We loved the campground with its beautiful old shade trees, birds, and the sounds of frogs lulling us to sleep at night. Truly loved it. Even though there were quite a few people there, everyone was quiet. The only problem was with the campground policies/facilities, not sure what to call it. 1. Excessive night-time lighting. FOUR stadium-sized light poles with stadium-level bright lights around one picnic area that of course never gets used at night. These lights bothered us all the way over in the campground. In addition to that, many of these tall, excessively bright lights were placed throughout the campground. So be careful where you set up and look for the light poles if you do not want to have to wear a sun visor at night. I'm not kidding; it is that bad at the sites where the poles are. In areas not lit up - the fireflies glittered in the trees - beautiful. 2. Excessive mowing. Up into hills, through large areas in between rows, between all the campsites, all the way to the edges of everything. I would truly hate to be here during mowing week (or mowing month?) It would take a long time to mow all these areas, and anyone camping there would be bothered by the duration. This c/g was closed in May 2016 due to budget constraints. Perhaps if the lights were turned down and mowing cut by half, it would not cost so much to run this campground. Other than these two very odd things, this beautiful place is a real treasure. We camped at Ramsey Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
bike ride around the lake road - a beautiful little trip, quiet, scenic, and relaxing.
