Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort), Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Amazing staff and guests! Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Sites and roads are concrete. Apparently this park was destroyed by hurricane Harvey but you could hardly tell now. We just can't get over how friendly and welcoming everyone was. Most parks we visit the people stay mostly to them selves...not here; people were walking around, some with dogs on a leash, and talking to each other like old friends. We loved the heated salt water pool. We will definitely be back. We camped at Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean, quiet, well managed resort. The roads were a bit rough but it had rained a lot and it is a wilderness park. Lots of trees and wildlife; especially water fowl. The lots were mostly very large and reasonably level with concrete patios and picnic tables. They have city water which was a surprise since they are several miles from the nearest city. Great free fishing in stocked lakes/ponds with boats provided. Everyone, staff and other campers, were very friendly and helpful. There seems to be a quite a few long term/permanent campers and we think we just might become one too. Loved the peace and quiet. We camped at Wilderness Lakes RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This park seems to be full most of the time. We had difficulty getting a reservation. We would recommend reserving early. Lake Corpus Christi state recreation center is practically across the street with more great fishing and boating. Corpus Christi is east about 40 min. San Antonio is about an hour north west. We found two really good restaurants in Mathis, which is about 5 miles from the park, Vans Burgers (they have a very nice bar) and Smolicks BBQ.
