Red Bay Acres RV Resort, Red Bay, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new RV park adjacent to the Girard awning factory in Red Bay. Thus, it is really the only place to stay in town if you’re having service done on your awnings.

They build themselves as a “resort“ however the amenities are somewhat lacking; they have a very nice dog park, a pickle ball court, a pond that is stocked with fish, and a very nice looking restaurant that will not open until the first part of November 2019.

When complete, this will probably be the nicest RV park in Red Bay. However, in our opinion they are way overpriced for the amenities offered and location.

Cell service is very poor - both Verizon and AT&T - so if you rely on these carriers for your cell and Internet service be prepared to be very disappointed. The best throughput we could achieve was 1.1 MBs with a top-of-the-line cell & WiFi boosters.

The park offers weekly and monthly rates and has six “deluxe premium“ sites for $10 more per night. The only amenities these sites provide is a small patio and fire ring.

A 5% discount is given to FMCA and Tiffin motorhome owners club members. We camped at Red Bay Acres RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are some very quirky and interesting attractions in the area. Of course you can tour the Tiffin motorhome plant Weekdays at 9:30. Ivy green, the home of Helen Keller, is about 30 minutes away, and the coon dog cemetery is about 5 miles away.

Paradise Farm Trailer Park, Bonavista, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Great park - 50 amp service for most of the sites.
The only thing that would make this an all-around five-star park was if they had sewers at some of the sites at least
Sean, the owner is more than helpful and is always around if you need him for something. We will definitely stay here again! We camped at Paradise Farm Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Triple Falls RV Park, St Anthony, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

The only good thing about this RV park is its proximity to St. Anthony. If I were you, I’d go to Viking RV Park close to L’anse aux Meadows- makes for a long drive to St Anthony for services but the park is MUCH nicer.

The interior and access roads are full of potholes, sites poorly leveled (only with blocks were we able to auto level- and then our front wheel was slightly off the ground.)

Poorly designed utility pedestal- make sure you have extra water & power hoses and lines. We had to hookup across our coach.

No Sewer and it seems that 75% of the folks just dump their gray water on the ground. ?

The WiFi is useless, there is ZERO Cell service ( Verizon Roaming on All Canadian cell networks or Google Fi) and this includes using the WeBoost 4GX RV cell signal booster. You MUST drive the 5 miles to St. Anthony to use cell or get any reliable Internet/WiFi. We camped at Triple Falls RV Park in a Motorhome.

Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Short of staying in the Halifax city RV park in downtown Halifax (narrow roads and cramped conditions) this is the closest RV park to Halifax. Great location, easy to jump on 102 to downtown Halifax.
The park is surprisingly quiet, and the sites are somewhat spacious. We have what we think is the best site in the park: number 8. It’s a back in site but we only have neighbors on one side, and a nice grassy area screened by shrubs on the driver side of our coach.
There was plenty of room to park at 45 foot motorhome, extend all the slides and all the window awnings with no problem. There is even an adjacent gravel pad to park your Toad.
We would camp here again when visiting the area! We camped at Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax in a Motorhome.

Fishermans Cove RV & Campground, Brooklyn, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This part is OK for one or two overnight, especially if you are visiting Liverpool on the south shore of Nova Scotia.

Really unimpressive campground. Looks like it mostly caters to seasonal or long-term campers.

Based on our experience at other Nova Scotia campgrounds the $50 a night CDN (tax included) was rather outrageous for this campground. We camped at Fishermans Cove RV & Campground in a Motorhome.

Camp Meade RV Park (Military FamCamp), Fort Meade Army Post, Maryland

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park on Ft Mede for Military/DOD personnel. Price is consistent with other Military FAMCAMPS in the DC Area. Current construction around the post makes for challenging entry. As of May 1 2019, Llewylen Avenue is closed to inbound traffic, so the best (only!) way in is on Reece Road (Main Gate) Make your best way to MD-295 and take Exit 16 to Annapolis Road (MD-175) [i.e. follow the signs to Ft. Meade) Continue down Annapolis through some very heavy construction (but doable in a 45' Motorhome towing a Jeep Cherokee) and get in the LEFT Turn Lane at Reece Road. Either of the lanes at the Main Gate can accommodate a Big Rig RV. Continue down Reece to Cooper AVE and turn LEFT. Go to Llewylen AVE and turn LEFT and continue to Wilson St and turn RIGHT. The Outdoor Rec will be on your left @ 1/4 mile down Wilson. Pull in (4 Big Rig RV Lanes are available) and register. RV Park is directly ahead from the RV Parking Lanes. We camped at Camp Meade RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you drive past the softball fields on the left and MEDAC Unit on the Right, you have missed the turn in to the RV Park on Wilson. Llewylen Avenue will go through housing and look very *very* narrow but all is well and you can make it - trees are trimmed to 14' so clearance is OK.

Amana RV Park & Event Center , Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Even though it was early in the season, the park was open, immaculate, and the staff was fantastic! HIGHLY Recommend this RV Park!

Sites are very nice - gravel - but be aware that this RV park is really tooled toward Rallies (so think fairground RV park) Still, it is very close to the Amana colonies and we would stay again We camped at Amana RV Park & Event Center in a Motorhome.

Blue Ox RV Park (Blue Ox customers only), Pender, Nebraska

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

If you own a Blue Ox Product your stay here is FREE. I highly recommend this camp even if you are not a Blue Ox owner - take a tour of the plant and you may become an owner - it is a great product!

The park is well laid out - the first 5 sites have concrete pads; the rest are gravel. Well maintained and the interior roads are wide and easy to negotiate.

Remember though, this is an RV park primarily set up for Blue Ox owners (and maybe Blue Ox Owner rallies) Still if you need a place to stay overnight (or 2-3 nights while you explore the area), we highly recommend this RV park We camped at Blue Ox RV Park (Blue Ox customers only) in a Motorhome.

Pender and nearby West Point have some great restaurants (try the Hole in the Wall in West Point!) If you Geocache, Pender has a very special Honor Cache and the town is home to Maj Dale Buis, the first American KIA in the Vietnam War; the town has a very nice Veterans Memorial.

Scenic Park Campground, South Sioux City, Nebraska

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Can't rate the cleanliness because the restrooms were closed. It was a very cold day when we arrived - snow on the ground - which was very atypical for mid-April. I bet this park is fabulous in the summer and we really have no complaints about our site - we were given a back in right on the banks of the Missouri River. Out biggest complaint was the indifferent reception we received by the couple running the camp check-in. In fact we got a more friendly reception by the 2 residents that were in the camp office! This was completely different than when my wife called Katie, the hostess, 4 days before we arrived. Katie treated my wife very well and even called back 2 times to clarify reservations. So, we are not sure who was running the office when we checked in on 8 APR 2018, but Katie may want to have a chat with them :)

If you can reserve them, sites 3, 4 & 5 are probably the best sites in the park! Water is winterized and heated so if you have a heated hose, you should be good to go even if temperatures get into the teens. We camped at Scenic Park Campground in a Motorhome.
