Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park), Eloy, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with majority of long term residents but a small area for overnighters. The staff is excellent and even offered to stay open late if we would arrive after their normal hours. Has a pool and hot tub but as it was in the 20's we did not go there. Nice "dog park" next to the park where you can run your pets as far as they want. Close to I-10 but without the traffic noise. There are train tracks nearby that can be heard. All in all we liked the park and will use it again when in the area. We camped at Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Monahans Sandhills State Park, Monahans, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent State Park! Office is located near the entrance and very close to the railroad and I-8, while the campground is about a mile inland and very quiet. Sand dunes are impressive, just wish we had the time to hike the area. Very windy the day we were there and I understand this is common. The town of Monahan's is a small typical oil town, kind of dirty and rough around the edges. We did find an excellent restaurant the "Jazz Café", looks run down from the outside but a pleasant surprise inside. Good food and service. We camped at Monahans Sandhills State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Copper Mountain RV Park, Tacna, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park in the middle of Southern Arizona. Half a mile off of I-8 and the railroad tracks, so noise is not an issue. Park is spotless and well maintained. Town has one resteraunt and one service station, so not much there. Government lands adjoin the park and some campers had all terrain vehicles. Plenty of spaces with a mix of pull throughs and back ins. Staff was friendly and show you to your site. We stayed for one night and will return whenever we are in the area. We camped at Copper Mountain RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Texas Star RV Ranch, Melissa, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First, the good. The park has six concrete pads for campers. All are fairly new, level, long and come with full hook ups. The site is adjoined by a farm field and what appears to be a farm, hence the name. The bad. Current road construction in the area has eliminated/moved roads leading to the site so GPS did not find it. Driving past the site there is no sign to identify the campground just an address by a dirt driveway. If you looked from the street you could not tell there is a campground, just piles of junk! And there in lies the problem. Junk is piled everywhere around the campground. Abandoned trailers and vehicles, ice machines and misc. piles of stuff! In fairness to the owner many of the abandoned vehicles/trailers have notices attached requiring their removal. Besides the six camp sites there are additional campers setup on the ground that are older and in some disrepair. Another camper advised that the owner tries to help the disadvantaged with a place to stay. This part I could live with. There are no restrooms or shower on the property and no manager. The owner lives in the area and responds to phone calls. The park is coinvent to McKinney and if it were cleaned up I would stay there again. We camped at Texas Star RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

White Springs RV Park, White Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at this park. Small but well maintained amid beautiful oaks. The owners are special and make everyone feel welcome. A bit of a drive to shopping and dining but the beauty of the setting makes up for it. Large spacious sites with full hook ups and fire rings with firewood included. Close to I-75 and I-10 without the traffic noise. Due to the large number of mature oak trees satellite reception is spotty. We camped at White Springs RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park, Macon, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Gem of a park! Close to everything but quiet and beautiful views of the lake. The park is sloped towards the lake so most sites have the lake view. We only stayed there for one night as we traveled South but we will be back for a longer visit. Staff was courteous and very helpful with suggestions on dining. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Topsail Hill State Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Probably the best State Park in Florida. Massive park with miles of trails for hiking/biking. One mile from the beautiful beaches, either walk or bike or take the tram that runs every hour or so. 3+ plus miles of private beach to enjoy. Most days few if any people using the beach, this was winter but still amazing in this day and age. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Fifth Wheel.

Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Two loops, one for the larger rigs more open less trees full hook ups. The other has smaller sites but total privacy between sites, the down side is no sewer nor cable TV nor ability to connect to satellite TV. This is a wonderful park with the ability to drive to the beach so you can carry chairs or fishing equipment to the beautiful white sand beaches. The roads to the campground are great. The roads leading to the beach are full of potholes and in need of repair. Lots of restaurants in the area, most are over priced! We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, centrally located. Close to Ellsworth for shopping needs and a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Front of park is heavily treed and suitable for shorter rigs that appear to be seasonal. Back of park can accommodate any size rig. We had the longest pull-through I have ever seen! Plenty of space between sites, nice laundry with plenty of machines. Management is helpful but not overbearing. Plan on bringing bug repellent. Mosquitoes were not terrible but made their presence known! We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Cabin.

Tips for other Campers:

Acadia NP on Mount Desert Island is a must see but plan a day trip to the section of park on Schoodic Peninsula. Stunning close up views of the shoreline.

Angola / Hogback Lake KOA, Angola, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, well run campground. Very large park with large lake. Seasonal's mostly by the lake and overnighters towards the front of the park. We had a pull through, no shade but a nice site. Good Wi-Fi, no cable and only two OTA channels. Verizon was marginal at best, satellite reception was good. We camped at Angola / Hogback Lake KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Road leading to the park is tight. Roads and pads are gravel but well maintained. Staff were cheerful and friendly. Our site was a pull through but not long enough to stay hooked up. Sites were small with a little grass between. Our site was fairly level but some we saw required major blocking to setup. No cable tv but several OTA channels. The most disappointing was the Wi-Fi! Even early in the morning it would not work. Cellular reception on Verizon was good. Overall this is OK for an overnight but I would not plan a longer stay in the future. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
