River Run Campground, Branford, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

OK, let me first state that this campground is very pretty. It's large, well shaded and close to the Florida Springs. Those are it's best attributes. After that it's all down hill. First off, this is a Passport America campground, but you don't receive the 50% discount, which should be $17.50. Secondly, there are no refunds. Once you pay, you better stay or lose your cash. And, it's cash only. Are you a smoker, great, cause you're gonna love this place. It reeks of cigarette smoke, in the office, on the grounds, in the bathroom/showers and the laundry. The bathrooms were cleaned, but whoever cleaned them, smoked in them! The laundry facilities were old and nasty. The sites are not level and many were covered with broken glass. There are quite a few permanent residents. Usually, that's not a big deal, however, too many of these folks didn't care about their sites. Their sites had garbage, junk and their campers, which we found out later were FEMA trailers, were literally falling apart. Most of the people were workers, not travelers. So OK, you are probably thinking, hey what a bigot. No, I've been poor, I am part of the working class. I don't and never have lived like that. The people there weren't even friendly towards us. We have been traveling since 2011. We've stayed at numerous campsites, nice ones and crappy ones, I've never had any problems with other campers, permanent or transient. Here, for the first time, I got into a verbal disagreement with our "neighbor". I was sitting outside trying to relax and this woman came over all hot and pissed off that we were on "her lot". The front end of our RV was slightly over the line. She was very aggressive and I realized that I better stay calm. When I told her that we were leaving in two days, she backed off. I gather she thought we were going to be permanent. The owner doesn't seem to care. He's just collecting money. Obviously we will never return here. I highly recommend you avoid this place. We camped at River Run Campground in a Motorhome.
