Deer Run Camping Resort, Gardners, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

It was the last weekend of the season. Park was full but we asked for and were assigned a satisfactory site away from the crowd. The site was not level, but a few well-placed leveling blocks made everything OK. The owners were accommodating and their hand-dipped ice-cream was delicious! We camped at Deer Run Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Ben Franklin RV Park, York, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good experience. Gave us a site on short notice. Easy access from US ROUTE 30. Good voltage and water pressure. On site sewer - easy and clean operation. Site was level. Some road noise, but excellent overnight choice. We will visit again. We camped at Ben Franklin RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shady Grove Campground, Denver, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Had planned on a two-day weekend stay but had family emergency. Campground refunded second night without penalty or complaint. Excellent customer service. Site was back-in and not level. But backed to trees and spacious when sites on either side were empty. Barking dogs everywhere. Roads were in terrible shape - dips and bumps. Would stay here again - nice place to walk - large pond on site with fishing. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Allentown KOA, New Tripoli, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

They took us on short notice on a busy weekend. Site was level but wet and muddy. Lots of nearby barking dogs and loud people. OK for a one-night stay in a pinch. We camped at Allentown KOA in a Motorhome.

Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Check-in was rushed and rude on part of woman clerk. Younger male clerk was friendlier. When reservation was made via telephone a few weeks earlier, we requested a quieter site as far from 37 HWY as possible. At check-in, we were squeezed into Site A2 (or A3). Fortunately, my bride had the presence of mind to suggest moving to a less-crowded location. We walked around and found a couple of choices: C-13 and V-8. We went back to the office and requested the move. The woman clerk was short with us, but the male clerk obliged our request for C-13 - about 8 dollars more. We went back to our first site to find a long line of customers waiting to get in. At our first opportunity, I pulled out into line. The rude matron stomped out of the office to tell me that I was not supposed to have jumped in line as I did, and now she was going to have to tell the guy behind me that he would have to wait a bit longer. Really? Are we trying to create bad-blood with each other? Once we got to our new site, all was better - plenty of room on either side, a hill blocking our view of the hwy and the rest of the park. Voltage was excellent: 122 average with AC on, water pressure was 40 psi, sewer connection easy access. The site (both sites) were level - no need for repositioning or blocking. If we needed a Winchester-city location, we would visit again - and request C-13. Plenty to 'do' in this area of Northern Virginia. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is an easily-accessible campground just W of VA Route 340 S just outside of Stuarts Draft VA. We used it for an overnight stay this time, so no sewer hook-up in oversized pull-through site. The campground is very clean and quiet. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Motorhome.

Surf City Family Campground, North Topsail Beach, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for ten days in a 32 foot motorhome. The campground is not much more than a parking lot - very tight spaces and ingress/egress travel lanes. All hard-packed sand and some grassy areas. Full hook-ups at Site #9 and only 220 steps to the ocean. The owners were pleasant enough. Fellow campers were mostly polite and even conversational at times. No campfires allowed (Good!). A poorly-attended informal church service offered on Sunday AM - only 9 of us attended, and a musical offering on Saturday evening. The beach was fabulous! Nothing to do here but walk over the dune to the beach - no amenities on-site except friendly folks and 10# bags of ice. We camped at Surf City Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA, Enfield, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for an overnight rest stop. Easy access from I-95 at Exit 154. Far enough off the interstate for a semi-quiet evening. The pool was refreshing and uncrowded. The site (#4) was level, shaded by huge evergreen trees, and spacious. A smaller campground but good for walking - mostly level, gravel roads. The restrooms required a pass-code for entry (given to you at check-in, but easily forgotten until it's too late). We camped at Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA in a Motorhome.
