OK RV Park, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We try to stay at family run parks and this park is owned and managed by a husband and wife. They purchased it a few years ago and you can see the upgrades, especially based upon some prior reviews. You can see that as the trees grow they will provide more and more shade. Water is great, easy to adjust to 40 lbs pressure. It is a desert campground and it is surrounded by desert so when high winds come up, expect some dust. We stayed for 4 nights. The park was an ease to enter and the spaces are staggered so even though you are close, you are not next to your neighbor. Internet and cable worked great (though with our TV/Cable system we had to scan the channels first, not campground's issue. I have never seen a park with such a good sewer set-up. There are sewer connections about every 10 feet along the driveway so you are assured that even with a 10' hose you will connect. The park is huge so there is very little big rig/small rig jockeying for driveways. They have a small store with essentials and they serve coffee and muffins every morning. We will stay here again when we come through in early fall. Grateful that there are parks such as these. Great place to stay when visiting Petrified Forest National Park and Winslow Arizona (Eagle Song). If you are an Eagles fan you have to visit Winslow. They have a corner dedicated to the song and it is just plain fun to see the joy and humor the town has set up for travelers. For Weather, use Weather.com, hourly. We found that weather for Holbrook was more accurate for the area; I used the zip code when searching. We camped at OK RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The service at this park is great, as are the sites. There is gravel throughout the park so the surface is easy to navigate. The site we were on was level, no adjustments needed. The utilities were great and the bathrooms and showers were among the best we've seen. Each shower area has a toilet and lots of room. They are all tiled so it is the same quality as new homes. Almost all of the parks in Moab are located "on the hi-way" so noise is an issue. We just played the radio while we were inside. We had a good experience and would stay here again as it is located outside of town (just a few miles). We camped at Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Would recommend Dead Horse Point State Park, second to Arch's National Park as the second best place to visit. It has views of Canyonlands National Park and is much easier to navigate. Moab is a big town so there is anything you need in town. We had to get a window chip fixed so we went to Rick's Glass. Their service and pricing was great!

Sundance RV Park, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

A small and very well maintained park. The roads are wide and the campsites are easy to get in and out. There is gravel throughout the park (on the sites) and the main road is asphalt. The showers, bathrooms and laundry room are very clean. The utilities are in great shape at each site. There is a "dog area" if you need and they have recycling containers at the front of the park. They are redoing the Internet but went out of their way to help me get a connection when I was having trouble. The service from entry to exit is great. We would stay there again. We camped at Sundance RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great central location for Mesa Verde and Canyons of the Ancients. The town is large enough that you can get anything you need, yet small enough to get in and out within a few minutes. There are some great drives around. We suggest you check in with the "Welcome Center" that is located across the street from the park.

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stay at Shady Lane the first and last night of every trip to "Northern Utah and below. The family run park is always in great shape. We arrived right after rain and the park was already dry, no mud, nothing that we couldn't wipe off our feet. The sites are well maintained and there is plenty of room for very large rigs. The utilities are kept up and the bathrooms are always clean. It is one of the best parks around for a one or two night stay while on longer trips. If you want any information, just ask one of the family at the front desk, they know all the good places to eat, etc. We stay in this park every trip we take "to the south." We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Wonderland RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 4 nights. For a small park the services are great. Everything is clean, Wi-Fi is strong and we were able to fill propane on site. Our site was level and utilities are placed right in the middle of each site. The owner took time out of his day to help me fix a bent trailer part. Small store with emergency supplies. Located next to 24 but even with the weekend traffic it is barely noticeable. Great play are for kids, dog area for dogs. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain View RV Park, Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place to stay. The owners are friendly, the other campers were very friendly, sites easy to enter and exit and facilities are clean. I asked the owner about the closed bathroom. Seems as if one of the 5 previous campers decided to spread feces on the walls of the men's bathrooms, twice. While I don't discount the previous review as it is inconvenient for restrooms to be closed, what is the owner supposed to do. Would you have complained if you walked in and there were feces spread all over the wall? The way the codes work on the bathrooms he would have to walk over to the bathroom each time to let someone in. Tough situation! We need to support these independent parks when they provide good places for us to stay. Propane price is very reasonable for a campground and there is a restaurant on site which other campers told me was excellent. We stayed overnight in a travel trailer and will stay here again. The owner gave us some great information on some local places to visit. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed on a stop over. Easy to enter and exit, sites are level, utilities are kept up. Park is clean, staff is very helpful. Nice play area for the kids. Dog friendly. You can use some facilities at the near-by Hilton. Can't ask for more for a stop over site and would not have a problem if we wanted to stay for a few days. Sites all seem almost level. Some noise from local train tracks but didn't hear any noise at night. We stayed in a travel trailer. We camped at Iron Horse RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Campground by the Lake, South Lake Tahoe, California

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed as a stopover on a longer trip. Was in loop B and put the TT in the wrong spot as the site markings are not clear. When I asked staff they showed me that my spot was huge and I put the TT in the worst place. They should fix this. Water spigot is shared with your next door neighbor, not a big issue if they are friendly. Sites are dirt and there are no sewer hook-ups but dump station is easy to use. Some sites are a challenge, especially if you have to back in with a trailer. City internet works sporadically, can't download big files. Site itself was fairly level, picnic table, fire pit and plenty of room for parking (in this site). Noise from hi-way 50 is constant but not intrusive until the motor-cycle riders come speeding by. We would stay again. We camped at Campground by the Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Park is in a forest, sites are dirt, easy to navigate, and utilities are in good condition. The staff was great and there is a store, restaurant and gas station. We would stay here again so consider my comments as suggestions, but they are concerns. First, for the price, they should place wifi extenders throughout the park. We wanted to do research on the places in the park so we could plan each day, but you have to drive to the store or a Visitors center to get wifi. Second, this is bear country and they go out of their way to warn you about bears, garbage etc. Yet, they do not have bear proof garbage boxes. While the recycling containers are all bear proof, the garbage container (big brown garbage box) did not even have a lock or handle on the door. Their was garbage available to the bears on any night. The setting is great, but we don't spend a lot of time in the campground. We stayed in a travel trailer. Tips for other Campers:

