July, 2017 -
We were put into a standard space too small for our Fifth wheel. Since 2 spaces around us were empty when we move in, we barely could back the trailer in. Since the road is only 12' wide with absolutely no extra shoulder room, we had to drive over the empty spaces to back in. Then those spaces were filled and we were trapped. We waited till a bumper-pull trailer next to us moved out first, (they had to hook up with at a 60 degree angle and drive out the same way they came in against the one-way traffic flow of the park, because they were blocked from exiting in the proper direction.) We had to hook up nearly straight because of our slider hitch, so we had very little room to maneuver, and when we did leave, we drove over the space the other trailer had occupied. We left 3 days early, so as not to be trapped in our space. If the park owners rented the space next to us for a large trailer or motorhome, we would have been trapped. That is what they did to the renter next to our trailer space. There are many speed bumps and a locked gate. The showers, which marked for handicap use, are totally unsafe and inaccessible for most handicap people to use The pool is also not accessible for the handicapped. All visitors must pay $5.00/day even if all they do is drive in to drop you off. We camped at Oak Grove Campground / Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
Lake Michigan beach is over 1.5 miles. Go early in the AM & take your lunch. If anyone visits, they must pay $5/day. The only good RV spaces are the extended ones. We found that the office staff and owners were indifferent, unyielding, and very strict about inforcing all rules without regard to difficulties. Contact the camp hosts instead because they were helpful.
