Twin Lakes Catfish Farm and Campground, Baxter, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Level site with water, electricity and sewer. Nice park area with stocked ponds. What concerned us is that the sewer opening was above the water outlet and any residual drainage from the sewer went into water outlet area. Eww. It is a few miles north of highway in rural area. Quiet. We were there with 26' travel trailer. We camped at Twin Lakes Catfish Farm and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice RV resort well located in Moab. Near entrance to Arches and a quick drive to Dead Horse and Canyonlands. Clean. Friendly and helpful front desk. Nice laundry. Full hookups. We had a view of beautiful mountains out one side of trailer. There was construction going on while we were there -- not sure if on site or next parcel over, but definitely a lot of building going on in the area. So it was pretty noisy during the day at times. Quiet at night though. Would stay here again if in the area. We were here with 26' travel trailer. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fruita Campground (NPS Campground), Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I've ever been in. I will say that we are drawn to the national and state parks, as they are usually more spacious and scenic. But hookups are either non-existent (as they are here) or limited. I'll take that trade-off for this spot! There are red rocks and cliffs, orchards, a country store, a stream, horses, scenic drives, hiking trails... Lots to see and do both in park and the surrounding area. Dump station and water supply on site. Friendly and helpful hosts. Clean and quiet at night. We did have to use levelers on our spot, but the sites are mostly level. Highly recommend! We camped at Fruita Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA, Cannonville, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This was our base for a visit to Bryce Canyon. It's actually down the road a bit from the entrance to the park (20 minute drive?). Easy in and out, literally right on the country highway. Friendly front desk. Nice laundry. Clean. It was quiet enough at night, some road noise. During the day there was some odd construction noise -- sounded like breaking rocks -- all day (hopefully that was temporary). Very rural, a drive to any restaurant or store. There is a gas station nearby though. Views of nearby mountains and farming areas, beautiful drive up and down to Bryce. Shade trees on some sites. Full hookups. We were here with 26' travel trailer. We camped at Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Wahweap RV and Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't know it until we arrived, but this is a National Campground! So so nice. The sites are tiered up a hill, so everyone can get a beautiful view of the lake and landscape. Level site with full hookups, although there is also a dump station if you dry camp. Nice spacing between sites. Clean and quiet. Camp store there. Paved bike and walking trails. Lovely area. Near to Page, AZ, for restaurants and shopping. We were there with 26' travel trailer. Highly recommend! We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ute Lake State Park, Logan, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty state park by lake. Sites are big and have a grill area and sun/wind protected eating area. Water and electricity hookups on RV sites. Dump station on site. Mostly level site. Scenic and quiet. Quite a ways from I-40 but it was nice to get into more of a rural area. Were there for only one night but seems like a great place to spend a couple of days. We were there with 26' travel trailer. We camped at Ute Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

El Reno West KOA, El Reno, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were only here for an overnight, so it fit the bill for that. It's right off the highway. Sites for the one-nighters are literally in the parking lot, and you are jam-packed in. I felt a little claustrophobic, but again, it was only for an overnight... No good place to sit outside at your "site". They do have what looks like more scenic spots in the woods if you plan on staying longer? Full hookups. Stayed here with a 26' travel trailer. We camped at El Reno West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Falling Waters Campsite, Falling Waters, West Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We did a quick overnight here. The site was in a gravel parking area with water and electricity hookups. Can't remember if we had sewer, we didn't use. It is close to the highway with easy on and off. Restaurants in the area. Nothing special to look at (where we were) but definitely adequate for a quick overnight. Level drive-thru site, easy to get in and out. Friendly front desk. We have a 26' travel trailer. Cinco de Mayo mexican restaurant in next town over. We camped at Falling Waters Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

Blackberry Crossing - WMNF, Conway, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is in the White Mountain National Forest, so no hookups. It has pit toilets which were as clean as a pit toilet can be. That being said...it is a lovely, clean, shaded campground with generally level, spacious sites, which made it fairly easy to back into the site. We were there mid-week, so many spots were open even in July and it was very quiet. Host is friendly and knowledgeable. It is right off the Kancamagus Highway, so access is super easy. A covered bridge is right across the road, and there are swimming holes and hiking trails nearby. Civilization with stores and restaurants (North Conway) is about 15 minutes away. No dump station nearby -- however, we stopped at White Lake State Park on our way home on Rte. 16 South, and you can dump there for $15. We camped here in a 26' trailer. We camped at Blackberry Crossing - WMNF in a Travel Trailer.

Cannon Mountain RV Park, Franconia, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 2 nights, one night in campsite #7 (in our eyes, the far superior site because you are on the end with lots of space on the site -- did not have the crowds another review talked about) and one night in campsite #2 (one of the worst sites, as it is very cramped and claustrophobic). While the campsites are actually IN the parking lot on the edge, the general location is spectacular. You are at the base of Cannon Mountain right by Echo Lake. There is a small campstore there, public bathrooms, the lake to swim in, paddleboats and canoes to rent, a paved 8.7 bike path to the Flume Gorge, and countless hiking trails nearby, both easy and hard. Also Cannon Mountain has a gondola you can ride to the top in summer. It's in an absolutely beautiful area in Franconia Notch. The campground is right off the highway and very easy to get in and out. Sites are tight but paved and level. While the campsites themselves aren't the most scenic, the area makes up for that. Note: the site was big enough for the trailer, but we needed to park the truck in a parking spot in the lot. We stayed in a 26' trailer. We camped at Cannon Mountain RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are endless outdoor things to do here -- just use the campsite as your base. It must be spectacular in the fall with all the colors. Also, I heard that people camp there and ski in the winter (but I think there are no hookups available then?). Also super easy for a one-night stopover if in transit.

Locust Lake State Park, Barnesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Picked this (out of not much choice) for a "quick" overnight as we drove through PA on 81. While the park is really lovely and looks like a great place for a multi-day stay, for a one-nighter, would recommend a different solution. Pluses: beautiful park on pond with swimming area and fishing, shaded sites, electric hookup. Minuses: much harder to get into than looks on a map -- driving through smaller winding country roads to get to park. Sites are tight, heavily treed, and can be hard to get into on narrow campground roads. Sites not level, so needed all the levelers in this one (and that was suggested as a "good site" for us!). We were in a 26' trailer on site 40. We camped at Locust Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
