Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

It has been a long time since I have rated a campground. This one is a split personality. First, the pros. The utilities are excellent. They are new and reliable. The restrooms / showers are amazing. Clean, large and well appointed. Space between sites is larger than many rv parks. The rec hall is nice, large, and clean, with a great kitchen. Now, the cons. For being recently renovated, the unleveled sites were a surprise. Several units had to add additional steps to access their rigs. The picnic tables and fire rings were set in the weeds between the sites. The vegetation was overgrown and unsightly. Several of the long term residents were seen cutting down the weeds on their own sites. The nature trail was over grown with weeds and was littered with dog droppings. The nature pond and catch and release pond were both full of algea and weeds. The access to the river was difficult, heavily edged with willows. Just a heads up for campers on a few things. The trees noted on the site map are almost all new and young. They offer no shade. We stayed a full week, and received a "reduced" rate. The rate plus the electricity we were charged was truly no different than a daily rate with a Good Sam discount. Also, although the campground had a nice playground, there were few children in the campground. Many of the sites are filled with long term seniors and long term area workers. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
