Onawa / Blue Lake KOA, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to and from Glacier National Park. The facilities are well-maintained, the park well laid out, and in a great location on a beautiful lake. Across the lake is Lewis and Clark State Park which has a reproduction of a keelboat visible from the shore. There is a nice pool and playground which the kids spent alot of time at. There is a well-equipped camp store and the the staff were very friendly and helpful. The roads and most sites are gravel with some being grass and all are generally level. There are plenty of mature trees and shade. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. We camped at Onawa / Blue Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient to highway. Many mature trees, shady. Has a nice camp store, pedal bikes available, large pool and "warm tub," bounce pad and playground. Our site was gravel and relatively level. The desk staff were not typical for the KOAs we have been to - not very pleasant and made limited eye contact. The pool was clear but full of bugs, both on the surface and on the bottom. The gem mining sluice water was stagnant ant did not appear to have been used in some time. We were there on a Wednesday and it may be that weekend are where they do most of the activities and maintenance. The WiFi was good and the park easy to maneuver through. We would certainly stay again with the hope that we just caught them on a bad day. We camped at Salina KOA in a Motorhome.

Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA, Silt, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night on our way back from Dinosaur NM for one night. It is a new park, conveniently located right off the highway and adjacent to the Colorado River. There is a beautiful clubhouse with games, air hockey, comfy chairs, a nice camp store, clean restroom/showers and friendly staff. Our site was gravel and waterfront, with a nice fire ring and picnic tables. Firewood is available for $6/6 pieces, which was well seasoned and burned nicely. They have a playground and very nice pool. My only complaint was that on arrival, we were told that the pool was closed because grass had blown into it and clogged the pump. We were all pretty disappointed because the kids were looking forward to swimming during the drive there. When I noticed that the water was clearly circulating and there was no debris in the pool, the reason changed to the chemicals were not balanced. That was the only reason I did not give it a 10. We will stay here again if in the area. We camped at Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA in a Motorhome.

Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA , Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on a trip to the EBR-1 and Craters of the Moon NM. The location is very convenient to both. The staff are very friendly, helpful and keep the park very clean. The sites are gravel and level. They had an Ice Cream Social in the evening and had waffles for breakfast in the morning. They have a small "Paper Plate Café" in the store that serves breakfast as well as burgers, chicken fingers, fries, etc that they will deliver to your campsite. The Campground is well maintained, clean and easy to navigate. They have a nice pool, playground and Dog Wash. WiFi was very good, surprisingly! Other stay options include 2 Teepees and several cabins.. They have a nice store and gift shop. The bathrooms were very clean and they clearly take pride in their park. There were a few restaurants nearby, including Pickles, which had an extensive menu and was pretty good. The town has an interesting park with the sail of the submarine USS Hawkbill, as well as a Mark 4 torpedo, 2 memorial stones and an interesting interpretive station. The town also has an interesting history including being the first to have been nuclear powered. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here while attending conference at the Jackson Lake Lodge. The location of the campground is excellent, near Yellowstone as well as the most impressive parts of the Grand Teton NP. The campground itself was wooded, with adequate room between sites. It was convenient to the Visitor Center, the General Store, the Activities Desk, the marina, beach and the 2 restaurants with nice trails to those areas. The sites are not level but are not too bad. The views from the beach are stunning, especially in the morning. The marina has aluminum boats with 9.9 hp outboard motors for rent at a reasonable price, and you can take them around the islands for wildlife watching. The Visitor Center is very nice with a well stocked gift shop, nice movies and helpful rangers. The general store is very nice with just about everything you might need. The adjacent Gift Shop is very big with a great selection of shirts, hats, gear, souvenirs, etc. They have 2 restaurants. One is a Pizza, wings and sandwiches café, and the other is a traditional sit-down restaurant with a nice variety and a good kids menu. The staff were wonderful, the prices high but reasonable for being in a National Park, and the food was great. There is no little to no cell service, and minimal Wi Fi, but they do have public WiFi at the restaurants. The campground staff are very helpful and pleasant. The mosquitos and gnats are thick, especially in the evening, but a good insect repellant keeps them away. Bears do come into the campground, so they have strict rules about not leaving grills or food out. They do not have fire rings or allow campfires in the RV Park. You can use gas or charcoal grills but have to clean them and put them away at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here and highly recommend camping at Colter Bay. We will certainly be back!! Cheyenne KOA, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to the Tetons NP. The location is very convenient and right off Highway 80.There is some road noise but it is worth the convenience. There is a Pilot with RV pumps at the exit as well as another gas station, a hotel and some restaurants. The park is clean and well maintained. The sites are all gravel and relatively level. They have basic cable and full hookups. The sewer and electric/water post are seperated by some distance but not bad. There is no grass at the sites, and no fire rings. They have a nice camp store that is open until 9p with a little of everything, including ice cream. The pool is heated and very clean. They have miniature golf for no charge which was popular with the kids. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. It is pricey but you get what you pay for. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cheyenne KOA in a Motorhome.

Rock Port RiversEdge Campground , Rock Port, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We decided to stay here on our way to Homestead Natl Monument based on the fact they were the only park with a pool and good reviews. When I made the reservation, I was told the owners would be gone but they hoped to have someone here running the store and park. I emailed back to ask if the pool would still be open, but never recieved a reply. We arrived around 5 pm to find no staff, the office locked but our site information in a box. We also discovered the pool was drained and the area around it dug up, apparently to replace the drain and pump piping. The kids were disappointed and it would have been nice to have been told about the pool when I inquired. The sites are gravel, level and very close together. There was not enough room to sit at the picnic table and not be next to the neighbors sewer unless you moved in front or behind the RV. The fire ring was full of cigarette butts and cigar stubs, so we elected not to use it. Firewood was available fo 50 cents a stick. The majority of the sites were taken by long term campers, some with freezers, wood pallets and other things outside the doors. We felt like we were in a low rent trailer park and would have left if there had been other parks nearby. There are 2 gas stations nearby with good RV access, a McDonalds and a Godfathers pizza express. It is very convenient to the highway but still very quiet. They have a small playground with an old swingset, seesaw and carousel. I am sure the owners are very nice but I don't think we would stay here again. We camped at Rock Port RiversEdge Campground in a Motorhome.
