Old Federal COE, Flowery Branch, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second COE we have stayed at on Lake Lanier. I must say, while it was nice, the other CG was better. Be aware the roads leading up to the check-in are narrow and can get busy. We almost got hit by someone barely stopping before exiting a side road. It is a little drive to get back to the main roads. Also, it was a little tight to make the turn around at the end of our street, but do-able. With that said, we had a nice site with was on the water edge and a great view of the lake and mountains. I cold front came in that afternoon (yes in July) and we slept with our windows open. There is not much for the kids to do here other than ride bikes or swim in the roped off area, but lots to do in the Gainesville area. We ate at Pig Tales one evening and the food was good. We would stay here again. We camped at Old Federal COE in a Motorhome.

Pine Ridge Campground, Roebuck, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I would give this park a higher rating if it wasn't so far off the interstate and if the road leading to the CG wasn't so narrow. The interior road was a little tight to get into our space. It has plenty for the kids to do: pool, jump pad, playground and fishing pond. There were ducks that visited our site every morning/evening. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This CG was very quiet. We would stay here again. We camped at Pine Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Natural Bridge / Lexington KOA, Natural Bridge, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This CG was fairly easy off/on interstate. Our site was fairly level (although many were not) and we were very close to other campers. We had one tree that came within inches of our slide so our site wasn't that wide. We had lots of shade, but sites on the lower level (38-41) had no trees. The pool was a little small for all those wanting to beat the heat. The arcade was very out dated and really didn't provide entertainment for our grandson. I guess this was the average KOA CG. We camped at Natural Bridge / Lexington KOA in a Motorhome.

Twin Grove RV Resort & Cottages, Pine Grove, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a family friendly CG with lots for the kids to do. There are two pools with slides/water feature, bouncy house, movie house, carousel, ferris wheel and ice cream parlor. There is a extra charge for some of these activities. There is a large dog run for the fur babies. Our site was fairly level and close to the bath house, but we had to drive to the pool area. Regarding the bathrooms, I would say they were fairly clean, but they had no fans or AC and when we took our showers we never could totally dry off. In fact, at times I thought I would pass out because of the heat left in the bathrooms (these are combo toilet/shower in individual room). There is a restaurant located on the CG which we ate at one night. The food was OK. I did have an issue with one of the washing machines, but finally got it fixed after 2 hours. We camped at Twin Grove RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

Cherry Grove Campground, Wolcott, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This CG was about 80% full-timers. It did have a pool, miniature golf, and a bouncy pillow, but we were only able to swim as there was a charge for the other activities and the office was closed at that time. Be aware: we were told two adults are be present at the pool when children swim. They said it was NY law, although that wasn't the case at another CG we stayed at in NY. The CG looks a little "tired" but OK. Our site was level and we didn't have to disconnect our tow vehicle. We camped at Cherry Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $110.00
Overall Rating:

This park cost a lot more than we normally pay, but it was so well worth it. It is a family friendly park with so much to do that our grand kids wanted to play all day. It was also one of these cleanest parks we have stayed at and the drive to/from the falls area was very easy. Our site, 201, was level and had a little shade. We were close to the bath house, but a little walk to the pool area. Things to do: play GaGa, swim in 2 pools, fish, hayride, animal show, arts and crafts, mini golf, zipline, etc. I'm so happy we chose this CG over others in the area. The only negative is there is only one grocery store on the island (which we didn't use) and I heard it was very good (small and expensive). We would recommend this CG to anyone - young and old. We camped at Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort in a Motorhome.

Youngstown Air Reserve Station FamCamp, Vienna, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Sites 1-5 are 50amp/FHU and 6-16 are 30amp/WE only. We had the best service from the recreation manager. This CG is very new, thus, has no trees. We had a little walk to the bath house, but it was so clean you could eat off the floors. We didn't need to use the laundry, but I think you would have a long walk to the building. There is a nice lighted running path around the CG. Warning: be aware at the gate entrance the concrete barriers are very close and laid out in an "S" form. Take it really SLOW. When we left the base, we asked the security to remove one of the security poles so we could depart without damaging our MH. We camped at Youngstown Air Reserve Station FamCamp in a Motorhome.

Rippling Waters Church Of God Campground, Romance, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Be aware the roads leading up to the CG are very curvy and narrow, so take it really slow. We even encountered some of the road edges washed away and at one point one side was blocked. This is a large CG with full timers and during the summer they host summer camp for children. After we checked in someone took us to our site. We had to cross a narrow bridge by the lake which was a little scary to me. We had a site next to the lake which was so pretty. Later, another camper came in and that's when I realized how close the site was, plus our MH blocked their view of the lake. With all that said it was a peaceful CG. We camped at Rippling Waters Church Of God Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherokee Campground, Blacksburg, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park was about 90% full timers, but all sites were kept very clean. The entire grounds were clean and very inviting. There was no pool, playground or bathhouse, but we didn't find that an issue. We used the park as a one night stop, but would return in a heart beat as we had excellent service. The owner was out of town when we arrived so someone else was there to check us in. He wasn't aware they accepted Passport America as a discount. That was fine as the rates were good. A couple of days later the owner texted me to say we should have received the discount and offered to send us the difference. That was a gold star in my books. We camped at Cherokee Campground in a Motorhome.

Clover Leaf Forest RV Resort, Brooksville, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Yes the trees were beautiful, but sites were very tight and close to your neighbor. Also, about 90% of the campers were either full timers or extended stay. The hookups were a little confusing and we even saw sewer drains without a led. The indoor pool looked ok, but the outside pool wasn't close and was shared with the 200 homes behind this park. There is no playground for the kids. There wasn't a picnic table, no satellite or cable and we couldn't pick up any local tv stations We camped at Clover Leaf Forest RV Resort in a Motorhome.
