We were curious about this new place because it just opened a month ago! Pros: beautiful facility! Nice pool, splash pad, community fire pit, big playground, tennis court. Steady electric. Good water pressure. Level sites! Gated facility. Close to the highway, restaurants, and fuel. Cons: unfriendly front desk lady, water spiget too close to ground for water filter attachment (need elbow joint), tons of pine straw used at sites (harbor bugs and messy)! Sites are narrow (but big rig long). Had to sign and initial 2 pages of waivers at check in- this was very lengthy and uncomfortable. Felt like checking into a medical appointment! Overall, I'd like to see what it looks like in a year. Perhaps the pine straw is temporary?? Maybe the front desk lady will adopt a smile and a friendly attitude?? I can tell that the owner is taking great pride in this campground and has an awesome vision for when it is all completed! We camped at CreekFire Motor Ranch in a Travel Trailer.
Bring an elbow joint for water filter

Mendota Hills Campground, Amboy, Illinois
Date of Stay:
June, 2017 -
$40.00
Overall Rating:
This is a very nicely manicured campground. You can tell the owners take great care and keeping up its appearance. It's down a nicely manicured dirt road in the middle of cornfields. Most of the campers are seasonal, but nightly camping is in a more private area with a beautiful view of the lake. Beautiful private beach with water toys/slides. Nice playground. 30/50 amp site we were in did not have sewage. Bathhouse facilities are too far the short term camping to be convenient. Several outhouses available. Overall a great place but steep price for no sewage nor bath houses available near by. We camped at Mendota Hills Campground in a Travel Trailer.
It's about 15 miles from Highway 39.
