Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, Winchester Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

The spaces are in the forest so it was a cool respite from the heat of the summer. Kids rode bikes and had a great time. We stayed in a tent site so the fee was less. $29 for electric/water sites $19 for tents. We camped at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in a Motorhome.

Boice Cope County Park, Langlois, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A sweet find at the end of a very long day driving. Large grassy area with rigs at the outer edges. Floras Lake is between the park and the ocean. Clean restrooms and coin operated showers. Lots have sunny, open exposures. Site surface is a concrete pad with gravel and grass, featuring a fire ring and picnic table. Dump station is free to campers. Lovely park, will definitely return. We camped at Boice Cope County Park in a Motorhome.

Several miles off Hwy 101 so basically its the park and the walk to the lake and ocean. But a lovely spot with a great orange sunset!

Monterey Fairgrounds, Monterey, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Helpful friendly host. Entire blacktop parking area was sloped. Very difficult to get 'acceptably' level. Host offered extra ramps to help level. Bathroom was fine, just lots of flies. Bus stop was near and easy to get to the Aquarium. We camped at Monterey Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If going to the Aquarium walk the half block to the bus stop on North Fremont in front of the Caruso's Corner. Jazz B, best one to take, delivers you block or so from the front door.

Walnut RV Park, Northridge, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely city space. Large gravel spots, great clean pool, bathroom could use some updating but was fine. Laundry reasonable priced. Really nice staff. Recreation room with pool table and foosball, library, community kitchen. It is a busy RV park, if you are close to the entrance you will hear car noise, but not obtrusive. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, Santa Barbara, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Park has large paved spots, patio area, fire pit, and picnic table. Coin operated showers. Although the pool had outside showers to rinse off the chlorine, to use as part of your pool fee. The pool at the park is like a community pool. $3. per person per session of 2 1/2 hours. Lots of lounge chairs under a tarp for shade. Nothing on the County Park website said fee for swimming so it was disappointing to have tired, hot kids find out they had to pay to cool off. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Nature Center and on Saturdays in July and August they have a bat talk at dusk and we got to see the bats emerge from their bat box.

San Diego RV Resort, La Mesa, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $89.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent staff, helpful, courteous, professional. Clean pool. Gravel or concrete parking pad, almost level. The parking spots are 'bare bones' and are very tightly fitted in giving not much privacy, surprisingly not too noisy either, considering the light rail track is on one side and a highway is on the other. BUT they are close to a trolley station to get you into town, or to the zoo specifically. We camped at San Diego RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you need a quick market there is one just past the trolley stop. Going out the gate at the far west end towards the trolley/train stop there is a 7-11 and Shell gas station about one block away.

Fort Stevens State Park, Hammond, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

May and June we camped here. Mosquitoes were quite abundant! Shower never got hot water for me, but my husband got there early and had a good shower. Lovely campground, lots and lots of bike trails. It is NOT a short stroll to the beach from the camping loops but a sturdy walk which is certainly doable, for most. We were in Loop F both times. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.
