Minooka Park, Jemison, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Wanting a weekend-getaway spot close to home, we drove 20 miles and backed our RV into one of many available concrete RV spots. Each space has a firepit and picnic table along with the normal water, electric, sewage hook-ups. There are no 'shade-trees' around the campsite just yet, but some have been planted. RV spaces are far enough apart to avoid eaves-droppers, but close enough to see into your camper [NOTE: pull your shades down!]. No bath-house on the site, but there are unheated, block-style restrooms at the trail heads. We weren't there to enjoy the many ATV trails; however, our investigation of the park revealed a clean, well-organized area with the trails clearly marked [although, it would have been nice to have a spot-light on some of the signs, as they were difficult to see in the dark.] and, several pavilions for gatherings and gravel parking areas for ATV haulers. Trails are mid-level difficulty and clearly marked for operators. The lake walking path was wonderful and quiet on the cold, late October morning. The ATV riders did not show up until Sunday, late-morning after the rain, and we were pulling out to leave. All-in-all, a family atmosphere meant to support the ATV trail system. Definitely a 'keeper' in our book! We camped at Minooka Park in a Travel Trailer.
