Beachcomber RV Park, Saanichton, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We had been coming to this park for many years as our home away from home. We live locally but like to have our RV somewhere we can pop down to on occasion during the summer months. It was always reasonable and enjoyable. Lots of regulars that we used to see each year. However, it has gone under new management and not sure who has put in the new rules the management or the owners. Most of the local regulars have now left due to the drastic changes and the expense. This park has nice sites right on the water which is most enjoyable when you can have a fire. However, the new management doesn't allow you to enjoy it long enough with having to extinguish by 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00p.m. on weekends. Not everyone wishes to retire to their units that early when you are camping. As well, the beach patrol person could be more pleasant and give some leeway in letting the fire burn down to nothing rather than extinguishing right as the clock strikes at 10 or 11. Enjoying an evening by the fire (for the short period that you are allowed to have a fire) or dinner with friends or family is definitely limited during your stay, as a charge of $5.00 per person to visit plus $3.00 to park their car is absolutely absurd. I've never had to pay a coverage charge for visitors. As well, having to pay for an extra vehicle other than your tow vehicle is also a money grab. Individual sites used to have some privacy between sites with bushes or driftwood barriers. All have been removed and no privacy from your neighbours. Although registration was pretty easy and the person was pleasant, it does not seem reasonable or fair if you select and book a site that they can move you and there is no guarantee that you get that site. This RV park used to be a relaxed and happy atmosphere to be in, the feeling here from those that come now is strained once they check in and are hit with the two pages of rules, warnings and extra charges. All sites are back in no pulling forward. We camped at Beachcomber RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
