cg. Habaneros Mexican Grill is really near with very good food. Pizza Plus is 15 minutes away in Andersonville...good thin crust pizza and salad buffet.

Well maintained and staffed CG along the Coosa River and Black Creek lake. Level sites with multiple pools, kid area, lit path, marina, docks, piers, chapel, gated entry, meeting rooms and next to shopping, supplies, etc. Wifi, cable, electric and water were good. We would stay here again. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Riverside RV Resort, Robertsdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Smaller park with a mix of seasonal and transient campers along the Styx River. Blacktop and concrete pads with newer pedestals. Electric, water, and wifi are good. Owners have been there 3 years and work hard to keep park neat and safe. Sites are tight but owner helps direct in some of the more difficult spots. There are some pull thrus. Laundry good. Nice covered patio right on river. Tubing companies next door. Washer/dryer equipped RVs will be told not to use their own but use CG laundry. We camped at Riverside RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Water sports on river ( it's got a sandy bottom). Foley has a large park with events, Vitoli Pizza is good...Derailed Diner is fun and the shrimp tacos are good. There is a truck/RV wash at the exit. Gulf Shores and Mobile are about 30 minutes away. Shooting range on the exit to park as well.

River View RV Park & Resort, Vidalia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

At the time, about 1/3 of the campground was flooded, laundry washers and bath house unavailable and no septic at sites because of the Mississippi River and the CG pumping station under water. Sites were level gravel and the campground had a pumper truck available to take your black water at no cost. They told us to dump gray water into grass at our site. Lit walkway was nice...except one end was under water. Main gravel park road was busy with traffic from long term campers. Work campers were nice and helpful. Nice looking pool. No cable and wifi was unstable and pretty useless...had to go to office and sit in lounge for stable signal. Fun watching barges on the river day and night. CG is super convenient to historic Natchez just across the bridge. Would stay here again if river is tame! We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

There are 18 antebellum homes that can be toured. Visitor Center in Natchez has discount if you buy multiple tours. We enjoyed Rosalie, Auburn and especially Longwood homes. Cotton Alley Cafe, Roux 61 and the Donut Shop were very good. The Old South Winery was a throwback 40 years...low prices on a variety of muscadine based wines of good quality...nice people, too. You won't have place to sit and sip but buy a few bottles and enjoy.

Overall Rating:

Hospitable staff, quick propane help, level gravel site, convenient to highway but road noise is not noticeable. Appear to have a mix of seasonal and transient campers...cg hosts some free breakfasts and other activities. Would stay here again if in this Lafayette area. CG has a small pool - but heated salt water...nice. We camped at Frog City RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Tabasco factory tour is interesting. Jungle Gardens ,near Tabasco, is really worthwhile...alligators, turtles, egrets, camellias, azaleas...pack a lunch and enjoy. Konriko Rice Mill tour was a little underwhelming...but good products available. Local cuisine at Cajun Claws really good, plus huge quantities of food. It is a lot nicer inside than outside looks plus it is less than a mile from cg. Locals love Lagneaux for Cajun buffet...but you need to like fried everything...

Grand Ecore RV Park, Natchitoches, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

New park with spacious sites (concrete plus blacktop), pedestals, grass, activity center, huge bath and laundry, playground and access to Cane River. Gated access, nice staff. Road to campground 2.7 miles from main road has a few rough spots, so be aware and go slow. You pass a public shooting range, not really noticeable. Campground is fenced and surrounded by fields with cattle...nice to occasionally see them. Heard coyotes one night so watch your dog at night -which we all do. Close to historic Natchitoches... We camped at Grand Ecore RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

North Crest RV Park, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The owner of 26 years, is very customer focused, helpful, accommodating, funny and plays a mean set of drums. Super wide concrete pad and patio at our site. Everything clean, roads a little tight but manageable. Only park where the owner helped to back in site plus, he called first evening in to see if all was good and if we needed anything. Super fast propane pickup and delivery. Some seasonals at park. Close to Waco proper. If you are noise sensitive, I-35 is near and goes 24/7. Wifi, water and electric all good. Antenna reception was good. Laundry was large and clean. We camped at North Crest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Angels in Goliad RV Park, Goliad, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Camp is at edge of Goliad near groceries and fuel. About 62 sites, mostly seasonal campers. Electric, water, and wifi were good. Manager was very accommodating...everything was completed via phone and online. No amenities at park except fairly long and level sites with comfortable spacing. Rained really hard the whole day before we left and there were rivers of water. I was impressed that by morning, water had drained away. We camped at Angels in Goliad RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Goliad is a picturesque town built around a huge courthouse in the heart of Texas` struggle for independence. Go to the Presidio la Bahia and the Goliad Massacre monument for understanding the historical significance of this geography. Perhaps more significant than the Alamo defeat in ending resistance to independence for Texas. Plus, General Zaragoza was born here. He led a Mexican army in a victory over the French army....on May 5, 1862....and why Cinco De Mayo is still celebrated.

RV Park USA, Comfort, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Mostly full time residents with half dozen spots for transient travelers. Nice laundry. Dumpster has a lock on it so enter code. Old sites with some very rutted gravel plus raised concrete curbs to maneuver around. Power and water were fine. Large rigs may struggle to make immediate right off of highway onto service/access road to park. Propane tank says "out of business". We stayed here to be close to family in Waring. Nicely maintained KOA within a few miles of historic San Angelo Riverwalk. Sites were level gravel with good electric and water. Propane was available and fairly priced. Situated near a park, a lake and an airport. Planes approach overhead during day, so be aware, we were exploring the area so it was not an issue. Helpful staff, park set amongst old mesquite trees. Buffalo Gap Historical Village was interesting. Frontier Texas is a very interesting primarily indoor museum with high tech holographic displays. The Winery at Willow Creek deserved several visits with a good variety of wines, light appetizers and patio right next to creek. We hadn't had pizza for a few months and Little Italy Pizza filled the gap with good pizza, salads and tiramisu. Donuts at Abilene Donuts were tasty, too!

Stinson RV Park, Campbell, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Two year old park that is in process of being developed. Very heavily full of seasonal campers. Very hospitable owners who sponsored a Saturday morning donut social for campers to get to know each other. Appreciated that they do a background check on folks staying for more than a month...appropriate safety and security. Plans in place for a tavern/brewery next door by July 2019. Water and electric good...some sites could stand some grading since gravel and rains have had a negative impact. Owner told us to pick one of 5 sites when we arrived...we picked most level. No cable, clean laundry ($1.50 wash; $1.00 dry). Wifi below average. Would come back in year to see developments. We camped at Stinson RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
