Prairie Pines Campground, Rantoul, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Prairie Pines has about 75 sites, many are pull-thru which are very spacious. We camped in a 45' coach and had plenty of room to pull in and extend 4 slides. The campground is managed by the city of Rantoul, IL, and has an on-site manager. The manager was helpful and efficient, plus provides personal escort to your site and insures all is good. The bathhouse/laundry facility is large and very clean. The large sites have a patio, fire ring, good wi-if, no cable. All sites are full hook-up. All sites provide good 50 amp service. The campground is conveniently located off I-57, close to town (Walmart for stocking up), and only about 15 minutes north of Champaign, IL (home to University of Illinois.) Prairie Pines is a well-managed campground whether for an overnight stay or longer. We will definitely return when visiting family in the area. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunrise Resorts-Pier Four, Moses Lake, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Sunrise Pier 4 in a 45' motor home. Sites are very close together, pull thrus are short in length causing campers to park vehicles in lanes fronting campers. Easy access off I-90, which also means you'll hear the road traffic. Many campers living in park full time, busy on the weekend since campground is directly on Moses Lake. Bath house showers have mold, laundry adequate. Pool small for size of park. The park overall is run down and needs attention; many electrical problems, sprinklers leaking, asphalt buckling, etc. Our original site assigned did not reveal adequate 50 amp service. Informed office, they sent over park electrician with a different amp meter, he checked amperage and stated "you should be OK". Did not offer to relocate us; ended up losing two a/c units and hot water due to low amperage. Informed office staff of situation, no resolution, we had to request a different site. (Management did not address electrical issue on problem site, and placed a large 5th wheel on it immediately after we left.) Ended up having to extend stay awaiting motor home repair; luckily we only lost a transfer switch which burnt out due to low amperage based on our mechanic. Prior to departing noticed we were overbilled on credit card by park staff. Again, no resolution, called us ''rude" when it was clearly their mistake. Only after contacting Sunrise RV Parks corporate offices was the situation resolved and credit card overcharging refunded. As a full time RV'er, have camped all over the country; this was by far the worst campground we have ever stayed at and will not return. We camped at Sunrise Resorts-Pier Four in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Moses Lake is a quaint, friendly town with a nice sized lake surrounding it. Good restaurants/choices, a few microbreweries, and shopping (Walmart, Home Depot etc.)
