Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA, Whitefish, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

We did not have a good experience at this KOA. We wouldn't recommend it and we wouldn't stay here again. Started at check-in. We always ask for full hookup 50 amp pull-through sites. When we got to the campground, they told us we were in a 30 amp site and they were unable to change us. So 30 amp it was. Our site was gravel, pull-through, not completely level, but reasonable. We had a fire pit with no grate (they brought us one). We had a picnic table that was in bad shape and was pushed part way into weeds to give more walking room at site. Site had some trash on it. The water hook-up was on one side of motorhome, electric and sewer were on other side. The electric box didn't have a breaker switch - our power went out once. An electrician came because we couldn't find any breaker switch. He found our site's switch at a site two sites away! Our site was fairly overgrown with weeds that no one had cut back in a long time. We were at this campground for a week and we never once saw anyone working to tidy up sites. Later in the week, we noticed that there were large rocks about a foot under all the weeds, so at one time it was probably a nicer site. Some of the back-in sites looked nicer than ours but we were told they were full and we couldn't change. Internet and cell phone service were terrible. The campground was in a valley - we had to drive our car to the top and sit in the car to make phone calls. To add insult to injury, we were charged $72.00 per night!! Based on other campgrounds we've used, this campground should be priced between $35.00 and $45.00 per night. Positive comments are - we can say that except for two individuals, staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. They serve a hot breakfast every day as part of your nightly fee. The breakfast was not great, but decent. Many activities for children. In our opinion, this is a tired old campground that needs major financial investment to improve it and rates should be adjusted until then. We camped at Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA in a Motorhome.
