West Pinal (Kortsen) Park, Stanfield, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We took a park host position at this county park. This is a primitive park with no hookups for rv’s. As a park host we did have 50 Amp service provided. Our water was an old army surplus 500 gallon tank which we needed to utilize a sump pump to fill our RV tank. Our sanitary tank was an above ground 300 gallon tank. If you are considering being a park host here please keep in mind that the county will limit the servicing of the sanitary service. So if you are like us, using a washer/dryer, taking showers, eating meals on site, doing basic living you only get about a 7 day window on the 300 gallon sanitary tank before it over flows. If you are willing to conserve, wash clothes off site, utilize the porta jons most of the time, eat at restaurants, limit your showers, then you’ll be ok. For us, we were anticipating more of a “RV park” situation as a park host.

It’s a great park and location just to primitive for our liking. It’s better suited for a one to two day boondocking experience in our opinion. We camped at West Pinal (Kortsen) Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Heartland RV Park & Cabins, Hermosa, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Read the reviews about the mud and noise. We had no mud for the week we were here. Yes there is some road noise from the highway but nothing like some reported. I take it as normal street noise you would get anywhere in a camp grounds with FHU. I think for a weeks stay it's acceptable. Would I want to stay here 2, 3, or more months? Probably not as the sites are too close for my liking and there were no trees for shade. My site was just long enough for my 39' 5th wheel. Once unhooked I had to park across the road which really didn't bother me as it was in front of our trailer. Plus there was room for our other vehicle. We camped at Heartland RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Eagles View RV Park, Sand Springs, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a month so the monthly rate was $400. Which included the electric. This park is 95% occupied by permanent residents. There were only a few "junkie" trailers/sites. The "cheap" rate allows one to look away from a lot of things. It's quiet and you don't feel like you need to bolt down your possessions. We camped at Eagles View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wray Hitch N' Post, Wray, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This staff was very nice. Even though the had their wires crossed and almost cost me a FHU. But they accommodated us. While there was no grass around the site it was well maintained. Keep in mind you are in the middle of no where so if you are looking for a 5 star place this isn't it, but all things considered it is a 5 star for the area. We camped at Wray Hitch N' Post in a Fifth Wheel.

Robidoux RV Park, Gering, Nebraska

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If they would/could fix their reservation system this park would be a solid 9.5 in my opinion. Can't give them a 10 as they need to expand their streets/roads for rigs that are newer. The radius' need to be larger so you are not dropping off the pavement on their beautiful grounds. A word on their reservation system - they don't ask for a credit card so a lot of people book only to have others turned away because "supposedly" they are booked. I made a reservation for a FHU for 4 days. But was told they were booked. So I accepted the first 2 days of FHU with the understanding I would move to a water/electric site the final 2 days. I asked if there any cancellations could I then occupy a FHU site. Yes was the answer. The next day I was told that yes, someone had called and cancelled (I was left with the impression that people don't usually call they just don't show up). I then said can I stay in my site that I'm at? The answer was no, we are booked and that site was spoken for. So I moved 2 site away. The next day someone showed up to occupy my old site. At the time and the remainder of that day there were probably 6-8 FHU sites still available. The following day the trailer departed my original site and the site was unoccupied for the remainder of my stay. This may seem like sour grapes but it isn't. Just that they need to fix their system as I believe they are turning away people due to a poor system and could really maintain a much higher level of revenue for the city. My opinion only. The spaces in between sites was extremely generous and they were very level concrete pads in like new condition. I would definitely use the park again. We camped at Robidoux RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Corpus Christi State Park, Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 weeks. The "c" style parking was very private as typically only your neighbors were visible. The first night we were given a spot that was very tight for the size of our rig (39'). We went back to the park ranger the next morning after someone had pulled out and they were extremely helpful in helping us move to a spot with a lot more room. We would definitely stay here again as the campground was quiet and clean. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
