Sherling Lake Park, Greenville, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $20.00

Hidden gem - little Municipal Park off I-64, very clean and well maintained. Each site is a pull-through with FHU, which for the money is outstanding. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Weston Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Fort Jackson Army Post, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground on the shores of a pretty lake. Access to level, concrete pads is a bit of a problem - campground is on a slight hill, rains wash deep ruts into the roadways! Parking pads are new concrete, level with lit pedestals, water and sewer and 30/50 amp electric. Found each site had a picnic table, grill and fire pit with grill as well - however, lazy people leave trash in fire pits which are not cleaned by personnel. In fact over 10 nights, we saw no one around other than patrols by Military police. We camped at Weston Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Country Side RV Park, Saucier, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

For some reason this Campground was last reviewed in July 2016 by someone who had a big problem. We stayed here for a full month (hence the low daily rate) and found the owner and his wife to be courteous, friendly AND helpful. This is a small RV Park, only 32 sites with about one third of them occupied by seasonals. Sites are fairly large, with gravel and are reasonably level as well with grass between - campground is regularly well maintained. The laundry is a bit small and also a bit more expensive than the average charges we've found elsewhere - but it was clean and the machines worked! Campground is about 10 miles from ALL stores, restaurants and banks, doctors etc. 12 miles further is the Gulfport beach, a mere 20 miles from Biloxi and New Orleans is less than 90 miles away. If you're a senior, the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi offers a magnificent ½ price Breakfast and Lunch buffet on Wednesdays. We camped at Country Side RV Park in a Motorhome.

Woodland Campground, Woodland, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice little park set on the side of a hill, stayed on 2 sites, #29, the first was a little difficult to get our coach level, but the 2nd site #27 was much better. Ground is gravel and as stated, mostly level, connections were good, water, 50 amp electric and sewer. The section we were in was "buddy" sites, meaning that each site was alternately facing in opposite directions, okay if your neighbor IS a buddy. The owners were both quite friendly and helpful, and worked hard to keep campgrounds clean and neat. Woodland is a tiny town with almost nothing, however the town of Clearfield, a mere 4 miles down the road had a lot! Walmart (looked new) some good restaurants, one we ate at twice (it was so good) was called China Buffet - good and plentiful food and ONLY $6.50 each! If you wanted more, the city of Du Bois was only 20 miles further down the road, a bigger town with everything. We camped at Woodland Campground in a Motorhome.

Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort), Bellevue, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground, well laid out and maintained by husband & wife team. Biggest problem, grass sites very unlevel and soft and although it was a pull through, the neighbors were very close. No sewer connection, but owner does come with his "honey wagon" and pumps you out Mondays & Thursdays. There is a small pond on the property to "catch & release", the nearby town of Bellevue had virtually nothing, but only about 15 miles up the road was the town of Sandusky on the banks of Lake Erie where there was EVERYTHING. We camped at Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Klint Safford Memorial RV Park (The Iron River RV Park), Iron River, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A small park within the little town of Iron River. Sites are asphalt and level with a bit of shade, only stayed 1 night on our way elsewhere. Did think however that the cost was a bit high for what we got, but it was summer! We camped at Klint Safford Memorial RV Park (The Iron River RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Golden Eagle RV Village, Perham, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

By far the worst campground we've stayed at, (and we've stayed at many). Location is way off main road (US10) in the middle of farmlands. Stayed here because this was the ONLY campground available on our way to North Dakota. Access roads were deeply rutted sand, and the RV "pad" was badly uneven grass! Site did have a broken concrete "patio", picnic table was two sites over, and surprise, surprise, the fire pit was full of trash! Did have 50 Amp, water & sewer in good location. Did feel though that for what we got, the price was high. There were a lot of seasonals there and a lot more campers on the weekend, can only assume it was for the fishing and boating on Big Pine Lake. We camped at Golden Eagle RV Village in a Motorhome.

Perham was a mere 8 miles away, but a very small farming town with a grocery store, had to drive 20+ miles to Detroit Lakes to get a Walmart and other bigger stores and restaurants. Other than the fishing & boating on the lake, there is nothing to do in Perham or Golden Eagle.

