Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

My favorite campsite EVER! When you arrive, you get the keys to a golf cart, tour the camp and pick your site. You reserve a spot, but can't request a specific site. Its first come, first serve when you arrive, and when you get there, you can pick from what is available. Our site (52) was amazing: terraced patio, varied vegetation, concrete pad, and a slight view of the inlet. Daily trash pick up, two pools, hot tub, laundry, gym. Nearby rentals. Lovely restaurant overlooking the bay. All week, I commented this is not "Your cousin Eddy's RV campsite!" We camped at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Shaw AFB Wateree Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Camden, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Military campground for DoD civilians, military families and retirerees only. Stopped overnight for a picturesque stay at this campground located on Wateree Lake. We did not take advantage of their boat, beach, lake, or fishing amenities. Our reserved spot was waiting for us as we checked in after the office was closed. Spots are concrete, mostly level and fairly close together. Fire ring/grill, picnic table and full hook up at our site. 30 minutes away from nearest highway or town. We would definitely stay again, but pack all your essentials before you come! Our site (4) was lovely, although we had to back our airstream off the pad to reach electrical that didn't reach the standard 25 foot hook up. Water was located on the opposite side. We camped at Shaw AFB Wateree Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Claytor Lake State Park, Dublin, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is our kind of park: very clean, organized, friendly Park Rangers, well spaced and marked lots (with reservations), and good utilities. The Park Ranger patrolled the park every hour. Packed gravel spots, quite level. Each campsite came with a fire ring, grill top, picnic table, and two posts that could be used for hanging hammocks or lights. Woods surrounding the loops. We didn't have a chance to explore, but nearby trails and a lake. Highly recommend this State Park Gem! We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Low Water Bridge Campground, Bentonville, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Extremely convenient park for the Shenandoah Strong Adventure Race. Campground is right along the river: tent campsites are along the river, pull through RV sites are across the gravel path. Sites are not very level. Electric hook up only, fill up water station on the way in. We missed the dump site on the way out. 20 minutes from Front Royal, nothing flashy, basics only, but cozy and picturesque ground on the river. We camped at Low Water Bridge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Skyline Caverns and Front Royal are fun places to visit. We dined at Osteria 510 and it was great! Not much immediately around the campground, but there appears to be many places to rent canoes and kayaks at commercial places near by. Close to Skyline Drive, beautiful parklands.

Boston Minuteman Campground, Littleton, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely, peaceful campground amid tall pine trees. Clean pool, family friendly, but not noisy. Cable included but scratchy. Good cellular coverage with T Mobile and Verizon. Convenient location to Boston's Historic Sites. Watch the steep entry: seems to have evidence of long trailers scraping the pavement. Would definitely stay here again!! We camped at Boston Minuteman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We spent the morning at Minuteman National Park in Lexington, and then Concord. Lovely lunch at Main Street Market, downtown Concord. Took a commuter train to Boston out of Littletown (or Ayers). Nearby Market Basket mall had pizza and frozen yogurt. Kimball Farms is a must do for families: restaurants, ice cream, driving range, bumper cars/boats, batting cage, and the most beautiful putt-putt golf course I have seen. Super friendly staff.

Charlie Brown Campground, Eastford, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly, very helpful staff moved us to a better site. Family friendly, but not overly crowded or rambunctious. Many friendly seasonal folks. Immaculate grassy fields, with clear brook nearby. Gray dumping at site, but two dumping stations on the way out. T-Mobile coverage, non-existent. Verizon okay. Would definitely come back. We camped at Charlie Brown Campground in a Travel Trailer.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Family campground: lots of activities, pools were packed, putt-putt golf course could use a little love. Our campsite (134) was wooded and perfect. Friendly staff, pets welcome. Quiet hours respected, but daytime was bustling during the day - naturally we are in their peak season. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.
