Sunbeam Lake RV Resort, El Centro, California

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

My price reflects a month stay. If RV Resort living is your game, this is a great place. The staff have been warm and helpful to us. The amenities are great. The pool and spa is kept clean. They also do a great job of keeping the local riff raff out with a fence and gate. It's also a quiet resort, mostly snow birds from Canada and some year-round residents. We saw very few noisy kids here. Verizon 4G LTE comes in extremely well. The spaces are deep and wide, enough to park your pickup truck side by side with your trailer. Water pressure and 50amp service came in great. Some drawbacks are that they are very strict about limiting dog walking to the South side of the resort. A number of residents spread bird seed which brings in flocks of pigeons, doves, grackles, and other flying-poop machines that leave a mess on your roof. Also, the resort Wi-Fi is limited to one device per space, and if you stream movies on it, they kick you off. But if you can use your cellphone's data plan, you're better off using that. Otherwise, for the low monthly prices, you get friendly staff, lots of peace and quiet, and no fugly neighbors. We camped at Sunbeam Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Premier RV Resort of Salem Oregon, Salem, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate reflects a 14 day stay. Beautiful park, filled with expensive class A's and massive 5th wheels. There are several others who live here, based on my conversations with them at the hot tub, however they all keep their spaces and rigs pretty clean. I liked the free newspaper delivery each day. The pull through space we had seemed small for our 33 foot toy hauler, giving us some trouble finding a place to park our pickup truck. The spaces are rather close to each other too. Our neighbor was a family with 7 kids, who trampled all over our sewer hose, and made lots of noise. The park is full of kids, who yell and scream all day and night. We camped at Premier RV Resort of Salem Oregon in a Travel Trailer.

Sweetwater Summit Regional Park, Bonita, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best kept secrets in San Diego County, no more! This RV park is cleaner, larger, and more scenic than any of the other RV parks in the area, but costs way less. Because it's owned by the County, they don't worry about making a profit and can pour more money into it. There's a decent amount of space between lots. There are no raunchy parties going on, no screaming kids, but you get great views of hills, canyons, and Sweetwater Reservoir. There's hiking out here too. Wi-Fi is free, but tough to get on because everyone else is streaming Netflix, so definitely bring your own Jetpack. Before taking a reservation here, call the Park office and get a membership, which costs only $30.00, but gets you $3.00 discount per night, and eliminates the $5.00 park reservation fee. Space #129 has the most killer view, but is very conspicuous from other spaces. Space #112 is a handicapped space, but offers the most privacy, and has a view of Sweetwater Reservoir; the park will book it to you if every other space is booked, or if you have any proof of disability, like a Medicare card, Disabled National Parks Pass, et al. There's a section of the park where spaces have horse corrals. One section is all dirt, and another is all paved. There are several restroom/shower facilities. The showers are coin-operated. The staff here is very friendly, the camp spots are generally well taken care of. Lots of bunny rabbits running around. The park sells long-burning firewood for $5.00. Maximum length of stay is 21 nights, and then you can come back after 7 days. We camped at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA, Oak Grove, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly staff, clean grounds, quiet aside from noise from the interstate. They accommodated us as a walk in when we needed to stay in town unexpectedly. One of the camp guides helped me center my trailer next to the sewer hookup. The laundry room was clean, and not crowded with other people waiting. The only real downside is that the camp spots are very close to each other. Otherwise I felt really pleased with my stay. We camped at Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here from April 26 to May 1, 2017. It rained entire time here. The power pedestal failed to work. We called the RV Park office (which is the casino hotel), and they dispatched a couple of guys who normally work the casino. They tested the pedestal and said it worked fine. We complained the next day, and someone else admitted that several of the pedestals were out and that they were working on them. We finally got power from the 50 amp outlet, but it wasn't full 50 amps, it was far less, and not enough to power our microwave. Aside from a dedicated restroom and laundry room, this RV Park offers little else. You can get much more for your money from a KOA, and still pay the same amount. This RV Park did offer complimentary hot breakfast as part of the Hotel service. This RV Park does not have its own dedicated staff, it instead is administered by the Hotel staff, who is not trained or prepared in the business of running an RV Park. We camped at Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The casino itself is really nice, as are the restaurants inside. It's the only reason to tolerate the otherwise spotty RV park.
