Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed in Santa Fe area several times and found the same thing at all the RV parks we have stayed at. They are older, usually tight spaces. and mostly have deferred maintenance issues. Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground is the lowest rating I have given a campground in a long time. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the park is old, has deferred maintenance issues, roads are dirt, rough, uneven, narrow, or worse. Some campsites are level, or have a level spot, some are not. Appears that there are some seasonal residents, but in all those sites looked reasonably kept up. Water pressure was low but use able, power is fine, wifi ok for emails etc. You are about 15 minutes to Santa fe here, 20 to 25 minutes to down town area. Only grocery store close- 3 miles away is high priced, poorly stocked (but has a great liquor section) if you are thirsty. Even though we are 70 miles away from balloon festival this park charges higher rates during the weeks surrounding that event, be ware!!!! You can easily spend 2 weeks exploring Santa Fe, or a whole summer, but finding a great place to stay in Santa Fe area is tough. We camped at Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

So much to see and do in Santa Fe. Museums, Canyon Road Art Galleries, City Square, Farmers markets, Tours, Food. Seems like everyone here is very social, lots of retired seniors. Typical liberal town with high prices on gas, groceries, restaurants, parking, etc. but still a great fun place to visit. NOTE, parking is tough to find in town and expensive. One city parking lot was charging $32.00 for parking!!!

Blowing Springs Campground, Bella Vista, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great quiet place to stay when in the Bentonville area. The sights are close together but plenty of room for large units and their tow vehicles. I stayed with a 34 foot motorhome, 32 foot boat, and a Jeep with room for all on my site. Staff is efficient, place is clean and quiet. Some spots may have trouble with Satellite reception, I asked about this ahead of my visit and had a site with no problem. We camped at Blowing Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Nashville Shores, Hermitage, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

While this park is set up to service the Water park (it is associated with), it is actually a great place to stay in the Nashville area. Price is kind of high for the facilities (age/ condition) but reasonable based on other area prices. Power was strong even though everyone was using their A/C. Water pressure was acceptable. Pads are old concrete and narrow but grass between sites is a nice touch. Lots of families, kids, bikes, water toys, etc. Some sites on the water, most are not. Some more shady, most ore not. Ask for what you want and see what they can do for you. Staff is friendly and helpful. We camped at Nashville Shores in a Motorhome.

Anderson Road Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Ugh, Camp hosts were hostile. Sites are not as described online with many being much shorter than specified and grossly out of level. So out of level that a RV may not be able to get level on many sites. Roads and site driveways are extremely narrow with branches scraping the side of your unit everywhere you go. Bottom line, If you have a nice RV, don't go here.... We camped at Anderson Road Campground in a Motorhome.

Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina, Salvisa, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

WOW, this place is way out in the country and you drive about the last 5 miles on a very narrow road with lots of overhanging trees to scrape and scratch your rig. It's quiet, The people are nice, some sights are not that level, some are fine. Set up for mostly Seasonals, but with transient sights also. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Charlestown State Park, Charlestown, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

NOTE, site descriptions on line are not accurate. Many sites are not as long (driveway/ parking area) as described online. Also sites may be described as level yet they are not and may require blocking etc to get your rig level. Not a bad park but you could be surprised when you get there. We were able to change sites once we arrived but if that had not been available we would have lost our fees as the site we booked did not work for us (too short, not level). We camped at Charlestown State Park in a Motorhome.

Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Narrow roads, Very narrow pads that need work. While park is kept clean and neat, no real interaction with staff, no "service". This is a good location if you are staying in the area and we did not see any other parks that looked better so just know this is a place to PARK but not really anything else. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Motorhome.

Flea market is fun but only operates on Tuesday and Wednesday? Cheese, Smoked meats, Amish cooking is readily available and reasonably priced in the town and surrounding areas. Lots of shopping, factory tours of RV manufactures available near by.

Badgerland Campground, Stoughton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Not a KOA, but this is the kind of place that wants to act like one. Has lots of kid attractions, pond, trampoline, golf carts, has an open bar on the weekends. Set up for seasonal s, and mom& dad, or Gran ma and Grand pa to bring the young kids camping. We were not impressed, and would probably not return. Also this is not close to anything. I would not say this is a bad place, just not what most seniors who are traveling are looking for. We camped at Badgerland Campground in a Motorhome.

Big Lake Campground, Algoma, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The owner is a great guy and very helpful. The park is large and sites are varied in size and closeness to each other. IF you are in the are to fish this is a good base, Also if just exploring in the area, also only about a half hour to Green Bay. Park is starting to age but is still in decent shape. I would stay there again when in the area. We camped at Big Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
