South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails), Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We are full timers in a 47' 5th wheel, toy hauler with a HARLEY, not pets, no kids. We look for Big Rig friendly RV parks, 50 amp pull thrus with FHU's, satellite friendly. We spend a lot of time sight seeing, and do not use many of the amenities on site. We found this park to be perfect for the smaller week-ender rigs. Interior roads are tight corners, mostly dirt. Sites are all dirt, back in, and none have sewer, but there are two dump stations. We tried 3 Sites before we found one to fit our rig, #188, that we could get into easily. Park is not Big Rig friendly. Very heavily forested. Cell Phone Coverage is good. We arrived after dark and had to spend first night in parking lot because park has no interior lighting. We unloaded motorcycle before we backed and there was room for bike and truck in site. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Livingston / Paradise Valley KOA, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

A small, quiet, woodsy RV park. Sites are easily accessible and staff is friendly. We only stayed here three nights, on our way from Cody to Missoula, Montana. We would have liked to stay longer. We had already visited Yellowstone Park so we did not use the Gardiner entrance. We enjoyed the rides to Bozeman on our Harley Davidson. There is an easy access to the river within the park for boating, fishing, and rafting. We camped at Livingston / Paradise Valley KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Restway Travel Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $88.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older RV park, no frills, but very accommodating. Do not expect modern work out equipment, cell phone compatible laundry machines, or gate code entry. But the shuttle driver is friendly, and the office staff will give you lots of info on things to do. RV spaces are easy to access and internal roads were easy to navigate with my 47 foot toy hauler. Speed limits in the park are strictly maintained; violators will be fined and then asked to leave if necessary. We stayed here during Pioneer Days and were lucky to get in on late notice because they put us on a wait list and gave us a space from a canceled reservation. We camped at Restway Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This RV park is on the outside of town, which we liked because downtown gets busy and noisy. The swiming pool is nice and relaxing, but can get crowded on a hot day. Close to ATV rentals, zip line tours, and National Parks. Do not miss dinner at the Sunset grill.

Cal Expo RV Park, Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is ourt 3rd staying here and my first rview. We are full timers and always stay the 30 day limit at this park, $750/month, works out to be $25 per night. Not a bad deal for what you get, which is a full hook up space, pull through, gravel lot, no shade, and satillite friendly. No pool, no rec room, no trash pick up, no on-site store, no activities for kids. For being close to one of the largest homeless camp areas in Sacramento, the State police keep pretty good track of suspecious activity. Since this is State property and part of the Fair grounds, there are several black out dates. Staff is efficient and friendly, grounds are clean and well lit at night. There is lots of dust. Would be good if camp hosts watered down the gravel during the summer. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed in this RV park for 25 nights over a 3 year period on three visits. Very spacious sites, easy to navigate roads, and clean surroundings. Plenty of places to eat in nearby restaurants. Lots of options for motorcycle rides on our Harley. Staff is friendly and helpful. Park is easily accessible from local highways. We will stay here again. Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails, Acton, California

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The property has become some what run down over the years. Lots of potholes in roads, trees need trimmed, fallen branches, recreation areas full of weeds, and sites are not level with lots of dirt, mud and sand. The adult center was sometimes filled with unsupervised minors. We paid for a one week Wi-Fi subscription but the RV park equipment was often shut down, and signal was weak. We stayed in B section which was satellite friendly, but no local antenna, and cell phone coverage is weak and spotty. The park is conveniently close to Metrolink train, Mountain High ski resorts, and shopping in Acton. The freight and commuter trains close by make quite a bit of noise, 24/7, but tolerable. We had a 50 AMP pull through site with room for my truck and Harley. We camped at Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Westlake RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a month which allowed us to pay a monthly rate instead of a daily rate which is why the nightly rate came out to be on $27. This is a very clean and will organized facility. A private lake and close to grocery stores and resturants. We will stay here again. We camped at Westlake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Tawakoni / Thousand Trails, Point, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

If you are a fisherman and looking for a woodsy place with lots of space and room between sites, this is it. All spaces are 30 AMP back-in. Some have sewer hook up, some do not. There's no convenience store. Lakeside sites are all taken by long term residents. There's an onsite church and the gaurd station at the gate sells ice. The clubhouse has breakfasts and taco nights. The closest town for shopping is Quinlan, 20 minutes away. We camped at Lake Tawakoni / Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Memphis KOA , Marion, Arkansas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were disappointed at the Memphis KOA park. This park needs maintenance. Many potholes in roads. Unsightly debris needs to be hauled away. Piles of chopped down trees need to be cut and split. The park was only 10% occupied and we couldn't understand why we didn't see workers doing maintenance like we do in other parks.

Many concrete pads in sites are broken, uneven, and chipped. After a heavy rain, we had to move from a gravel 70 foot site to a concrete 60 foot site because the gravel site had depressed areas full of water, there was basically a lake around our rig.

The washers and dryers in laundry room were old and outdated. Freeway noise was obvious but tolerable. The main positive feature this park has is it's close location to downtown Memphis (a 25 minute drive). This is why I gave a 3-star rating instead of a 2-star rating. We stayed for five days in our fully self contained 5th wheel but spent the days sight-seeing, so we were not so much interested in park amenities (pool, mini golf, rec room). Our KOA value card discount made the rate a bit more acceptable, otherwise I'd say the normal rate is overpriced for what you get. We camped at Memphis KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

High Falls RV Park, Jackson, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very small, privately owned RV Park/trailer park. The owners are a husband and wife team and are very friendly and helpful. No deposit needed when making reservation, and fees are check or cash, no debit card. The grounds are woodsy, no grass or pavement but quiet and peaceful. There are mostly long term residents. The daily and weekly sites are close to front entrance, so no need to navigate through park. No cable TV but sites are satellite friendly. The Buck Creek market nearby is a good place for groceries. We would stay here again. We camped at High Falls RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
