Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

First, the management staff here is great. They are very welcoming and are very friendly from when you first arrival and throughout the stay. Second, security is great as well, but beware the park speed limit is strictly enforced, 10 mph. The camp layout is quite big with plenty of space between the sites. You are not going to feel cramped up. There are quite a few long-terms inside of the park, and they have all of the nice spots already reserved, which means that the remaining sites don't have as much shade. Wi-Fi is okay, not great, but good enough to check your e-mails. The main office has a nice dance hall in it, along with a very large kitchen and they usually have potluck's and other activities on a weekly basis. I didn't have any issue with utilities, other than the cost for electrical raising up during the summer months, you pay for your own site electricity as you stay. There are 3 fishing ponds/lakes on site along with a nice dog park, and a great hiking trail. I see the local wildlife every morning and sometimes in the evening on a daily basis. Overall a great little park and I would definitely return! We camped at Wilderness Lakes RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is great fishing right across the road from the campground, constant moving river right behind the Lake Corpus Christi Dam. Excellent bass and catfish, though the walk down to the river can be a little steep in areas, but definitely worth the walk if you are into fishing!
