Hitch-N-Post RV Park, Kanab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We had a back in site near the tent sites. Originally we were concerned about the trees in the site assigned to us, #20. Instead, asked to use site 17, more open with patio. A big mistake! It turned out that the electrical post was damaged so there was no power. We kept getting fault messages on the surge protector. We did move to site 20 the next day with great help from the camp host. Power was good there. WiFi is non existent though it is supposed to be available. The campground is old, spaces tight for a big rig or large fifth wheel. The park needs a lot if TLC and a good clean up. Old items are lodged behind the building with the bathrooms. Positive: The camp hosts are very nice and helpful. Sadly, we would not stay here again. We camped at Hitch-N-Post RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Day trips to North Rim of Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Pope Springs, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary all convenient. There is a laundromat and car wash across the street. Big Al's drive in is across Hwy 89 and a great place for fast food. Lotsa Motsa Pizza is next door and has a reasonable lunch buffet. Be sure to tour the Heritage House Museum (Bowman-Chamberlain home). We learned a lot in this area about the Kaibab Paiutes, Mormons, and federal government history.

Cal Expo RV Park, Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are either paved in the front section or gravel in the back section. The latter is where we have camped since the larger Class A and 5th wheels utilize this area. There is a fenced dog park which we did not use. The grass is tall and during this summer there were rattlesnake warnings. The work kampers are pleasant and helpful. During the winter during rainy days medium to large puddles can develop. There is enough space between sites to put out awnings and patio mats. Close to shopping, the American River Bike Trail, freeways. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Howe Bout Arden has a theater, many stores including Nordstrom Rack, and restaurants. On Hurley Way is a small plaza with eateries. Raley’s on the opposite corner is a very good grocery store.

Old Sacramento has several museums, including the California Railroad Museum. The California History Museum located on 10th & O Streets provides excellent exhibits on California. The State Capitol sits in a beautiful park. Tours are available.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

What a wonderful RV park. Easy access. About 5 miles to downtown Mebane. Half an hour from Chapel Hill and Durham. Forty minutes from Raleigh. There are great college campuses to drive around - UNC, Duke, NC State. Blount Street in Raleigh has historical homes including the governor’s residence. The street passes the state capitol which is has monuments to many in the grounds and is interesting to walk through. The NC Museum of Art is very large. A great way to spend a day or few hours. An exhibit of Georgia O’Keefe paintings and works by emerging artists inspired by her work as well as a photographer’s large prints of various places in Mexico City were a special exhibit. It is there until January, 2019. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ashuelot River Campground, Swanzey, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good location for big rigs. Good access, clean. Laundry facilities located in the barn with the game room. Equipment was working well. Restrooms were clean. Chuck and Laura helpful with local recommendations. We were camped in a large open area. There is also a wooded area if that is your preference as well as tents sites along the river. DH was able to wash the coach and car. We would stay here again. The location is very peaceful. Negatives: there is no over the air TV access because of the Campground location. The pad where we were parked had some gravel. Because of the rain, the ground became soft and our jacks and tires sunk into the ground. More and thicker layer of gravel would be great. Our coach sustained dings when weed whacking was being done when stones were thrown up. Not good customer care. Thus the "satisfactory"rating for customer service. WiFi is present around the office/game room building.

Be sure to follow the directions to the Campground from the website. The Rand McNally directions send one down a road that leads to a cover d bridge and 3 ton maximum. We camped at Ashuelot River Campground in a Motorhome.

Dollar General and grocery store/meat market down the road on Hwy 10 are very convenient. Excellent meat. The food co-op in Keene is excellent. Be sure to stop at their deli. Yummy food.

Ben Franklin RV Park, York, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The positive: easy to make a reservation (by phone), close to town and services, very good WiFi. We had a shady spot which was great during the heat wave. Fine for a short stay. Room for improvement: our site had tire ruts that need to be leveled and filled. There is not a picnic table and the grass is poorly maintained. When we arrived the neighbor's pick up was parked in our space. A management person should survey the park and assure that a camper's space is clear. Some of the sites large enough for an RV do not have sewer. Residents and campers are allowed to park vehicles on the road which makes access difficult for larger motor homes and 5th wheels to access road and campsites. We never saw a park management person or employee during our 5 night stay. Reviews from over a year ago mention improvements going on. Aside from those mentioned then we did not see any additional improvements. The remaining manufactured homes need cleaning/maintenance. They are sad eyesores. Would we return? Maybe. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.