If you like wildlife, go drive the Moose Wilson road. Best viewing time is early in the morning but you can see bears often during the day. You cannot stop on this road, so drive as slow as possible and look to each side. There is a Ranger led tour for up to 10 cars each night. Very informative and educational. Best advice for Grand Tetons, this is not Disneyland so animals do not show up at preset times; can't tell you how many times people commented on this.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

The park is right outside the West Yellowstone entrance. It is clean, well maintained and the staff is very helpful. They have a store onsite for "needed items." Sites are level and paved. They route "traffic" so you are disturbed by others coming and going very minimally. Internet was stable but could not download large files. They ask that you disconnect your water hose on nights that freeze; I wonder why they just don't provide covers since this seems to be a significant issue. My one complaint was that the sewer hookup was so close to the front of the site we had to purchase an extension; 25 feet of sewer hose was not long enough. We would stay at this park again. Camped in a travel trailer. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

The one bit of advice for the first time visitor is to budget time when entering the park from this entrance. There are constant delays due to bison, elk, etc. crossing the road. If you really want to see wildlife, wake up around 4:00 a.m. and leave the park by 4:45. Go to Lamar Valley. Woke up at 4:00 a.m. the third day and saw 8 wolves, a bear, a coyote, pronghorn antelope, bison, and an eagle. Greatest wildlife day ever!

Valley of the Rogue State Park, Gold Hill, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a forested state park. It is located along highway 5, so there is going to be some noise, but it is not disruptive, even when sitting outside. The highway area is flat so there is very minimal noise from trucks either accelerating or slowing down. The noise didn't bother us at all. This park is clean and well maintained. We stayed in D loop about midway between the river and the highway. Spaces are have easy entry and exit. Utilities are well maintained throughout the park and Rangers and Hosts are diligent in park management. They are also very helpful. We chose this park because we wanted to be out of an RV park and into a more natural environment and were not disappointed. The park was near full and we had no issues with noise or traffic. We camped at Valley of the Rogue State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We mostly hiked within the park. Did a jet boat tour along the Rogue (in Grants Pass). The boat tour was good, but due to the low water the excitement level was moderate. We did see a number of Bald Eagles and other birds. We did the 5 1/2 hour tour and felt it was worth the money. Visited both Gold Hill and Rogue River cities. Small but had some nice spots to wander about.

Woahink Lake RV Resort, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a family owned park with on-site and active management. The park is located adjacent to the sand dunes and attracts a lot of RVs with sand vehicles. The management actively monitors all sand vehicles at the facility, they even have a decibel meter to solve any disagreements. Hats off to all of those who had vehicles while we were there (4 nights), not once did anyone disturb the other campers. A group of the owners of the sand vehicles told us that it is well known within the community that this park assures that all guests are comfortable. We had to change our reservations and there were no issues, no extra charges. For those of you who are "last minute," management posts empty sites on the office door every night; you settle up in the morning. The park is well laid out and they put those interested in the dunes on one side of the park. The park is very quiet, even though it is located right off the highway. With all the vegetation, we barely heard any car noise. Management keeps the park and facilities well maintained. Everything is clean and well maintained. When we arrived we notice the cable TV cable end was missing (looks like a fresh tear). When I told management they were willing to come out right then to fix it. Laundry room, bathrooms are kept very clean. Internet is strong. Campsites are well maintained and comfortable. There is private access to the lake, across the street, and a game room for the kids. We would happily return. We also met a local couple who told us they stayed at the park for a year while they were building their house and it is the best park in the area. We camped at Woahink Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

See the Elk at Dean Creek Elk viewing area on highway 38, about a 15 minute drive from the park. We signed up for the 1/2 sand dune fun tour and it was worth it. Spent time along the coast, visited the lighthouses and took some of the local walks in the parks. Florence has both shopping and tourist sites. Old town has some good restaurants.

Crooked River Ranch RV Park, Crooked River Ranch, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed that this park about 10 minutes off the freeway and located in a natural site with major bluffs and a river right next to the park. It was a small price to pay for the peace and quiet of the desert area. The park itself is well maintained. The sites are level and the utilities are in good shape. We used the park as a base to travel to the desert and "Sister Mountains" so its central location was great. The park has golf, a pool, basketball courts etc. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. We had 2 things that made us "uneasy" in the park. First, there were signs everywhere telling you to keep off the grass. There was a grass area behind the trailer sites with a keep off the grass sign. While most people ignored these signs, it just made it less relaxing. Second, in more than a few areas there were notices that if you violated the rules you would be told to leave immediately. It made us wonder if guests in this park present problems. For us, the place was a comfortable place to stay. It was quiet, the sites were clean and well kept and even though there were no barriers between sites, they were comfortable. You cannot light fires in the area. We stayed there is a travel trailer. We would stay there again. We camped at Crooked River Ranch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
