Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We followed the directions provided online and in the KOA directory and found it without a problem. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was led to the site and offered alternatives to back our trailer in near the river by the staff worker. Other campers were very friendly. The wifi and Internet connections were the best and fastest we've encountered in our grand 9000-mile, 7-KOA, 6-week, and 18-state maiden-voyage RV adventure... (grin). There are trees galore on this campsite... everyone gets shade at some point in the day... Check the images below. . . We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It's the Smoky Mountains for crying out loud... close to the "Switzerland of the USA" ... {a small region with lots of rich people surrounded by mountains...} [grin] Go visit Asheville or drive the scenic hillside... walk in the river at the campsite, or float down if you like, just to knock the dust off your psyche and relax your soul... You can thank me later. . . Until that time. . .

Cripple Creek KOA, Cripple Creek, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 5 nights there during late July and early August. Wonderful views, great cool weather, and such a superb facility under the care and guidance of new owners. Showers and restrooms are excellent; laundry facility is superb, and every staff member is friendly and helpful. Great walking and hiking trails, if you are so inclined (wink). Cripple Creek has set the standard for us in all our travels. We now evaluate every stay as better or worse than Cripple Creek. Six weeks on the road and we have yet to find any campground with any facility, amenity, or service that can beat Cripple Creek. Well, there is the factor of a swimming pool, but natural hot springs are not far away (wink). We would go there every month, IF we lived closer than North Carolina. "Born on Valley Isle, Home now, North Carolina; Aloha y'all... Until that time." Earl J. We camped at Cripple Creek KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cripple Creek and Victor accounted for more than 10 billion dollars of gold during the peak of the gold rush. Restaurants and historical buildings from the late 1800s still exist in Victor; not far away - 7 miles.

Mercer / Grove City KOA, Mercer, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We made online reservations before realizing how close we were to the campground; we arrived 30 minutes later and signed in without a hitch. We were also provided a value card, a rear view mirror hanger for our campsite, a map, and a very friendly welcome to the campground. We were then escorted to our campsite and assisted with backing into the site. The latrine facilities are clean and well kept... as are the grounds and other facilities. This stop is only our second on our maiden voyage and KOA has set the bar very high for future campgrounds. Our site was gravel without much shade; our stay is short so we don't mind. The campground store is well-stocked and was very useful - especially the 24-hour service on the laundry. Good value for the money and highly recommended by us IF you happen to be in the neighborhood. Yes, it is a bit tricky getting here, but the final destination is well worth the challenge of the journey. We camped at Mercer / Grove City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We're here to unwind and relax for a day or two after visiting downtown NYC and Chinatown towing our RV. Completely serendipitous, and quite the ordeal... this campground is a great place to completely unwind.
