Fort Griffin State Park & Historic Site, Albany, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Our first time taking the big rig to a state park. It feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, and the cell and TV coverage reflect that. Our intent was to unplug for a bit and see the stars, which are just staggering out here away from everything. Campground is simple and clean, was a very lovely experience. Head down the road 1/4 mile or so and see Fort Griffin to put it all in perspective. We camped at Fort Griffin State Park & Historic Site in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure and check out the displays, as well as the old fort building and things outside. It's all very well done, and well kept. Drive over to the scenic overlook to see the campground from above, and maybe get a good cell signal and check your email.

Wellington KOA, Wellington, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Office closed between 12-3pm. Reservation info left in the book on the front porch, so no issues. New patio sites were great for our big rig. Cable TV and Internet were OK, not spectacular. Park was clean. Nice dog park, but it's position near the front office with all the foot traffic was distracting to my dogs. It's a small but nice little KOA. Long-timers were positioned separately. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

WaKeeney KOA, WaKeeney, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I love KOAs but I never thought I would give one a 9. This was quite a surprise. Great looking property, great dog park, excellent adjoining grassy area for dogs, etc. Sharp, young staff, great signage and hospitality with ice cream social and pancake breakfast. Internet was amazing, even with full park in the evening. Cable TV was fantastic. Apparently this is a well known stop on I-70, as we were followed in by a King Aire, a Newell, and a Prevost. Sites fairly spacious for a KOA. We camped at WaKeeney KOA in a Motorhome.

Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA, Pueblo, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

A bit high for a KOA, but a good value considering the location and the holiday rates (4th of July). Second time at this park. Two nice, but little, dog parks. Some nice views. Very friendly and attentive staff. We camped at Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA in a Motorhome.

Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA, Pueblo, Colorado

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Large KOA, lots of sites mostly empty this time of year. Nice dog park, good TV and WiFi. Very friendly and helpful staff. Seems like there is a lot to do, though for us just an overnight stop. If you are traveling south on 25, this is a much nicer alternative to the KOA in Raton. We camped at Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA in a Motorhome.

Grand Junction KOA, Grand Junction, Colorado

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely KOA in Grand Junction. Great local on HWY 50. We had a very private patio site. The whole park was well landscaped, clean, and well badged. Two little dog runs were very convenient, though in rain I bet could be a mess. Staff was great. TV and WiFi were excellent. We camped at Grand Junction KOA in a Motorhome.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

New park west of Albuquerque. Great southwestern landscaping, nice dog park, lovely large sites with great big concrete pads. This is essentially a casino campground, but it terrific in it's own right. WiFi is excellent. Great water pressure & electric. No cable TV, but a ton of great OTA stations. Lots of space between sites. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA, close quarters and gravel sites. Our set was pretty unleveled. Also typical, great and friendly staff. Nice dog park, great cable TV and WiFi. They have a little food trailer (Kamp Kitchen) with some great breakfast. We had a nice patio, but way too much furniture on it. Didn’t plan to use anyway however. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Motorhome.

Moab KOA, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

Great KOA. Tight quarters of course, typical of a KOA. We chose a patio site to get more room. Fantastic camp store, best I have seen. Reminiscent of a top end National Park store. Great signage, everyone in their KOA yellow. WiFi and cable both good. Great views on all sides. Nice little dog park. Expensive KOA, but the locale demands and bears it, in my opinion. We camped at Moab KOA in a Motorhome.
