Verde River RV Resort & Cottages , Camp Verde, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects weekly rate. They charge $1 daily for more than one vehicle. Landscaping is a work in progress and they are attempting to grow grass in the sites. Four washers $2.25 for front loaders and $1.75 for top loaders. Six dryers at $1.75. OTA channels were excellent. Wifi was sporadic but we were told on check-in that they were in the process of changing providers. Speed limit is strictly enforced with initial warning at check-in. We used the pool and hot tub once. We camped at Verde River RV Resort & Cottages in a Fifth Wheel.

Midway RV Park, Dexter, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

We were assigned an easy to pull through site after leaving the dump station. Our site was on the end and we had shade a limited grass. The site was large enough that we could park our truck next to the 5th wheel. There were several long term residents in the back row. Although we were at the intersection of 2 highways, the traffic noise died down at night. Easy access in to Roswell. OTA channel reception was good. Wifi was adequate. No credit cards accepted; cash or check only. We camped at Midway RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Level packed gravel site with crushed red rock around the picnic table. The sites are not laid out in straight rows so navigation through the park was a little awkward. Check in is at the gas station. Good OTA reception. Wifi was sporadic. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pie Town RV Park, Pie Town, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Only 5 sites but nice. Owner lives on site and was very friendly and helpful. We had to wait to park while they leveled the new river rock in our site. Our site had the only tree. Check, cash or credit card accepted. Cash/check can be left in drop box. No OTA, wifi, of cell service but Pie Town is in a remote area. Due to excessive winds, we were allowed to stay as long as necessary. We camped at Pie Town RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Eat at The Gathering Place. The best BLT I ever had. Individual pies are made on site with over 2 dozen varieties. If they don't have what you order, they will make it while you wait.

Edgington RV Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects weekly rate or $75. Nightly rate is $18. Cash or check only. Several long term residents toward the front with overnight sights in the back out of site of the long terms. Buddy sites were extremely close with some awnings overlapping. Sites 19 & 20 are the best since a tree prohibits parking closer while 17 & 18 were probably the worst. All sites are pull through with w & e only along the pond. Owner escorted everyone to their sites. One of the best libraries/book exchange I have seen with plenty of books and sofa so one could read there. Two washers and dryers at $1.00 per load. One dryer heating element was going out but owner was going to repair it once I told him. Good OTA reception but no wifi. We camped at Edgington RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Limestone CG at Brantley Lake is a distance off the highway and the pavement is not maintained well. Sheltered picnic table with one wall was some protection from the wind. The lake was not easily accessible for fishing. Within the site it was level but most of the sites were on an incline. Ours was not quite as inclined as others. Using the Relief Route avoids downtown Carlsbad. Camp host was very helpful. OTA channels but no wifi. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Harry McAdams Campground, Hobbs, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is at the far end of a large city park. Rate reflects weekly rate of $90. Nightly rate is $18. Cash or check only in a drop box. Campground host on site but never interacted with them. Showers required a code but we never saw the host to get that code. Picnic table protected by 3 walls on concrete slab. OTA reception was good. San Angelo State Park, San Angelo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects the weekly charge of $100 plus the $56 day use fee. Nightly rate is $18 plus the day use fee. Large pull through site easily accessed from paved road. Covered picnic table provided shade. Sign posted all week that there was no hot water in the ladies shower. This is a former COE managed by the state so sites are large. OTA reception was good. We camped at San Angelo State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC, Sayre, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a work in progress. No showers or restrooms yet but the laundry room has two washers/dryers and is FREE. There is a nice outdoor community area but the weather was not conducive to socializing. Easily accessible from I40 but you can't really hear the highway traffic. WB the turn into the entrance is a little sharp but using the deserted gas station entrance makes it easier. Steep hill going into the park. We arrived with no reservations and had our choice of sites. The owner showed us the sites and then registered us at the site. We were in one of the sites furthest from the WiFi so it wasn't always the best. We were able to get 22 channels OTA. Rate reflects weekly rate of $135. We camped at Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC in a Fifth Wheel.

Robinson's Landing, Lawton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

The concrete pads at lakeside were back ins and there were some deep erosion ruts around the sites. We chose a site further from the lake also with concrete pad but at a reduced rate. In order to get to the campground you have to drive through a residential area and the streets are narrow. We camped at Robinson's Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Central State Park at Lake Arcadia, Edmond, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The 10 pull through sites sat on a knoll so leveling was not easy. You had to pull up into the site and then forward to get as level as possible before adding several leveling blocks. Site 510 was the only one that was long enough on the knoll so leveling would have been easier. However there was an electrical issue with that site. We camped at Central State Park at Lake Arcadia in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access off the turnpike. 16 pull through sites in front of mobile home park about 100 yards from the highway but there was little highway noise at night. Daily rate reflects $150 weekly rate. Bear Lake North RV Park, Saint Charles, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept campground. It was the week of July 4th so was full. Sites could have been mowed but the common areas had been mowed. The sites had gravel pads but not long enough to accommodate the larger rigs so we had to level our rig on the grass which was a little soft. Tent sites along the south side were shady with fire pits. However the parking for those sites made it difficult to negotiate our rig out. Luckily we were able to back up and get on the road out. Owners were very nice. While Bear Lake was beautiful, recreation was pretty much for those with boats/jet skis. We found no place to fish from the shore or have a picnic. We did drive around the lake to find more tourist activities at the south end. The road down the east side of the lake was under construction with pilot cars and surfaces down to the bedrock. There is a small string of souvenir shops where you turn to go to the lake. They also have a drive in and small store for basic supplies. We camped at Bear Lake North RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Creek RV Park, Twin Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park next to Rock Creek which allows for convenient fishing. The back in sites had lawns while the pull throughs had crushed asphalt. It has a day use area and when a party got rowdy the camp host intervened. The drive down into the park was built before larger RVs and thus a little narrower than we'd like. The same was true for the park exit with the addition of potentially having to stop on the hill for any incoming campers. We camped at Rock Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A trip to Shoshone Falls is a must see. Also park at Best Buy to get the best view of BASE jumpers if they are there. We happened to see them on the bridge and quickly headed to Best Buy to watch the jump. It's about a 90 minute drive to Craters of the Moon and worth the drive.
