Oakwood RV Park, Clear Lake, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay. Clean, pretty and quiet. Trees provided shade without hanging over our roof. We managed to peek through and get satellite reception. We were parked in one of the back to back pull-through sights. Level gravel, utilities worked fine. Sites are very long, We have a 43 ft motor home and toad and could have parked two more cars! Nice picnic table on a concrete pad. Shaded grassy area to sit out. Good access to Clear Lake. Nice laundry, $2 per load on honor system. We camped at Oakwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mesquite Tranquility RV Park, Alpine, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 8 days in a 43 ft motorhome. The weekly rate was OK, the $40 overnight rate is overpriced. No discounts accepted. Pros: Owners are nice Free laundry (we didn't use) Sewer, Electric, Verizon and ATT reception OK. Relatively free of road noise, trains weren't bad, felt safe enough. Cons Long pull thru sites at west end of park are very narrow for a big rig. About 18 ft from my power pole to my neighbors. The shorter sites in the older section of the park had more room. Water pressure was lowest I've ever encountered, we used their water to fill our tanks and ran off our pump. Roads are rough gravel and dusty, not much landscaping. It was long enough for my rig and toad, but I parked my car in front to get closer to the hookups. We camped at Mesquite Tranquility RV Park in a Motorhome.

Blaze-in-Saddle, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

No resort type amenities, but quite, level, and good utilities. Good views of Mt Tucumcari, and close to town, easy access, but far enough away for I-40 to be quite. We stayed two nights in our 43 ft motor home and toad and did not need to disconnect. This is a great base a stay to tour the area or an overnight stop. Friendly and helpful owners. There are pens for horses if you're traveling with those. The best option for the area in my estimation. High city water pressure, per owner, so use a regulator. Sites are combination of gravel, dirt and grass. Might get a little muddy in heavy rains, but we had no problem. There were no picnic tables that I noticed. This is the kind of simple RV Park we like, a good value, and we'll stay again when in the area. We camped at Blaze-in-Saddle in a Motorhome.

Try the chicken enchiladas with green sauce at El Herradero Mexican restaurant on East Main St in Tucumcari. Fair warning, they are a little spicy.

Spring Lake RV Resort, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful little park with catch and release pond. Very well maintained with good size sites, unusual at this price point. All utilities worked well. Not much for kids here, but great for adults. If there were seasonal folks here, I couldn't tell. We were at a pull through site at the front of the park, but when we come back, I'll definitely do a back-in site around the pond. Road was wide enough to allow easy back in. We were at site 22 and could not get satellite, but pond sites should have no problem. We stayed in a 43 ft motorhome. There were a number of other big rig motorhomes around the pond. We camped at Spring Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Utt's Campground, Fancy Gap, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Yes, there is a steep road into the park, but it's straight and no worse than some of the climbs on the interstate. Paved roads are narrow, but there are no trees or other obstacles on either side. We were able to negotiate with 43 ft motorhome and toad. Pull through sites are terraced into the hillside, so the last step out of the RV was a big one, and I had to duck lower down under my slide to get to my wet bay on the uphill side. Sewer connection was up hill a bit, so had to take care to drain the sewer hose. Not the best circumstances, but doable in a big rig. Pretty area right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Some sites had a nice view, ours did not. Woman in the office could use an attitude adjustment, we thought. Sign said small pets, leased, attended, and quiet, but a permanent/seasonal resident across from us left her barking dog tied up outside and unsupervised while she drove off, so no enforcement. Dog barked constantly until she returned. We camped at Utt's Campground in a Motorhome.

Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA, Jonestown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights as part of a longer road trip. Nice camprground with a country store including ice cream and prepared food. Broasted chicken fans will love the reasonably priced chicken and wings. We purchased tickets for Hershey Park at the store, same price as online, and got free shuttle service to the park. The owner drove, and gave a guided tour of the area on the ride over. Very nice guy. Only complaint was the water pressure was a little low and variable, but not enough to cause a problem. I was able to use my satellite, but that would not be true for all sites. We stayed in a 43 ft motorhome and I'd stay here again. For smaller rigs, there are some nice campgrounds along the creek. We camped at Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA in a Motorhome.

Walkabout Camp & RV Park, Woodbine, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night with our 43 ft motorhome and toad. Easy access from the interstate. Quiet. It was off and on rain, so we didn't get out and check out the facilities. Utilities were perfectly fine. The pool looked pretty nice. Our site was almost perfectly level, and not muddy despite being grass. Long enough for my rv and toad. We disconnected before parking, which worked out since I needed to back up and straighten out a bit. Roads are gravel. Our only issue with was the width of the spaces which was tight. A couple of opposing slides and there's not much room if you wanted to hang outside. That said, staff was friendly and I'd have no qualms about staying there again. We camped at Walkabout Camp & RV Park in a Motorhome.
