Rimrock Lake Resort, Naches, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This park is NOT big rig friendly. The circular road through the park is VERY tight. We were told to back up the road, make a tight turn then back up the road some more and into the site. There was not enough room to make the turn with our 43 foot fiver. So we ended up squeezing between piles of rocks and big trees around the inner road with only an inch clearance in places, but we were able to get through and line up for a back into site 5. The utilities were centrally located and on the correct side for site 5. We noticed several sites where the utility connections were on the wrong side of the site. There is no AT&T cell coverage in the park. Owner said that US Cellular and sometimes Verizon have coverage (Need to go up to White Pass Ski resort to get a cell connection). No OTA TV, no cable TV for transients, and with all the trees we could not get a satellite signal. There is no WiFi in the park (their website states this) and there is a sign saying no WiFi and you should talk to each other like it is 1995. The lake is 30 feet low so lake access is difficult. If your looking to get away from the connected world and you have a small rig, this could be the RV Park for you. The owners were pleasant once you made the effort to talk with them. They worked with us on receiving packages and even gave us WiFi access through their business network. There is no pet area but there is a walking path around the point the RV park is on that is a pleasant walk. Sunsets are beautiful. We did note that some of the campsites were not cleaned up between guests. I did talk to the owners about the WiFi situation and the location is just so remote along with Forest Service Restrictions on construction make it almost impossible to get high speed network services brought to the park. Maybe when the satellite internet services become available in 2021 they can do something. One thing for sure, no internet access in the 21st century is not acceptable. We camped at Rimrock Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

You can get AT&T cell service at the top of White Pass. Diesel fuel is available at Backwood or Naches (30+ miles in either direction). Small Grocery stores are available in Naches and Backwood. The RV store has basics and munchies. We did not try the restaurant in the RV Office. Work with the owners and they will work with you.

Peaceful Pines RV Park, Cheney, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park. First built in the 1970s, the owners are starting to upgrade. The interior road is a circle with back in spots radiating into the center. There were a few small pull throughs. They only had one spot that would fit our 43 foot fifth wheel and it took some maneuvering to get into the spot. Utilities were good, water pressure was good (40lbs), electric is at the back and water and sewer in the center. WiFi was strong and reasonably fast. We were able to get satellite TV and local Spokane TV stations OTA. There is a major rail line running behind the park and the trains are LOUD. But you do get used to them. Owner and staff were friendly. There is not a fenced in pet area and strict rules on cleaning up after your pet (not a bad idea but delivery could be nicer). There was only 3 or 4 long term residents, rest are transients sites. Give the other options in Spokane area, this is a good pick. We camped at Peaceful Pines RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blue Anchor RV Park, Osburn, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older RV Park. For big rigs, the roads are tight but do able. We were able to maneuver our 43 foot fifth wheel but had to be careful. Streets were paved but too narrow to stay on them with our big rig in the corners. Site was level and wide enough for our slide outs. Water pressure was 40lbs. But the tap was below ground making it hard to hook up. Power and sewer were conviently located. WiFi was strong and surprisingly fast for a small town. A number of sites were taken up by single wides in need of repair and RVs held together by duct tape. Some of the trees need to be trimmed back for big rigs. Staff was very friendly and provided a guide to our site. Grocery and gas were just down the road. Some traffic noise from I-90 but not bad. We would stay here again. We camped at Blue Anchor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Timber Wolf Resort, Hungry Horse, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is built into a hillside. The grade up the hill was steep enough the tires slipped a little when climbing up to the top to access the pull through sites. Roads are tight for big rigs with lots and lots of trees (some low hanging branches). The site was narrow. Had to position our fiver so the slide outs would miss the trees. Sewer connection was at the back and up hill from the site. They are putting in retaining walls so they can provide more level space in the sites. Water pressure was low, 25lbs (they are running off their own well system). With so many trees and a ridge to the south, could not get a sat TV signal, only one local station (PBS) over the air and no cable TV. WiFi was very good and reasonably fast. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They worked with us to provide an extra night when our tow vehicle had problems. We would stay here again. We camped at Timber Wolf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Jim & Mary's RV Park, Missoula, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful RV Park. The owners are Gardner's and they have created beautiful landscaping in the park. All the mature trees in the park are placed and trimmed to not interfere but provide plenty of shade. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They bring in a local singer for concerts every Wednesday during the summer. Site is gravel but fairly level. Utilities are well placed, water pressure is excellent, WiFi is strong and fast, lots of green space between sites. Missoula is only 10 minutes away. Easy access to the interstate and US93 to Glacier NP. Great place. We will stay here again. Only issue is they do not allow charcoal grills. We camped at Jim & Mary's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain View RV Park, Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Closest nice RV park to Craters of the Moon NM. Also close to Idaho National Laboratory. Roads and sites are gravel. Site is mostly level. Utilities are all good and the WiFi is high speed. Water pressure is regulated to 45lbs. Sites all have a large grassy area with a picnic table and most have mature trees. Trees are well trimmed and don't interfere with maneuvering or slide outs. Owner is very nice and like to visit with guests. We would stay here again. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Yellowstone Park / Mountainside KOA, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