Interstate RV Park, Davenport, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Not too bad of a campground, sites were level gravel, grass was cut but had many weeds, roads were adequate as to ease of movement for our 35ft coach and toad. Site was gravel, and very close to your neighbor, so facilities were very close to coach, had exactly 2 inches between water connection which was way too high and our slide. CG had a pool and a small store but was reasonably close to all stores, Walmart, Meijers and the rest. Thought price was a bit above normal for type of site. We camped at Interstate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hidden Ridge RV Resort, Hopkins, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park, way too big! Layout is not bad, however access especially for big rigs is a bit complicated. Sites are mainly back in usually at an angle to the narrow access roads, so you have to virtually drive around the park in order to get your RV in line with the "pull IN" sites. Sites however were level concrete slabs with a bit extra to park your vehicle. There is a great little store on the premises with some fast foods as and emergencies, big spacious laundry - but the swimming pool and it's area was just too small for the crowds there in 90 degree heat!! This is a beautiful park which would have earned at least a 9, but for the electricity!! As we said there was 90 degree heat and the power kept cutting off, when we complained to the office the ladies there tried to tell us the problem was ours as "no one else was complaining". The camp host came to our site and apologized!! Because of the heat, the parks power was not coping!!!!! They were at that time dousing the transformers with water in an effort to cool them. NO compensation was even offered!! We made the mistake of returning to Hidden Ridge again at the beginning of the month, we were assigned site 243, plugged in, and almost immediately the power cut off, it would come on for 30 seconds and go off for about 4 minutes. Called the office to express our total dissatisfaction, again we were told it must be us, as no one else was complaining! The maintenance guy came over, first he suggested that it might be our Surge Protector that was faulty, suggested we do without it, when we pointed out that the park was not going to pay for any unprotected damage, he said he would replace the breaker. Still no improvement, so we moved to a pull through site up the hill in the newer section - no more power problems!! We camped at Hidden Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Little River Casino Resort, Manistee, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Was a bit surprised at this park being in the grounds of a Casino, but the facilities were excellent for the price. Site was a concrete slab, perfectly level, manicured lawns well maintained. Manistee is a very picturesque town on Lake Michigan, beautiful beaches and enough shopping to satisfy most. The Casino had shows and great restaurants if you wanted to use. We camped at Little River Casino Resort in a Motorhome.

Kritter's Northcountry Campground and Cabins, Newberry, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Small park near a very small town, one supermarket. Park is clean and fairly well kept by husband & wife team who were friendly. Movement inside park was good enough for big rigs, roads are gravel, campsites however are grass! Had a bit of a job getting coach level, but managed. Did not use bathhouse but laundry was adequate. Did feel that the cost for the amenities was a bit high though. No TV satellite reception and no more than 1 bar on at&t phones! Pokegama Dam Campground COE, Grand Rapids, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Another lovely (little) CoE Park on the banks of the Mississippi River. Its a very small park with level and paved sites, a picnic table and fire pit (which was full of trash from untidy and inconsiderate campers)! In the 3 days we stayed in this beautiful park, no one came near our site to clean and/or check even though there were rangers on duty. We camped at Pokegama Dam Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Icelandic State Park, Cavalier, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

ONLY reason we couldn't give this gem a 10 was because of 2 small items - 1. No sewer connection, 2. narrow (but paved) roads. Were there for the max 14 days, which meant that every 4/5 days, we had to unhook and drive our coach to the dump station along the narrow, winding roads, a bit of a pain. Otherwise, Icelandic State Park was a really great place to camp, the campground itself is on the banks of Lake Renwick and Renwick Dam on which boating and fishing was allowed. There is also a very nice beach and concession. Icelandic State Park had many sites, mostly pull throughs which were paved and mostly level (ours was perfect), there were plenty of trees ad manicured grass areas making the whole park quite pretty. The Bathhouses were always spotless, plenty of hot water! Also on the grounds of Icelandic is a fascinating museum called the "Pioneer Heritage Center" with exhibits from the Homesteading days and the original Gunlogson family Homestead. With this museum was a number of original and restored buildings, some from the original homestead and others brought from other areas nearby. Of nearby, the pretty little town of Cavalier is just 5 miles down the road with 2 supermarkets and a hardware store. If you're in this part of beautiful North Dakota - do not miss this park! We WILL be back. Other attractions about 10/15 miles away was the little town of Walhalla on the way to beautiful Pembina Gorge, there is a Ski Resort which has a summer theater called Frost Fire - well worth the visit. Also, only about an hour away, is the beautiful and interesting city of Winnipeg across in Canada. There is really so much to see and do around Icelandic State Park! We camped at Icelandic State Park in a Motorhome.

Camp Faribo Campground, Faribault, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Bit of a strange place! Campground is close to town but tucked away in the middle of corn fields. We had a "pull through" site, had to pull through the playground to get to the parking spot on grass. Needless to say we had playground "noise" which did stop after dark. Site was grass, not at all even, had a bit of a job getting the coach level, facilities were at the back but reachable. Access roads were sand and also not level, some deep dips here and there. Getting into or out of the campground around the office was a bit tight, but manageable. Stayed here as there was no where else on our route to our destination. We camped at Camp Faribo Campground in a Motorhome.

Nashville I-24 Campground, Smyrna, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly and helpful staff, had a problem with Toad battery, and guide helped immediately before showing us to our site. Site was horrible, in NO way level, front to back or side to side! Neighbors are literally on top of each other, must say though, some other sites did appear to have a bit more space between. Access roads were also a bit difficult to navigate due cars and trucks protruding into roadways (not much space to park toads or tow vehicles on each RV site). We camped at Nashville I-24 Campground in a Motorhome.
