Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This campground epitomizes the concept of "Southern Hospitality." I stopped here enroute from Michigan to Florida, but a hurricane in Florida forced me to stay for six nights. The campground was swamped with requests from Florida refugees, but the staff cheerfully accommodated all requests, and if they could not provide a site due to overcrowding and prior reservations, they were happy to allow "Dry camping" in an open field to the west of the campsites. In addition, the staff provided two cookouts at no cost to the refugees. Burgers and dogs on Saturday, and pulled pork on Sunday. Unabashedly faithful to Our Lord, the staff offered prayers before the meal for the safety of our loved ones left behind, and arranged for a local preacher to come and conduct Sunday services on with for those who were not sufficiently familiar with the area to locate a church. Ordinarily, I would point out at least some negative factors, but in this case any negatives are irrelevant. I will be staying there again if fate ever finds me back in Lower Alabama. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Motorhome.

Apollo RV Park, Concord, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

While setting up camp, I saw a large, vicious fighting pit bull dog attack a Chihuahua being walked on a leash. Since I have three very gentle dogs, I returned to the office to request another site farther away from the pit bull in the permanent park-model trailer. The owner rudely denied my request, telling me that I should keep my dogs under control. When I pointed out that the little dog that was attacked was under control on a leash, the owner became enraged and told me to stop "Backtalking." He then said, "You can take your happy ass out of here anytime... No refunds." This RV park is NOT safe for people with dogs or children. The owners refuse to take even minimal steps to protect life and property of guests. I had to carry a firearm when walking my dogs. The owners later offered to refund HALF of my rental if I left immediately. I declined that offer, but I will NEVER return here. We camped at Apollo RV Park in a Motorhome.