Nice spacing between sites. Surface was dirt and grass and we did sink in slightly. Hook ups were at the back of the site but sewer was in the middle. Pretty easy to maneuver our big rig around this park. Pizza at office was OK, nothing special. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Lots of critters (prairie dogs and muskrats). We camped at Yellowstone Park / Mountainside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Teton Village / Jackson West Campground, Jackson, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $107.00
Overall Rating:

Site was reasonably level. Utilities and WiFi were good. Power post and water was at the very back of the site making it a long run for water and cable. There were two sewer options, back and middle. Site was grass covered gravel with plenty of room for slide outs but barely enough room for our 43 footer and our truck parked sideways. The entrance does not advertise it as an RV park and when you pull in the narrow gravel road is lined with nice looking modern cabins with huge willows overhanging the road (but not low enough to interfere) and not an RV in sight. The thought of having to back out was not pleasant since the road is narrow an WY22 is a very busy road. But when you pull further in and cross a bridge, you come to the office. Park is a little tight for maneuvering big rigs but very doable. Not allowed to have a welcome mat to wipe the mud off your shoes. But the price is just crazy per right for what you get. Good thing is your only 15 minutes from Jackson and five from the park entrance and Teton Villiage. We camped at Teton Village / Jackson West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Outlaw Trail RV Park, Jensen, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park, so the layout isn't great for big rigs. Sites are a little tight but we have stayed in worse. Owners are continuously making improvements. The RV section of the park is all gravel with paved roads. Sites are level, utilities are good and water pressure was good. This is the closest RV park to Dinosaur NM. Owners are REALLY nice and helpful. We would stay hear again in a heartbeat. Closest restaurants and shopping is 13 miles away in Vernal. We camped at Outlaw Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is just outside the Bever Meadows entrance to Rocky Mountain NP so is very convenient to access the park. The roads and sites are loose gravel and sand. The sites progress up a slight hill but were fairly level. We did not sink in as other commented and our rig is 26,000 lbs. Most sites are pull throughs. Utilities were good. Water pressure was excellent, the water is soft and tastes good. WiFi was great up until the park filled up for the Memorial Day weekend. Then it was almost unusable. Our picnic table was set on the slope between sites making it useless. Most activities in the park and community don't open until Memorial Day. We will stay here again. The RV park website directions bring you through downtown until you make the turn onto 66. Stay in the right lane at the stop light so you can make a wide left turn. Else it is a bit tight. Going back, take the downtown truck bypass route because the right turn at Main Street is very tight. Elk and deer graze throughout the RV Park. It's kind of cool, but watch out for their droppings. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park, Mosca, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Located very conviniant to a Great Sand Dunes NP. We were ther the first week open for the season. When we strived we were informed the water had not been turned on yet due to freezing temps expected later in the week. So we had to fill up our fresh water tank and live off of it for five days. No price break was given for this inconvenience. There is no WiFi in the RV park and even though the lodge WiFi was assessable, we were not allowed to use it. The site was tight for our 43 foot fiver. Not a very friendly or nice RV park. But we had a great view of the dunes. We camped at Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Had a pull through site but it was very tight for our 43 foot fiver. Had to wiggle around a bit to get it to fit. Water pressure was good, no issues with electric other than only being 30 amps, no sewer. Great water front site with beautiful views across the lake. Roads could use some work. This is a very large campground. Can't image what it would be like if it was full. We camped at El Dorado State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Capulin RV Park & Camp, Capulin, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small RV Park. The whole thing is on big gravel lot. But utilities were great, water was fantastic, WiFi was very good. The owners were very nice. They also sell locally raised grass fed beef that is very tasty but way over priced ($55 for two Tbone thick cut steaks). There are no services in town beyond the country store across the road (gifts, beer, milk, chips) so come prepared. We would happily stay here again. Tried to upload s photo but kept getting an error. We camped at Capulin RV Park & Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is our favorite place to stay in Albuquerque. We had some issues with the WiFi but after working with the tengonet vender we were able to get on and stay on for 11 days. We were placed in a spot that was tight for our big rig which did not make sense when there were so many other spots that we could have easily parked with room to spare. The bush between our site and the next was so large, it took up part of the patio leaving no room for the picnic table. We just happened to stop in the office the day before we left and found out the rates had changed during our stay and they were retroactively applying them to our stay. The lady behind the desk could not back them out but said the manager would fix it. We'll see if they did as they promised. As we pulled out, the tree next to our site got in the way, but we were able to push the branches out of the way with our washing brush. We camped at American RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Las Cruces KOA, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Park is well maintained. They rake the gravel roads and sites every morning. Landscaping could use updating. Only issues are the "premium" pull through sites are very close together (could not open our awning without hitting the rig next to us!) and the WiFi is in serious need of upgrading. The WiFi used both filtering and password which would not work with our WiFiRanger and did not support streaming. In fact the reason for the filtering was for you to acknowledge that you should not stream video. Also would kick you off repeatedly. Would recommend the back in sites along the eastern edge. More room and the Views of the Organ Mountains were great. We camped at Las Cruces KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
