Carpinteria State Beach, Carpinteria, California

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

CA state parks have recently changed their reservation system. We reserved a hookup site seven months to the day in advance. When we arrived we confirmed our site, RV length, and reservation with the park ranger. When we got to the site, my husband said right away we wouldn't fit. Not even two minutes after we arrived, the unfriendly campground host said our RV was too big. To make a long story short, after a five hour drive, we had to move to a campsite only for one night with no hookups. Very disappointing as we looked forward to this trip and the website is clearly not booking sites correctly. Service is terrible. The area where the full-hookup sites are is like a sardine can and sites are very dirty. The fire ring is in a sandy space about 2 feet wide which doesn't seem safe to use. Sad that such a beautiful location is so badly run. We camped at Carpinteria State Beach in a Motorhome.
