Samuel P. Taylor State Park, Lagunitas, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the newer studio cabins in the group camp area of the park. The group area is located on a hill across the street from the park entrance. Pass the park entrance, then a few yards on the right there is sign for the group camp area. Turn right up a narrow single lane to a paved parking lot and find the RV camper host. There is a separate camp host and check in procedures for the 5 wooden cabins and group camp area. Two cabins are for the disabled and three cabins are reservable for the general population online. The bathrooms on site are newer, cleaner and roomer. There are 4 shower rooms, 4 bathrooms, and a sink for dishes. There are two parking lots on site a paved one for campers and a gravel one for the cabin population. The cabins sleep 5 people, have lights, overhead fans, and electric heaters. Outdoors there are individual picnic tables, fire pits and water fountains. Like the rest of the park there is a bit of traffic noise during the day. At night the noise is almost unnoticeable inside the cabins. Due the high popularity of the park cabins the insides are starting to show wear and tear. The floors need a good wash and the mattresses need to be replaced. It might be best to wipe everything down with some antibacterial wipes. A bit of caution if traveling with young kids there is no railing or fencing around the cabins to protect them from the steep drop off or the traffic below. We camped at Samuel P. Taylor State Park in a Cabin.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the Point Reyes visitor center for roomy parking, picnic areas and public bathrooms. The grocery store in town has wonderful fresh fish. Check out the cow girl creamery for fresh cheeses avoid their tasting counter due to the huge crowds. Buy your firewood elsewhere it's $10 a bundle here.
