Harbor Belle RV Resort (formerly Punta Gorda RV Resort), Punta Gorda, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This park is now under new management and is called Belle Harbor RV Resort. Lets start with the Cons: RV sites are extremely close quarters. The RVs are all parked on a small dead end narrow drive. Getting big campers in and out is a real challenge. I could not get my 35' travel trailer in my assigned spot, so backed it into another empty space. The campground has also recently started a "no dogs over 25 lbs" policy, so that prevents us from coming back. Pros: the staff workers are friendly. The heated pool was recently renovated and is VERY nice. The park had several get togethers at the clubhouse including breakfast. Lots of snow birds here this time of year, and most were very friendly and helpful. The location is good, close to several grocery stores and a Walmart. It's also very convenient to Punta Gorda and the restaurants and sites there. We camped at Harbor Belle RV Resort (formerly Punta Gorda RV Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Fisherman's Village is a nice place to shop. We took a sunset cruise and a fishing trip out of here. Laishley's Crabhouse was a great place to eat and watch the sunset too.

Marina Village Resort, Trinity, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a membership campground, however they will take Passport America members at $22.50/nt. Sites are selected first come first serve. Set up on your site then go to the office to pay. We had a nice waterfront site for the week we were there. TV antenna reception is non-existent and there is no cable. The concrete pads on the sites need some work but were level. Lots of deer in the campground in the evenings. The two pools are very nice. Sunrise on the lake was beautiful. We camped at Marina Village Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeview Park and Beach, Eunice, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nice big sites in a wooded camping area. There is a lake/beach in the campground that is used by local visitors on the weekends. Located outside of town, about 5 minutes from town. Very quiet in the campground, but was not very busy when we were there. Utilities were good and the sites were level. We used the laundry, and it was nice. We camped at Lakeview Park and Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort , Emerald Isle, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were crowded together, however we were there at the busiest time of the year, so was expecting a crowd. Sites were grass and sand. Escorted to the site by one of the workers helped getting in. Our site was pretty close to the beach, so not a far walk which was very nice. When leaving, I had to ask the people next to us to move their truck so that I could get my camper out due to the congestion. My ranking of only good is due to the cost and crowding. The office persons were helpful. The pool looked very nice but was a long walk from our campsite. We didn't use it and opted for the beach instead. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice level site with concrete pad, however the pads need some repair work. Campground is right on the Mississippi River. You can watch the tug boats going up and down the river from your campsite. Nice free laundry available. Convenient to Downtown Memphis. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Pretty much a gravel parking lot. The sites were all level and utilities were good. The bathhouse and showers were extremely clean. The laundry was very clean as well. We used our Passport America for a good rate. Only stayed 2 nights as we were just passing through. Office personnel were very nice and helpful. Airport Park COE, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed on a waterfront site which was amazing. The only downside of the campground was in our loop, the bathhouse was in bad shape. There was no running water and flies galore! Another bath house further down, appeared to be pretty clean but not great. We had a non sewer site, but managed it well over 4 nights there. The sunsets on the lake were awesome! We camped at Airport Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Hint: If you go to Magnolia Market at the Silos.... Go early. They are very busy. If you go to Magnolia Table for breakfast.... Go early. Same reason. Coaches XXX BBQ downtown was very good, try the chicken poppers. George O's restaurant has very good chicken fried steaks and cold beer. Parking at Harper designs is limited and if you get out to Crawford, go to JDH Designs (Jimmy Don's metal shop) He is the nicest guy.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are very close together. The roads were very dusty, as it was hot and dry during our stay. The restaurant on site was very good, we enjoyed the live music and food 3-4 nights during our weeklong stay. The pool was very clean and nice. Our Passport America rate precluded us from getting a waterfront site which would have been nicer. The campground offers a shuttle to and from the French Quarter for $8/person. That was very handy. Campground is not in the nicest neighborhood, but always felt safe there. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Go to the French Quarter for sure. Grocery shopping in the area is not real convenient, but you can find some stores 3-4 miles away. The World War II museum was very informative and interesting. We did a dinner cruise on the Riverboat Creole Queen. It was fun and relaxing on the Mississippi River that evening. Parking at a nearby hotel was convenient for the riverboat.

Stayed 10 days. Sites were all concrete and level. The park was very well maintained and the personnel there were very friendly and helpful. Pool was very nice and heated. They serve a free lunch in the office on Saturday's for the campers. Very convenient to the beach and casinos. We camped at Majestic Oaks RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Shady's Mermaid Dive Bar for dinner was good. It's a dive bar, but they were extremely nice and helpful. The food was good and they have Sunday crawfish boils. We also spent a night at the Biloxi Shuckers Minor league baseball field. A great way to spend an evening. It's 15 minutes away. The Shed BBQ is a must to see and the food is good. Lots to do and see around Biloxi.

Overall Rating:

Nice wooded sites. Park personnel were very friendly and helpful. The pool was very nice, but not heated. They have a pizza grill at the clubhouse by the pool. The pizza was pretty good. Sites were grass/dirt, but not messy. Good places the walk the dogs around the park. Very close to the beach and places to eat. Really enjoyed the campground and the area. Topics RV Resort, Spring Hill, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Got to the park on Sunday and the office was closed. They didn't leave any info for me as to where to park. Called the toll free reservations line and the person helped me figure out where to set up the camper. We had a site near the highway and it was a little noisy. There were a lot of fire ants on the site, had to watch for them, didn't put the outdoor rug down due to that. Pool was very clean, but we didn't have a chance to use it. The rate included a $8/night resort fee. We camped at Topics RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Woodsmoke Camping Resort, Fort Myers, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were in a pull through site normally used by transient campers since we were only there for one week. The sites were concrete, and level. Our Passport America discount saved us quite a bit for that week. We have two dogs and they required a DNA test for them for the poop patrol. It cost $80 for the 2 dogs, but can be used anytime you are there or at another campground that uses the same service. The pool was heated and very nice. Good area to walk the dog around the campgrounds. Remember to pick up the dog poo. We camped at Woodsmoke Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA, St. Petersburg, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were nicely shaded grass and sandy. The water connection at our site was located on the passenger side of the camper, they offered to get us a longer hose if needed, however our hose was sufficient. The pool was very nice and heated. Check in personnel were very nice and escorted us to our site. Very near the water, in fact we had a water view site. Lots of people were there when we were, but didn't seem overcrowded. Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

The park was very nice overall. The main concern was that the septic system appeared to be located in the center of the area of the campers. There was a definite smell of sewer coming from that area. The people working there were very helpful with info about Savannah. The grounds overall were very clean and well kept. We didn't use the restrooms or baths, but they looked extremely clean. Carolina Beach State Park, Carolina Beach, North Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful state park. Lots of space between campsites makes you feel like you are all alone in the woods. The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The camp store at the marina sold us some firewood and helped load it in the truck. Our site was level with a fire ring and picnic table. We used the fire ring to cook burgers one night. We were here in the winter, so the gates are closed at 6:00 pm. That was the only dislike about the campground. In the summer they stay open later.
