Canyon Hot Springs Resort, Revelstoke, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $109.00
Overall Rating:

Upon arrival, we entered the cabin to find a very strong urine smell throughout. These are very small cabins (a couple of bunk beds, a sink and a closet where a toilet is inside) so there is no escaping the strong smell. When we asked at the front desk about the smell, we were advised that its natural cedar. However, we have stayed in cedar built homes before and they did not smell like this. It was very overpowering. You have to bring your own bedding and towels, but we discovered you also have to bring your own soap for use after the toilet. They did not tell us this and their gift shop did not sell disinfectant soap. They tried to sell us body wash instead. There are no showers inside the cabin and we were told to use the public showers attached to the hot springs. These showers are very dirty inside and well used. It should be noted that the hot springs were disappointing too. They smelt like chemicals / chlorine and were very small. The restaurant on site serves limited food; we ordered the pizza for $20 to discover it was a frozen grocery store-bought oven pizza. The cabins are dirty, with bugs inside and cob webs. To be frank, we could have gotten past all this and chalked it up to a rustic experience, until we returned to the cabin to find mouse/rat poop on the bed and mice running around. That was it for us! We packed up our stuff and headed back to the main office to alert management to the situation. The most disappointing part of our experience was the complete lack of customer services. The owner was not the least bit surprised at our complaints, nor did she same to care whatsoever. She offered no alternative and when we asked for a refund she flat out refused. The owner was not even willing to credit us back a portion of the charges. We camped at Canyon Hot Springs Resort in a Cabin.
